Window treatment help

Hello, I'd like to add some window treatments to soften up this room. However I don't think I'm in the position to add a lot of treatments at this time. So I'm wondering if I can pull off one long curtain panel where the picture is on the wall currently without having to put curtains in the dining nook. Here is the picture of my room, and here are some inspiration pictures. I'd like to do kind of a half rod thing. I guess my main question is could I pull off this look without the room looking only halfway done?

Kommentare (0)Good evening - has anyone experience with antolini marble treated with zerocare, particularly with their stones invisible grey and invisible blue? These stones sometimes contain bigger areas of chalk and the local distributor can’t tell me if the the zerocare protection also works in these areas with higher chalk concentration. Also, I wonder how deep the protection is in the stone. Can I destroy the protection by small scratches in the surface? My local distributor thinks the treatment is not tested long enough and does not recommend it for my kitchen. I asked an antolini representative at IMM in cologne and did not get an answer on my questions. I wrote several emails to antolini but did not get an answer so far either. Kommentare (9)Hey Alice, Yes I know, it's so hard to pick one as there are so many beautiful ones! Yes, I would definitely choose one that's shorter than the sideboard! You could go for something white and simple or something made out of the same wood as the table legs or something that matches the metallic thingy over the desk. I think I would choose a simply white one or a metallic one. Or you could also just put a picture ledge there and then put the artwork on it and maybe a nice candle or a small plant. Depending on the shelf and the size of the artwork, I would put the artwork on it :) Also you shouldn't hang it too high, it shouldn't lose look disconnected from the sideboard. I would say about as high as the grid over the desk but it also depends on the shelf. But I guess you will see it when you chose one! :) I added a few examples but of course those are my taste but I hope you'll find something you like! golden shelf - Urban Outfitters (maybe you can find something with only two boards) Round metallic shelf - Lionshome Picture ledge - IKEA...mehrHelp me decide!!
Kommentare (4)I also think it depends on how much light gets in so that the place doesn't get too dark. With the dark floor I would probably go for white, as it's a nice contrast and will make the space feel less 'heavy'....mehrKitchen/dining room wall
Kommentare (5)Hello! I would definitely recommend to take out the wall. Your room will feel so much more spacious and bright because you'll also get the light from the window when you sit at the dining table. Kitchen island is a perfect idea – it creates a lot of extra storage and is ideal for a communicative kitchen/dining situation (no divider between kitchen and dining area). With various shelves and built-in cabinets you can create even more storage room. Living in a space before making any changes is a wise decision – as long as it comes to furniture. When it's about taking out a wall you'll probably never do that later on ;) Happy to discuss if you need more inspiration / ideas – Just book a time that suits you. Cheers Anna...mehr

vor 7 JahrenThank you for your comments. I think I was relieved to know that the shutters could stand on their own and that I didn't necessarily need any drapery. I love the picture with the plant, that is the area that seems so empty. I'd love to do an area rug for this area as well but am struggling to know what color or pattern. I'm leaning towards something whitish? I think I'd eventually like to do two full-size sofas or a sectional. This is our only TV in the house so I'd love some comfortable seating for our family and friends. This room just doesn't feel complete and I'm trying to figure out what to do.

It's okay to let items on the mantel overlap the picture. Try moving the two vases in about 4 or 5 inches.

Flo is right about adding two chairs. Smaller in size but still comfy. Plus, take it as an opportunity to add some color to the browns.

vor 7 JahrenOk friends, I've taken your suggestions on adding two chairs and a taller table in between. Haven't had the chance to go pick up a larger plant yet. Also I probably need something different on the tables but I'm just playing with the large chairs right now. What do you think? Is this an improvement? I'm not sure how the coffee table goes? I'm a DIYer and could repaint it but I wouldn't know what color to go?
