The process offered by Built Green allows the home owner the tools necessary to build a dream home. Benefits include the ultimate flexibility to design and build exactly what is wanted without significant contractor / subcontractor price markup or change orders, selections options are limitless. Being involved in the contractor bid process allows the owner / builder to select the contractors / subcontractors that fit the needs of the owner / builder. Built Green offers classes with the various contractors / subcontractors which are informative with regard to the build process as well as provide an introduction to the trades that will likely be used on the home build process. This was useful in vetting what contractors we would utilize in our particular home build process. Bryson was always available to provide guidance when needed. The process does involve a bit of a hands on approach by the owner / builder but it’s well worth it in the end. I’d estimate 4-8 hrs / week on average went into meeting contractors (on-site/offsite), making selections for everything, and visits to the site to ensure the worksite is clean and trash free. I may have gone a little further than other builders but the mindset I had was that if I kept the site clean at all times, the workers would also go a little further keeping the site clean. We often brought food and interacted with the trades which I personally feel resulted in a little extra effort on the part of the individuals working on the house. Overall we are extremely pleased with the final result and would absolutely use this process again.

Amazing team of professionals provided an outstanding support in every step of our construction process- from initial consultation, to design, engineering, permitting, etc. If you are a first-time builder, like us, take advantage of the free classes they provide. Their classes are very educational and often are held at the actual construction sites so you can see it for yourself and meet their team and contractors. Their contractors are very professional, vetted and provide the best value and quality. Equity we gained at the end of the construction was great, sold the house before competing it and currently on our second build. Highly recommend!

My wife and I built our dream home with Built Green Custom Homes and it was a seamless experience. I had no experience in construction or any type of building, but the free classes offered by BGCH combined with the knowledge and experience of the consultants made me more comfortable with overseeing the project. If your looking to buy or built the free classes on home construction are a must. We attended the classes and built our forever home with the assistance of BGCH’s Home Designer, Interior Designer and Consultant. The process was well established, easy to follow, construction estimate was on target, and Consultant assisted us through each phase. Being involved in the total process from lot preparation, selection of subcontractors and scheduling completion gave us a real satisfaction and understanding of everything in our home.

We had a very good experience with Built Green! We were able to build our Dream Home out in the country. We are 90 miles from the Built Green office and a lot of our contractors - framers, plumber, tile, dry wall, foundation and electrical were from the Spring and Conroe areas, and they made the drive daily! I attended a LOT of the classes (while we were still living in Richmond) at the Spring Branch Library, at the BG Office and even at Ferguson Plumbing - these were very helpful and I would recommend them to everyone to make informed choices & decisions. The home designing process was good and interactive - I found a plan I liked and we tweaked it - including putting the master bedroom in the back and adding a vaulted ceiling in the family room. Our slab was poured near the end of June 2019 and we moved in March 4, 2020 (including a 3 week delay on our custom 10' LP Smart Siding). I used a few local vendors in my area - trim/cabinets, garage doors and shower glass, but primarily used those that had provided Built Green estimates for the Budgeting Process (which was very good & helpful - included almost everything!) or Vendors on their website.

This built by owner process was a PERFECT, though unexpected, fit for me. I had recently retired and wanted to build a our “forever” home on a picturesque one plus acre lot in Pinehurst that we already owned. I had initially partnered with a very reputable small volume custom home builder. I brought in hand, a fairly comprehensive sketch of our desired floor plan; single story, 3k SF, Modern Farmhouse type build. I also had a fairly realistic semi-agreed to budget throughout the pre-plan process with said builder. After enduring one year of design work, we were informed that we had added so much to the project that the cost-to-build price was going to be 30% higher than my well communicated budget ceiling. Shocked to say the least and knowing that was not a realistic option, I began to search for alternatives. That search culminated with my partnering with the folks at Built Green. Long story short, I was able to complete our build in roughly seven months (June 2020) for LESS than my initial budget and some $250k LESS than the price quote from our initial custom builder! Additionally, I was able to ADD or upgrade quite a few desirable features along the way(full 2x6 framing, spray foam insulation, epoxy garage floor, heated master bath floor, Anderson casement windows etc. etc.) I didn’t utilize my assigned consultant very much at all but it was good to know that safety net was there if needed. I simply drew upon my background and frequently referenced the step by step “Build Book” BGCH provided. I did utilize most (but not all) of Built Green’s proven tradesmen, and they were all EXCELLENT! This was by far the most fulfilling and rewarding “work type” process of my life. Best part is, we now are able to truly enjoy the fruits of that process each and every day. If you’re of the type who enjoys developing a plan, implementing that plan via driving a schedule, to build exactly what you want and how you want it, while realizing a significant savings along the way... you owe it to yourself to visit with the folks at Built Green and determine if they are a fit for you. I could not be more pleased and will be forever grateful that I did!
