I reached out to Darlene for help with my first home. I knew she was a perfect fit after our first meeting. She was knowledgeable, organized, and professional. I knew what I liked and disliked but did not yet have a vision for my home. It did not take Darlene long to hone in on my design style. She carefully designed a home that is more beautiful than I ever imagined. She meticulously managed every aspect of the design process, from choosing flooring, hardware, lighting, furniture, artwork, and decor to arranging the delivery and installation of these things. It is difficult to find a designer who is organized and efficient as well as creative and imaginative. Darlene is all of these things and more. She really is talented. Working with Darlene has been a wonderful experience. I would not change a thing!

We were first-timers to the interior design/remodeling world learned that re-designing a space in your home comes with a lot of "knowns" and "known-unknowns." Darlene was excellent helping us to understand the re-design process, see the vision for what was possible in our home, and communicating so we would know what to expect. She is trustworthy, honest, very transparent, and has an excellent eye for finding the design aesthetic which will work well for your style and the realities of your space!

How do I sum up all the amazing designs Darlene helped us with throughout our 2 years together? I hope I'm able to do justice with a couple of paragraphs :) Once my husband and I found the land we wanted to build on and picked out a floor plan we were happy with after many modifications, I quickly searched for local designers who could help us make sure our house won't be 'cookie cutter'. We didn't even really know our style at the time or what we really wanted, but that didn't deter Darlene from chatting with me for hours on end to try to figure it all out and offer up some ideas. The first most pressing selection needed at the time were our windows and to date that is my favorite thing about our home, our beautiful huge windows that allow light to ooze into our home in every room all day long. Not a single person visits our home without commenting on that. Darlene's design features are too many to name from the focal exterior entryway, exterior facade, front door, garage doors, master bathroom and kitchen design, multiple custom designed build-ins, all materials and finishes selections, lighting and plumbing fixtures selections, color palette, etc. She was equally open to our ideas such as the see through fireplace, as much as she was full of her own amazing ideas like our living room custom 3D wall. Even though there wasn't anyone in our local area who has done a 3D wall, Darlene searched until she found someone who was willing to give it a try and 'practice' it a bit to make sure it'll turn out great. And it did! Another feature no visitor can resist admiring! Darlene and I had a great working relationship; we're very similar in our taste of simple clean designs and also our attention to detail and perfection. I'd look to her for advice on when to push back with my builder for a crummy job done but also when it perhaps wasn't such a 'big deal'. She was amazing and patient throughout our not-so-pleasant builder experience; always on time, very quick with her responses, but what I found to be the best thing about Darlene was her deep caring about the success of the project and her client's happiness. Darlene also helped us with all our interior furnishings and decorative design pieces. We started with a clean slate, meaning we moved literally nothing from our previous home and purchased everything new. Darlene knew how much I enjoyed researching things myself so we both looked for furniture selections and would pass things back and forth until we settled on the final pieces. Darlene's 'final touches' of filling up shelves, counter tops, pillows, bedding, wall art, etc. turned out amazing. Simple and clean lines like the rest of the house, but it all looks so pulled together. I could not be any happier with the end result and I actually miss chatting with Darlene on a daily basis now :)

Loved the paint colors she selected for my home! The colors compliment the wood floors, my furniture and draws in the light and beauty of the outdoors. There are too many shades of colors for me to choose. Darlene took all the stress and potential costly mistakes away and left me with beautiful cabinets and walls throughout!

I have used Darlene for several projects now. Her attention to detail, design knowledge, and great design "eye" have been a big help in creating useable spaces that fit both my personal style and the style of my home.

We hired Darlene to design the following aspects of our home renovation: -kitchen remodel -fireplace makeover -design window seating for bay window -front door update At the beginning stages of the renovation, I was a very busy mom to a 2 year old and 3 month old. I could not have asked for a more helpful, communicative, precise designer. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and liked, and she did all the running around and brought me options to choose from. She streamlined the material selections and drew our exact visions on paper. I always knew next steps and could plan accordingly. Her eye for detail and accuracy is appreciated not only by myself, but also our contractors who did the work. I work with Darlene on both remodel and decorating projects. As a designer, Darlene has the whole package. She sees the big picture and is very detailed oriented. We're not ready to do a kitchen remodel yet, but we will for sure be calling Nico Interior back when we are. She came out, look at our space and gave great ideas. She was realistic with us on how much the remodel would be, so we're going to save up a bit more before starting.
