This post-war, plain bungalow was transformed into a charming cottage with this new exterior detail, which includes a new roof, red shutters, energy-efficient windows, and a beautiful new front porch that matched the roof line. Window boxes with matching corbels were also added to the exterior, along with pleated copper roofing on the large window and side door.

The bungalow home plans offer a perfect layout for the owner, with all living spaces conveniently situated on a single level. This versatile design can also serve as a Carriage house or Craftsman home. A charming covered front porch extends a warm welcome to visitors, enhancing the home's curb appeal.
Inside, a spacious and elegantly decorated great room serves as a versatile space for hosting gatherings with family and friends. The open and well-equipped kitchen features a butler’s pantry and an adjacent eating bar, seamlessly connecting to the formal dining area.
The master bedroom is generously proportioned and thoughtfully designed, featuring a walk-in closet and a modern master bathroom concept with a separate tub and shower, as well as a double vanity. Additionally, the house plan includes another beautifully appointed bedroom and a guest suite, along with ample space for a great room and dining area.
Natural light floods the interior, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere throughout the home. A mud area and a two-car garage with right-side entry provide practicality and convenience for residents, accommodating their transportation needs.

This beautiful transitional home was designed by our client with one of our partner design firms, Covert + Associates Residential Design. Our client’s purchased this one-acre lot and hired Thoroughbred Custom Homes to build their high-performance custom home. The design incorporated a “U” shaped home to provide an area for their future pool and a porte-cochere with a five-car garage. The stunning white brick is accented by black Andersen composite windows, custom double iron entry doors and black trim. All the patios and the porte-cochere feature tongue and grove pine ceilings with recessed LED lighting. Upon entering the home through the custom doors, guests are greeted by 24’ wide by 10’ tall glass sliding doors and custom “X” pattern ceiling designs. The living area also features a 60” linear Montigo fireplace with a custom black concrete façade that matches vent hood in the kitchen. The kitchen features full overlay cabinets, quartzite countertops, and Monogram appliances with a Café black and gold 48” range. The master suite features a large bedroom with a unique corner window setup and private patio. The master bathroom is a showstopper with an 11’ wide ‘wet room’ including dual shower heads, a rain head, a handheld, and a freestanding tub. The semi-frameless Starphire, low iron, glass shows off the floor to ceiling marble and two-tone black and gold Kohler fixtures. There are just too many unique features to list!

Much of today’s remodeling design ethos centers around complete transformation. And while that’s often necessary if a home requires it, Mahony’s approach to this luxury home remodel followed a more conservative and established set of design principles that still left room for lots of creativity.
There’s a lot to love about this historic Tudor’s original 1937 exterior — he simply removed the features that didn’t serve the design to let it shine. In fact, most of the home’s original elevations were kept intact. Dormers were also kept and refreshed, and chimneys were repaired or re-created down to the flue tile. Interestingly, various colors of brick were discovered during construction, leading us to believe the painted brick dates back to the original design.

Impact-resistant shingles, such as Grand Sequoia® AS Shingles by GAF Roofing not only enhance curb appeal, but they are often eligible for insurance discounts because of their ability to better withstand hail damage.
Here's an example of a recent project that utilized these shingles in addition to clog-free LeafGuard® Brand Gutters.
