The transformation of our sunroom back into a screened patio has truly revitalized our outdoor living space, blending comfort and style. In rethinking the entry from the home to the patio, we made significant changes to enhance accessibility and functionality. We converted an existing opening back into a window, while a former window was replaced with elegant glass patio doors, creating a seamless and inviting transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. In addition, we removed a makeshift lean-to room, restoring this area to its original purpose as a deck. This change not only expanded our outdoor area but also returned the space to its intended design, honoring the home’s mid-century roots. The restored deck now provides a perfect spot for relaxation and entertainment. This remodel has breathed new life into our patio, making it a versatile and charming extension of our home, perfect for enjoying the outdoors while maintaining a connection to the mid-century modern aesthetic we cherish.

Stunning new screened pool cover in Preston Hollow designed and built by Archadeck of NE Dallas-Southlake. The screened structures have pine tongue-and-groove ceilings with a clear coat stain that brings out the wood’s light color. The walls are cedar and the posts are cedar which we stained in walnut. We matched their home’s shed roof, which ties the new structures in with the mid-century modern style of the home.

Wie kann ich eine Retro Veranda gestalten?

Die wichtigsten Fragen bei der Planung von einem Anbau, der nachträglich an das Haus hinzugefügt wird, sind der Unterbau und das Dach. Passend zum Look von Haus und Eingang, kann man die Stützpfosten und das Geländer der Veranda in derselben Farbe wie die Fassade streichen. Im Gegensatz zur ebenerdigen Terrasse sind stets Verandas leicht erhöht, was die repräsentative Wirkung von diesem Anbau erhöht. In manchen Fällen führen die charakteristischen Holzbalustraden sogar um das ganze Haus. Ist dies nicht der Fall, empfiehlt sich für die Ausrichtung die Südseite als Sonnenseite. Aufgrund der niedrigeren Temperaturen sind hierzulande die Übergänge zu einer Holzterrasse, die überdacht oder verglast wird, fließend, obwohl die klassische Form ja das Gegenstück zu einer Glasveranda oder einem Verandaanbau aus Aluminium darstellt. Schiebetüren zwischen Haus und Veranda ermöglichen es, sowohl drinnen als auch draußen zu wohnen. Wird die Veranda, verglast, lässt sie sich im Unterschied zum Wintergarten mit Hilfe von Schiebetüren oder Schiebefenstern komplett öffnen.
