Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignAPLD 2021 Silver Award Winning Landscape Design. Painted galvanized troughs used for vegetables in the side yard. An expansive back yard landscape with several mature oak trees and a stunning Golden Locust tree has been transformed into a welcoming outdoor retreat. The renovations include a wraparound deck, an expansive travertine natural stone patio, stairways and pathways along with concrete retaining walls and column accents with dramatic planters. The pathways meander throughout the landscape... some with travertine stepping stones and gravel and those below the majestic oaks left natural with fallen leaves. Raised vegetable beds and fruit trees occupy some of the sunniest areas of the landscape. A variety of low-water and low-maintenance plants for both sunny and shady areas include several succulents, grasses, CA natives and other site-appropriate Mediterranean plants complimented by a variety of boulders. We used washed pea stone for the paths. It is truely remarkable the amount of food that can be grown in a small amount of space.

FormLA LandscapingHot Lips Salvia blooms look more like those of snapdragons than the notable wands of its sister salvias. It gets its name from the white and red tips of it's blooms that look like "Hot Lips". In spring, its fiesta red blooms seem to fill the garden.
In winter, Hot Lips' foliage also brings something distinctive to the garden. Its woodier stalks and delicate, deep green leaves create a dramatic backdrop for the silvery foliage of Salvia Clevelandii and cassia.

Seattle Urban Farm CompanyWe worked with the owner of this Mercer Island home to completely transform his large, shady backyard and unproductive vegetable garden into a sunny productive space. The new extensive annual vegetable garden features deep raised beds, wide pathways, small production greenhouse, a tool shed, rain garden and patio for entertaining.
The site will also includes native plantings, cut-flower garden and a small farm stand that the owner will stock with the extra bounty from his garden.
