ChangoA custom made hand hammered silver head board sits proud above the bed in this master bedroom. Two different rough wood dressers are used as nightstands and above them sit these vintage mercury glass lamps (Italy, 1950's). An oversized custom wool and silk blend rug sets a muted backdrop so lavenders and grays can come through the linen fabric used for the window treatments and bedding. Sferra bedding is used as the basic white, and custom made pillows tie the room together. White and silver cowhides cover portions of the large rug. A daybed sits in front of the king size bed, providing another layer of softness in this room.

Things soar in the Master Suite, where Jane created an ornate decorative plaster ceiling with extra-wide molding handsomely framing the design where a capiz-shell chandelier punctuates the center, tinkling in the breeze when the room’s French doors are left open. “The best place for a wonderful ceiling is the master bedroom” says Jane. “My clients love to lie in bed and look up at it.” For a touch of unexpected, Jane paired a shiny embroidered silk coverlet with a cowhide rug and warm walls of a hue between chartreuse and lemon.

To turn the master suite into a luxury retreat for two young executives, we mixed rich textures with a playful, yet regal color palette of purples, grays, yellows and ivories.
For fun family gatherings, where both children and adults are encouraged to play, I envisioned a handsome billiard room and bar, inspired by the husband’s favorite pub.
Best & CompanyThe pale-colored wood reflects light and absorbs sound, instilling the room with a sense of warmth and seclusion sometimes missing from apartments in contemporary glass towers.
