This basement was waterproofed, reconfigured and finished to create three (maybe four) distinct areas. The first, at the entry from the garage is the mud room. There’s plenty of storage for jackets, bags, shoes and toys. Clean textures are layered through the use of BW tile, decorative and functional pine elements and a jute stair runner. This area opens to a media room with surround sound. Followed by a hidden laundry bar and playroom. With multiple uses this substructure is a favorite for everyone in the family.

This home is located in an area with a number of midcentury homes. Although the home had drifted over time, the owners were bringing it back to its roots and needed more space for entertaining. The basement had never been finished so we started with a raw space with a very obtrusive bearing wall cutting the livable space into two narrow halves. From the start the clients wanted a warm mid-century feel which will be enhanced by their collections of antiques.

This is the basement. We painted the whole thing black. We put the 2x4s to separate the area with the sink and the washing machines that will stand there.

This beautiful custom basement remodel is second to none. From the time you open the mahogany French door and come down the wood paneled staircase with antiqued iron stair railing, the wow factors never end! You’ll pass the powder room with stone walls, travertine floors, handmade reclaimed wood vanity with stone vessel sink and turn the corner to look through the glass wall to the wine storage room. This beautiful space boasts a barreled wood ceiling, stone wall and floors, and custom cabinetry. Then walk through the custom metal doors to the sitting room, which includes custom made honed beams, wood paneled feature wall and bespoke lighting. Not a detail was overlooked in this original space that our clients will be proud to entertain in for years to come.
