elements and principles-Hanah s and Kayla Y
Positive critique- This kids room shows a lot of obvious elements of design. Some elements are lines, shape/form, and color. There are straight horizontal and vertical lines all throughout the room. The room also includes lots of shapes and forms. For shapes, it is the plentiful amount of rectangles around the room. For form, it is the colorful puzzle mat on the floor. The color scheme in this room is complementary. The complementary colors are blue-green and yellow-orange. The horizontal and vertical lines creates a few effects in this space. The vertical lines make the room feel taller, while the horizontal lines make the room look calm. The shapes in this room include rectangles, which are proven to be more calming to look at than squares. The colors in this room gives off the effect that it is playful, light, put together.
Negative Critique- This bedroom is just dramatic in a negative manner. there is no obvious color scheme. There isn't a clear focal point; your eyes aren't focused on anything in specific. Also, there is not any rhythm in the room; you do not know what to look at first, and you do not know what to look at second. The bizarre color scheme makes everything look out of place, but also stand out in a bad way. The unclear focal point in the room gives off the effect that the room is very scattered. In addition, the colors are very bold, so pretty much everything stands out the the viewers eye. The lack of rhythm in the room creates he effect that the room has no flow. The furniture, colors, and quirky decor pieces do not bring out any "movement" when looking at it.
harmony- the harmony in this room is quite obvious. The color scheme is neutrals and complementary. This room also has a variety of shapes and forms (circles and vases). This room also includes texture, like in the leather chair and the orange vases.
