Kitchens
This is how they solved their problem - I like a lot of what they did. Opening kitchen to the back yard, working with their landscape architect, using materials they found, etc. It's not fancy looking, and, although there aren't pictures of the rest of the house, it looks like it fits in with the feel of the rest of the house.
rotate counter-clockwise, and this is how we could change our new sink so we have a shallow side and a deep side
The sink we bought. Faucet like the Rafe Churchill kitchen (the yellow one w/soapstone counters and wooden island), and add a shelf like the sink in the picture to the left. I've an idea how we could cut down the side and front on one of the sinks so we would have a shallow(er) sink and a deep sink. We'd have a standard height counter on the shallow(er) side and higher counter on the deep side.
like the sink we bought, but ours doesn't have this nice shelf... yet
table in the corner by the window. I love window seats, but not too practical
I want to have a place where we can sit by a window and eat. Doesn't have to be big, but near enough to refill my coffee and sneak another piece of toast while I watch the birds.
We have this stool from my grandmother, up in our attic now. What kind of floor - keep our maple floor? Marmoleum?
Nice shelves. Deep enough to wash the dog. We both like this one a lot.
Pretty sink and windows. And I like the cabinets under the sink.
Pretty sink and I like the windows opening to the side
I'd love a double enamel sink. With a skirt, how do you use the space below?
Another stove top island. One thing that makes me a little nervous about the dining room and kitchen being one room, is that the mess of the kitchen will be in everyone's face when we sit down to eat a nice meal together.
stove top in an island, command central
I like the idea of the cabinets in the L-shape, but it brings up the fact that we don't run the dishwasher very much at all. It's just the two of us, and we don't use enough dishes to make it worthwhile, so we need to be able to drain the dishes after we wash them.
the big, white porcelain sink!
the long view to the windows. open, warm
windows and not so many upper cupboards. I'm short, so I want to be able to get at a lot of things without having to get a stool
longish view from one space to another, access to view
warmth, color, light, materials and textures
We had an apartment in Chelsea a long time ago with a beautiful, white porcelain sink on porcelain legs and I made a pretty skirt for it. It was lovely.
More way too cluttered, but like the period, materials, warmth
Waaaay to cluttered, but like the old feel of the cupboards
simple lines, old style hardware, warm color, wood
lower cabinets, wall ovens, display (but I don't want to display my dishes, glasses, things I use all the time, but rather vases, tea pots, etc)
counters on either side of the stove, drawer styles
Color, warmth, materials and textures, sink, windows. Mix of soapstone and wooden counters
Calm, warm, simple
pipe for a hood?
