Rhythm
The picture above shows lines coming together and forming right angles which is opposition. The fire place and the wood shelf shows example of right angles. I like the modern look of the room, but what confuses me is the wall right in the middle of the room that doesn't touch any walls or the ceiling. If you took the wall out you'd make the room look bigger, but you could want the closed off space.
In the example picture a sense of rhythm is shown through repetition. The stairway beams have a constant pattern throughout. Also the stair design it self are repeating in different directions. In my opinion the stairs make the house appear bigger and more complex which can be good and bad depending on your preference.
The curves line in the women's face is an example of transition. This grabs your attention and gives the room a mature feel. The room seems very dark and serious feel as well
