Wes and Sara Atkin moved to Washington County from Glendale, Arizona. Two years later, Sara found herself working in a self-service laundry. One day, a customer asked if she knew anyone who could make drapes. Sara quickly replied that she could do it. The "I can do it" attitude is a family characteristic that transitioned Sara's first drapery-making job into the successful Atkin Draperies. Sara had knowledge and experience in fabrics, textures, color and construction that easily transferred from fashion to window treatments, and she delivered her first window treatment in 1966. Competition increased every year, but Atkin Draperies' business has remained successful because of the company's quality workmanship and reputation for always delivering what's promised. Everything the company manufactures is custom made. The clientele includes homeowners and interior decorators. Participation in the annual Southern Utah Parade of Homes has generated a lot of positive exposure for the business. After 20 years, Sara and Wes passed the business on to their eldest son, Joe, and his wife, Evie, in 1988. Evie was familiar with all aspects of the operation from her experience working beside Sara for 13 years. Joe added equipment to fabricate hard window treatments, specializing in Plantation Shutters, and an upholstery department featuring the workmanship of Abel Benally- Another popular segment of the business. Joe and Evie's Son, Wes T., works as a professional installer while daughter Kelly handles paper work & sales calls. Atkin Draperies continues to be a strong family business.

I have used Atkin Draperies on multiple occasions. Two times were for wood plantation shutters; once for patio cushion inserts; and once to make patio chair cushions that had been damaged. They matched the design of the existing plantation shutters as well as the paint color. Installation was scheduled and executed perfectly. They carry a great selection of materials including Sunbrella products. The staff is excellent. Communication of status is excellent.

I love our drapes. Couldn’t be happier with our new black our automated blinds. They installed them promptly and everything has run just great. I love our remote control. Who wants to get up to open the blinds any more, right?

We hired Atkin Draperies to consult with us for window coverings in our open living space and master bedroom. Evie came out to look at the layout and what our style and colors were. She offered suggestions and then we went to her shop to pick out material. It was very important to us to keep the areas warm and light but also allow for privacy and of course stay within our budget. Evie is a pro at what she does and was amazing. I highly recommend Atkins Draperies. They will not disappoint!

I moved to St. George 3 months ago and was looking for a drapery workshop. I found Atkin Draperies by calling other shops that could not do the work. I had a King sized head board made with coordinating bedding. Evie helped me choose fabrics that would work with the silk draperies that I brought from my last home. The bedroom came out beautiful!! I also had valances re-sized and drapes shortened. Evie and her staff did a fantastic job, and the quality of their work was excellent. I was very happy with the finished products and would highly recommend her shop. I have a few more projects to complete and will be using her services again. I highly recommend this company.

Wes did window coverings for every window in our new home - which included large, drop-from- the-ceiling shades, patio door and at least 15 other windows. Most were remote or wall switch operated. His company, Atkin Draperies, did a great, quality job with good customer service. They made sure we were completely satisfied with the entire job and priced it fairly.

I had enlisted the professional services of Atkin Draperies in my prior home, and I was so pleased with their work that I had them again fill my windows with beautiful shutters. I also, with the assistance of Kelly, picked fabric for draperies; the results exceeded my expectations (see photos). The frosting on the cake with this "team" at Atkin was having Wes do the installations. He was extremely kind and professional, as well as skilled.

Atkins Draperies did a fine job with several projects for our new home. Kelly was very helpful and patient as I hunted through their many samples for drapery and upholstery fabrics. Our 27 year old swivel chairs now look like new! The quality of the craftsmanship made the wait worthwhile.

We used Atkins Draperies to fabricate draperies and to supply window blinds and automated shades for a senior living community in St. George. We are a design firm in Seattle so finding an excellent local source is really important to us. They did a great job! They delivered on time and were very professional and fun to work with. We will use them again if possible.

Atkins Draperies did an awesome job on my shutters! Not only were they patient and thorough with all my million questions but their genuine care shined through! Upon initiating bids from 3 other companies, I chose Atkins Draperies and have no regrets! This company is a true reflection of a Home Grown Business who invest in their community by providing an "Art" and dedication in their work! Their passion cannot compare with any other!!! A Few Suggestions when shopping for a Drapery/ Shutter Company: 1- Ask for details on their Warranty (Lifetime, Limited etc.) (No company could meet the same standards as Atkins Draperies) 2- Ask about differences between Wood vs. Vinyl Shutters ( I personally chose Vinyl for kitchen and bathrooms but chose wood for other rooms) 3- Upon completion of your order, verify shutters style is what you ordered before installation. Then once it is confirmed, set your appointment for installation. 4- upon installation, check each louver edge for cracking and/or chipping. This is a common flaw on edges when louvers are cut to size. (Once Again, Atkins got an A+ on this as well! Evie & her Team at Atkins Draperies are the best !! We run a Restaurant, Motel & Golf Course in Southern Utah and have had a lot of projects that needed to be completed, from booths in our restaurant, cushions & drapes for our lobby, and most recently louver shutters for inside our golf shop. I recently bought a house in St George. I had several transom windows that needed shutters to match the lower windows. A friend recommended Atkins. Kelly came out and measured the windows and took one of the shutters to the paint store for a paint match. it was about six weeks before the shutters were ready to install which was the time frame that they told me when I ordered. The installers showed up as scheduled and did a great job. The new shutters match the old ones exactly. I was so impressed that I ordered shutters for another window and transom. These should be ready in the next couple of weeks. Atkins produces a quality product at a reasonable price. The people are great! I happily recommend them to others.

We were looking for shutters "on line" for our new home and "stumbled" across Atkin Draperies. It was the best thing that happened during our building process. Atkin delivered and installed a superior quality and workmanship plantation shutter at a very fair price. They were so accommodating. They came to our home 40 miles away to get their "own measurements". We were so impressed that we had them do our Roman shades as well as re-upholstering some chairs. They did such a good job! Their follow-through was exceptional and they communicated with us every step of the way. We can't say enough good about the way we have been treated. I was lucky to find this family business to do all our window treatments. They were ALL so kind and helpful throughout the entire project. We had wood shutters, custom blinds, custom drapery and bedding made. Everything was perfect and competitively priced. Just the same as working with a decorator without the middle man expense. Kelly was especially helpful with fabric selections! She was attentive to what I wanted to achieve and it all turned out beautifully. I would definitely recommend this business!
