Rafe and his crew were marvelous to work with. They were involved in the remodeling of our kitchen and two baths. As a design professional who has supervised many remodels for others, I would recommend this company highly. All work was done on time and within budget.

The owner, Rafe, provided a detailed bid and started the remodel on time and completed on time- about 8 weeks for a whole house remodel (kitchen, bathrooms, living area). During the remodel there were a few design changes, mostly due my decisions, and these updates were handled smoothly. During the demolition, the house was kept tidy and all debris & trash were removed. Communications were good and an adequate level throughout the process. We are very happy with the work during the construction and quality once completed. As is often the case, there were "punch list" items that needed adjustment/fixing (e.g. grout cracks, paint touch ups, plumbing leaks/fixtures) after completion and these were all taken care of with complete satisfaction. I would highly recommend Big Tyke (Rafe Teich). In fact, I hope to have him do additional work for me in the future on another project.

We are so pleased with Rafe and his team at Big Tyke Construction. We hired Rafe to renovate a home office into a guest casita, and were so happy with the work performed and attention to detail -- installation of a kitchenette with plumbing and cabinetry, installation of electrical and plumbing for a washer/dryer, renovation of a bathroom including new tile work and plumbing, HVAC work, demo and removal of a drop-ceiling, interior painting, electrical and cable hook-ups, etc. -- a fantastic finished product. I hired Rafe and his crew to remodel my kitchen and master bath, remove popcorn from the living room, add some new lighting, replace most of the flooring, and paint. I had never hired a contractor before, but after getting three bids, his was the only one that was even close to my very tight budget, and he explained the process and options in a way that made me feel immediately comfortable. He completed the work on time and on budget, and after some minor misunderstanding toward the end, to my satisfaction. As someone who has never undergone a renovation before, it was important to me to really understand what would be done and how. He answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns with patience, and went above and beyond the scope of work to make the living room look good next to the remodeled kitchen. I'm satisfied with the work that has been done and plan to hire him again to continue with the updates.

Big Tyke Construction, led by Rafe Teich, is the DREAM remodeler. We down-sized, moving across the country from Iowa to Arizona. We purchased a house with “good bones” and a great view, but we knew it was a home that needed a complete “make-over”. The minute we met Rafe we knew we had found the right guy to take on this massive job. We gutted all but two rooms, removed walls and popcorn ceilings, re-textured, repainted, replaced all flooring, re-configured the laundry room, installed a stained glass door, added storage shelves and cabinets in the garage and installed a beautiful custom kitchen and two brand new bathrooms. Rafe not only met our expectations, he exceeded them beyond our wildest dreams. This project was done in the hottest months of the year (triple digits). Rafe appeared cool as a cucumber, barely breaking a sweat, even though the air conditioning was turned off for most of the 7-week remodel period. Rafe stayed on time and on budget….two rare feats! Since the work has been completed not a day goes by that one of us does not comment to the other about how pleased we are with the work. The end result has truly made this house a home, a place with our thumbprint on it. Rafe and his congenial team made our dreams come true! Rafe is the rare contractor who has the skill to do anything and everything. He also has the ability and the foresight to attract and retain courteous, proficient employees and sub-contractors. His electrical team was stellar. Lighting was a focal point in many of the rooms. Rafe is a master artisan when it comes to laying tile. His attention to detail is unsurpassed. Rafe is an excellent communicator. He is the most responsive contractor we have ever worked with. His word (and his work) is as good as gold. There are not enough adjectives to positively describe Rafe’s work, his crew or his character. You will be thrilled working with his guy. We could not recommend him more highly!

We have used Big Tyke Construction to do a complete bathroom gut and remodel job. They also removed the soffit that ran down the hall and entryway in our home. Rafe at Big Tyke helped with the design, and we couldn't be more pleased. His crews are prompt and professional. Good communication lead to a successful outcome with our project, and Rafe at Big Tyke was willing to stay in close contact. I would certainly recommend this company, and plan on using them again soon for another project.

I hired Big Tyke Construction to build a guest house in an RV garage. Rafe and his crew did beautiful work! They were thorough, neat and highly professional. They had to throw up a second level and put large windows on both levels in slump block. We never had an issue with passing inspections. Rafe knew what he was doing. He did the work in a timely manner and at reasonable price. I would definitely use them again!

Big Tyke Construction executed a complete home remodel project for us. This included gutting and re-configuring the kitchen and two baths, removal of all floor coverings, removing and opening walls, installing new doors and windows, and installing ceiling fans and new lighting. Every surface of the home was updated, refinished, or replaced. Rafe and his crew worked long hours and sometimes six- or seven-day weeks to keep the job on schedule. Rafe’s employees were always pleasant and conscientious and their work was well-done. They worked hard to deal with any problems or questions that came up. Rafe is especially resourceful and creative in suggesting cost-effective solutions to challenging situations. It was only the tiling subcontractors who slowed the project down and performed less than satisfactory work by our standards. This became a source of frustration for both Rafe and us as homeowners. Overall, we are pleased with the transformation that Big Tyke Construction made to our home and it was a pleasure working with them. We would recommend them for any remodeling or new construction project, especially one where Rafe would do any tile work himself.

I have used Big Tyke several times for remodeling of bathrooms, they have always been professional, stayed on budget , took pictures of progress so I could send to out of State owners and kept me updated on any changes that need to be made.

We needed our kitchen redone. We went around and got three estimates. Rafe was willing to work with us and see our vision of our future kitchen. He had a "can-do" attitude and showed a high level of expertise in designing our new kitchen. His employees followed his designs and were very courteous and respectful of our concerns. They completed the project in a timely fashion. The subcontractors were here when they said they would come, and stayed late as needed. Before leaving they would ask if we were happy with the job. The finished product exceeded our expectations. Everyone who sees the kitchen are wowed by it! We highly recommend Big Tyke Construction to anyone needing home remodeling done.
