CNF Flooring & Tile

We have used Chris for several projects, including a first floor tile flooring job and a kitchen remodel. He is excellent at his craft. Even though our floor was uneven, he leveled it to install large-scale tile to be perfectly flat. For the kitchen remodel, he gutted the back of the house, moved walls, updated electrical and refinished the entire space. His work is without fault. He is timely, easy to have around and finishes the work in the given timeframe. We will use him for future projects knowing the work will be completed to the highest standard.

This bathroom was the third project that Chris Volkman, of CNF Flooring and Tile, had done for us. Prior to our bathroom reno, Chris completed a laundry room with a heated floor, and a half bath. We are consistently impressed by Chris' workmanship, attention to detail, communication skills and prompt completion of the projects once they were started. This bathroom began as a complete demo. All the plumbing, insulation and sheet rock were replaced prior to the tub installation and tile work. Chris completed the entire process in about a week, with minimal inconvenience to us. Chris worked with us to insure our satisfaction in the finished product. We are planning a complete kitchen redo next summer, and Chris will be the first call we make to discuss any design ideas the he might contribute.

I am remiss for not writing a review sooner! We hired Chris to remodel our master bath in 2017. He took it down to studs and created an amazing sanctuary (see photos under Marble Master Bath in Medford). 1 year later we had him back to renovate our guest bath and 1/2 bath along with replacing flooring in our kitchen, dining room and entry hall. This past spring he was back again, this time he transformed a dark, dingy, spidery laundry room in the basement into a light, bright oasis! Chris and his assistant Dario are the most competent, masterful contractors I’ve ever had the pleasure to engage. Their workmanship is impeccable and the results play that out. Chris is very responsive and responsible. He answers all questions and gives realistic estimates. We’ve been more than thrilled with the lovely improvements to our home. We used CNF Flooring & Tile twice at are home at different times. The first was a bathroom remodel complete gut job. Chris came over gave us different ways to complete the project and gave us an estimate in a timely fashion. All the tile and sheetrock work came out perfect, started in the morning and put in full days in until job was completed. His crew cleaned up every day at the end of the day. Chris repaired a shower base that was poorly installed from a previous contractor. Throughout the entire process, he was a professional who showed up on time, cleaned up after himself and was true to his estimates. The finished product was excellent and I was overall very pleased with his work. I would not hesitate to hire him again in the future.

We have selected CNF Flooring for three separate projects in our home spanning 5-7 years. We continue to appreciate Chris Volkman's professionalism and meticulous attention to detail in every aspect of our projects. We originally asked Chris to install backsplash throughout our kitchen to match our countertops. Later, we redid the bathroom and Chris installed new shower tile and green board with a very nice subway tile pattern. In October, he and his associate installed new luxury vinyl flooring in our kitchen and replaced our 30 year old carpet in the three bedrooms and closets with new Mohawk wood flooring. We are more than thrilled with the new look of our house- it is like a new house! More than anything else, we felt Chris treated us and our home like family. We would not hesitate to recommend CNF to our neighbors, friends and family members! Outstanding work that will stand the test of time!

Chris Volkman of CNF Flooring is the best remodeling contractor that I've worked with over the course of the past 30 years. He is thoughtful in his preparation and planning; is methodical and logical in his implementation; has a thorough understanding of the materials and is a masterful craftsman. Chris worked with me and my architect this past year to renovate a 400 sq ft area of my home over the course of 2-3 months, and I got to know him, ask questions, and see the work progress in its entirety. Chris and his assistant were gracious and easy to work with, and they were careful to keep the remodel work from having a negative impact on our life in the rest of the house. There were no glitches in the project, and Chris was able to help me by fitting in a few additional small projects while working on the bigger remodel. The project included a conversion of a large bathroom and pantry into a new handicap accessible bathroom in an en-suite apartment for my 90 year old mother. We also added a powder room, laundry closet, and new pantry closet. In the main en-suite bathroom, we incorporated a beautiful Artistic Tile feature wall, NuTone radiant flooring, a steam shower, a Toto toilet with washlet, all new solid and wider doors, and a new slider door level to the exterior. We had to reroute plumbing, HVAC and rewire so this was a substantial rebuild, and Chris had good contacts with subcontractors. We are all very happy, and looking forward to working with CNF Flooring again next year to remodel two other bathrooms, and our basement !

Chris V. of CNF Flooring & Tile just finished a beautiful first floor renovation that included a renovated bathroom with handicapped features (roll in shower/curbless shower, grab bars, washlet toilet, etc), as well as a new powder room, and closet washer/dryer and he did an AMAZING job. I am an architect that specializes in Aging In Place (my company is Aging In Place Architecture PLLC), and my construction drawings are quite detailed. Chris V. was meticulous following the drawings, in creating the roll in shower/curbless shower that was needed (one of the hardest things to install in an existing home renovation,) as well as the installation of beautiful tilework, plumbing fixtures, vanity, etc. For high end (or mid to high end) projects that require precision, attention to detail, and a courteous experience with the clients, he's my go to contractor. His construction knowledge is a great asset in coming up with solutions to challenging existing conditions. It's great to find a contractor that can think with you, the designer, as well as the client to assist in coming up with seamless solutions to challenging existing conditions, and then install them so the end product exceeds the designers intent. He is the first general contractor that I have worked with in over 25 years that has actually followed my design documents fully. And my client was thrilled with the end product! The client also noted that her experience with his workmanship, professionalism, etc. was the best she had seen in the many renovation projects she has done over the last 35+/- years. Please note: the best way for Chris to do his job is to ensure that all building products are on the site and acclimatized. This prevents construction delays, etc.

I would give 10 stars if possible. I've used them several times with excellent results. Prompt, very reasonable. When they tell you they'll be there they are. They start the job and come every day till it's done. Chris and Dario know the business and it shows.!

Chris is the only contractor we will allow to work on our house. He was referred to us through a co-worker, after a dreadful experience with a different contractor, and we couldn't feel luckier that we hired CNF. Chris and Dario's craftsmanship is unmatched. This full first floor remodel is the third project CNF has done for us. He previously remodeled two full bathrooms for us. This project encompassed: new wood flooring throughout the first floor, moving a wall, full kitchen gut/redo, relocating: plumbing, electric and a window (which meant repairing siding - that looks seamless!), new lighting, painting, window/door trim, and ceiling replacement. We asked him to create a closet and replace six doors on the fly - no problem. The electric wiring in our house was a nightmare-puzzle filled with electrical hazards waiting to fail from the 1950s and he had to unexpectedly rewire so much of it - our price never changed and he walked us through every hiccup encountered along the way, offering us more than one solution. He communicates clearly, was always professional, stayed on budget and finished on schedule. He arrived on time - EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. - and left the space clean at the end of each day every time.

Chris was amazing! He kept me informed every step of the way. He delivered everything he promised and more! He completely renovated 3 bathrooms, installed flooring, built walls, did electrical, and plumbing, sheetrock/painting and more. I would recommend him to anybody without any hesitation!!

I have used CNF flooring for 3 different projects over a 2 year period. They included flooring in my dining room, den and sun porch, new moldings, new baseboard heat covers and repair of ceramic tiles. The largest job was repair of rotted wood in our sun porch which required the dismantling and rebuilding of a wall. Chris and his team did excellent work and we are very happy with the results. He is extremely knowledgeable, takes pride in getting the job done right and is a pleasure to work with.

My husband and I hired CNF to install new flooring tile in our kitchen, laundry, and bathroom. Chris, the owner, was prompt, meticulous, and very attentive to all the details. We hired CNF Flooring & Tile July/August 2017 for our Master Bath and Kitchen remodels. CNF handled all aspects of the jobs from rip out to tiling. My husband and I were very pleased with their professionalism and expertise. Their craftsmanship, experience and knowledge helped us to plan, anticipate and prevent any major problems saving us both time and money. They also worked well within the constraints of our condo development. They made the renovation process as smooth, clean and painless as possible. The end result is beautiful, and we highly recommend!

I showed Chris a picture of the porcelain tile floor we wanted. It was not a standard design. Chris pulled it off perfectly! I now have the greatest floor on Long Island! I designed an Art Deco 1/2 bath, again non standard design, showed Chris the design, nailed it! Done! Awesome! Got a mosaic idea for your counter backsplash? We did, here I said to Chris, can you do this? Yup! Done! Beyond that, Chris is the pro you leave the work to while you head out to do your work or errands - How important is that in this day and age?!

I used CNF Floor & Tile for 5 separate projects! I was very pleased with the work! They are very professional, dependable, and knowledgeable. Quality work! I had floor tile and a tile back splash done in the kitchen. Wood floors installed in 4 bedrooms, radiant heat in the tile floor installed in my den. Also, I had 2 bathrooms gutted and completely remodeled. I am very happy with all work done.

I will find it difficult to add anything other reviewers haven't already said about Chris. There is no one else I will ever have work on my house again! This guy is the BEST! Great attention to detail, as knowledgeable as they come, and the definition of the word "perfectionist". He went above and beyond on everything he did. We started with a tile floor in the powder room off the kitchen... I thought he only did tile and flooring. We mentioned we were renovating our kitchen. By the time he left, after a brief conversation about it, the job was his. Then he installed new kitchen cabinets in the kitchen, tile backsplash, the works... And the trim work he did, crown moulding, etc, made it look like a million bucks! So custom looking. All his ideas looked better than I could possibly have imagined. Then of course we wanted a new floor in the kitchen... Then updated trim in areas outside the kitchen... Next he will be doing some fancy trim work in our foyer and up the stairs. A new dining room floor won't be far behind. I am currently looking around my house to see what other places he can add his magic touch because the work he has done and his design sense puts the rest of my house to shame! I'm sure my master bath will be done by him in the near future. I felt he treated me like a friend and not just another homeowner. He and Dario, who works with him, are professionals of the highest caliber... Thank you Chris and Dario!

I usually only write reviews when I've had a negative experience. In those reviews I am trying to prevent others from having to deal with poor products or services. In the case of CNF Flooring & Tile I had to make an exception. I can not say enough positive things about the recent renovation work that was done in two of the bathrooms in our home. From start to finish Chris was a pleasure to work with. His quality of work was exceptional and his attention to detail was exactly what we were looking for. All work was completed in a timely fashion and at a reasonable cost. In the 30 plus years of owning a home this was by far our best experience with a contractor. As you can see from the pictures the shower glass has yet to be installed. Both glass contractors that I received pricing from also raved about the quality work that was done by Chris.

CNF Flooring and Tile was recommended to us by Cancos Tile and was the best thing that happened to us. Initially we just wanted our kitchen tiles installed, but soon found out that Chris was a full and licensed contractor. Chris and Dario did all our renovations in our house including construction, electrical and plumbing. Our house was dated from the 1970's and is now a beautiful beach cottage. My kitchen renovation included replacing the tile floors, removing and installing new cabinets, opening the wall into a half wall. Our main bathroom was completely gutted and renovated, as well as a complete conversion of our master closet into a full bathroom. They installed high hats and ceiling fans in all rooms. Their work was meticulous and they were very professional and neat. Chris listened to everything we wanted and delivered it perfectly. He was always on time and is very reliable and trustworthy. We recommend CNF Flooring without reservation ! You will not be disappointed.

Chris Volkman is the consummate professional. Chris completed two bathroom and kitchen upgrades and we are absolutely delighted with the finished product. I was recommended to Chris at CNF 15+ years ago when I first bought my house that needed a total remodeling. At that time he completely remodeled 3 bathrooms and replaced all the floors through out the entire house. 2 of the 3 bathrooms were gutted to the bare studs and the other was a complete new installation. All the old tile floors were broken up and new tile and laminate floors were installed. The work was impeccable, neat and done in a reasonable amount of time. More recently, my wife and I decided to cover our brick fireplace with stone and replace the old insert with a new modern insert. I called CNF and was happy to find out that Chris also does stone installations. Chris coordinated with our fireplace installer to have the stone work complete and ready when the fireplace insert was ready. Over the course of 15+ years I've recommended CNF to many friends and family members. Chris is a trustworthy and reliable contractor who I would not hesitate to recommend to do any home improvement big or small.

CNF Flooring redid my upstairs bathroom. The job was completed in a timely fashion and the work was impeccable. Chris has a great eye for design and is a pleasure to deal with. Everything is done with perfection. He takes a lot of pride in his work. I highly recommend this company.

I hired CNF Flooring & Tile to tile my downstairs bathroom. They were very professional, reliable, honest, trustworthy and did an AWESOME job. They were on time everyday and cleaned up every night, went above and beyond my expectations. I was so impressed with their workmanship, I hired them again to tile my second bathroom which also came out AWESOME. I cannot recommend them enough. (Color in the picture I took of floor changes color for some strange reason but it is really one color)

We hired CNF when we remodeled our kitchen/bath and when we finished our basement. The experience and expertise cannot be topped. CNF was able to give us the advice/recommendations that we needed to hear when we were having difficulty with our decisions. Everything that was done (floor and the back splash in kitchen) came out perfect. Chris prides himself on perfection and is extremely meticulous and it shows in his work. We strongly recommend the use of CNF and we plan to use them again in the future.

Chris did a complete renovation of my bathroom. He gutted it right down to the studs then put it back together. I can't say enough about the work he did (i love my bathroom). He was very neat and completed the job in the time he said. Chris stands by his work and will change or fix anything that was not right with the job.

I have used CNF Flooring a couple of times and cannot say enough wonderful things about them! First, Chris ripped out an existing tile floor in my kitchen and laundry room, and replaced the area with another tile. At a later date, he totally renovated my bathroom from removing old fixtures etc to completely finishing the bathroom. Everything was done in a timely fashion. Chris is awesome! We were referred to him from Cancos, and he first redid our entire Master Bathroom. We were so impressed with his professionalism and quality of work they we brought him back in to redo our powder room downstairs a few months later. Chris and his company, CNF Flooring, do exemplary work in their field of tilesetting. We are a commercial general contracting firm who works with many contractors and he has never disappointed us.
