Danielé has been a tremendous asset and Implementer in the construction, full gut renovation project, interior designing and working with the contractor renovating my upstairs apartment ! This apartment is in a 1910 building where I have lived for some decades. From the start he has worked to “Get” my individual taste and orientation! And to realize them in the many choices necessary as one designs and renovates an apartment in an old building. He consistently works to implement, with enthusiasm, my taste and needs. His professional experience comes into play as he knows thoroughly, the structural, functional relationships and requirements lying behind any aesthetic goals we have accomplished. I love the kitchen floor tile design, reminiscent of a 1910 floor pattern that Daniele researched, got samples, developed and drew up several drawings of the layout detail and then we worked on the design process together. It was quite a process for Daniele to guide me to a design pattern I was happy with. It was a joyful process. He pulls ideas together in a wonderful integration. He is a terrific problem-solver, because he truly knows how things work in the world of interior design and construction, and he’s had lots of lifetime professional experience to be able to analyze and choreograph all the components, physical, aesthetic and functional – that need to be pulled together to make an interior design and all the processes work, aesthetically and functionally. I am repeatedly Grateful !

It was a pleasure and a fun experience working with Daniele Perna Designs to create a thoughtful, flexible, work from home desk solution for my NYC studio apartment. Since my studio is just about 270 sq feet, options for a working desk area had to be extremely creative. The collaboration and design process was really exciting and inspiring. We exchanged ideas and then narrowed it down to two options. The options he designed reflected my individual style and working space needs. Seeing these options through the drawings allowed me to visualize and make decisions. I had some time to think about the first option, which was a custom designed work surface that was integrated with my radiator cover. I realized that perhaps I would like to have a desk that I could eventually take with me when I move, so I shifted the course. I shared my thoughts with Mr. Perna and from there we moved to deciding on a solution/desk that I could take with me. I did some research to find a desk that would fit over the radiator. Finding a desk with the legs in the correct position to clear the radiator presented a great challenge. I sent all the desks I loved to Mr. Perna and he studied the leg position in connection to the radiator, but none of desks would work. He then decided to take on the challenge and looked at the entire space. I was provided with a new furniture plan that opened up the room and provided an additional open area with space to add a 20" depth desk. I love the new furniture plan, it changed my apartment. I can now purchase the desk that suits my taste, and take it with me when I move. Mr. Perna was very patient and wonderful through this design process to help me make good decisions about investing in long term functionality. Because of my decision to change the course of the project, it did increase my services budget, however I am very satisfied with the outcome and the design decisions executed by Mr. Perna. Daniele Perna Designs is a innovative efficient team that is extremely talented, personable, pays rigorous attention to detail and focused on delivering customer satisfaction. Joan Shepp Women’s boutique. Joan Shepp has been providing High-end fashion for 45 years and we offer an eclectic assortment of European & American designer shoes and clothing. When we decided to give our Walnut Street 7000sq ft boutique a new Shoe Lounge we wanted to hire a New York based design firm and through an excellent reference we found Daniele Perna Designs.( www.danielepernadesigns.com ) Daniele came to meet with us to discuss what we wanted our clients to experience when they came to visit Joan Shepp. Daniele was quickly able to understand what we wanted and help guide our vision to a real design and build a high fashion Shoe Lounge. He asked questions about our clientele which resulted in a design that has them feeling good, energized, emotionally charged, and the center of attention. His design ideas are inventive, and he has a wonderful method of illustrating them. His use of materials; cold steel and aluminum worked perfectly with the design of the space. It’s about our shoes being the central focus. He referred to the shoe shelving units as the floating shelving, the shelves had no visible structure holding them up. With no visible structure there is no distracting material detail and the shoes are absolutely the focus.For the feature wall he used square unfinished tile and the contractor spray painted the tiles with several layers of aluminum to create the effect that they truly were aluminum. This was a beautiful feature wall, light came from behind to create impact and drama that our guests would first see this wall as they entered the Shoe Lounge. One imaginative feature, he named the Shoe Vault, the closet which we stored the shoes. He believed that the shoes were worthy of storing in a vault as if the value of shoes is like gold etc. All of his concepts were fun and progressive. DPD created construction documentation, purchased materials, project managed outside manufacturers (Steel Craftsman) and the contractor. He was a pleasure to work with, worked with in a good budget and he was good at dealing with any problems that arose. I would recommend Mr. Perna for any project that needed a professional and creative impact.

Mr. Danielé Perna of danielepernadesign.com came and saved my life when a kitchen renovation I had going on was like a sinking ship. I had been so excited about this kitchen renovation of my new apartment, but the project had left me in tears. The original General Contractor I had hired was completely failing me. What should have taken a month was dragging on more than 6 months due to poor management and a failing GC company. After some time, I could not get a hold of the CG and they were using more of a handyman to finish the project. After finding Mr. Perna and asking if he could fix this dilemma, he took on the project with an extremely positive attitude and enjoyed the challenge. He was undaunted by the task at hand. Now, after starting to work with Mr. Perna, it brings me excitement as to what the final project will be. His skill at troubleshooting the issues and confidence is unmatched. The first thing he did was call up the tile company in California (Fire Clay Tile) and explained how botched my tile install was and negotiated us a 25% discount on a future order because I now needed more tiles. He is bringing in his own tile workers because the first tile job by the handyman had to be ripped down because it was so poorly laid. Then he did conference calls with me and the contractor and even met with one of the subcontractors in person to get the job rolling again. Mr. Perna quickly drafted construction drawings in two days for the final design. These drawings were what was missing from the job in the first place. Mr. Perna also went to the reclaimed wood showroom with me (Sawkill Lumber Company) to help guide my choices. Finally, I feel like I have a professional project manager at my side instead of me trying to act like my own project manager. Being that this is my first renovation, I knew in my heart I needed to hire someone who knew what they were doing. Mr. Perna not only knows what he is doing from his years of experience on jobs both large and small all over New York City, but he is dedicating so much time and energy to my project. He came in person to my brand new condo several times to not only go over my ideas but also add new ones and do the measurements. He is managing every aspect and minute details of the job. Even my small job has so many details down to a 1/6th of an inch! He is an expert passionate designer that works with my aesthetic tastes and also contributes his own flair. My personal style is contemporary minimal in my new apartment and he helped me see adding more wood to the design details will help warm up the otherwise mostly white (and cold) kitchen. I surely need help not only with the interior architecture design but also with furniture purchase, layout, and overall color. He is a professional, polite and truly cares for the people he is working with. We live in the West Village Chelsea area of Manhattan and contacted him to inquirer about a loft bed unit for our daughters bedroom. We viewed two different loft bed systems he designed on his firms website. His loft beds are wonderful unique design. He presents his design work with passion and with a great attention to detail. Our daughters bed room is a typical New York city bedroom and we needed to maximize the space. He came over to provide us with a consultation of what are options and approximate costs could be.
