I recently worked with Dependable Renovations and specifically Chris Williams for a home renovation project, and I cannot recommend them enough. We have our dream kitchen and en-suite bathroom in our forever home thanks to them. Here are some of my thoughts in more detail: - Expertise: Chris Williams, our contractor from Dependable Renovations, was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He was great at understanding our vision for the project and helping us achieve it while staying within our budget and timeline. He went above and beyond to ensure that we were satisfied with the final result and offered helpful suggestions and alternatives to make the project even better. - Communication: Chris was excellent at communicating with us throughout the entire process. He was always available to answer our questions and address any concerns we had. He kept us updated on the progress of the project and ensured that we were informed every step of the way. He was very responsive and easy to work with, which made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable. Chris was great at pricing out options and helping us understand the tradeoffs of each so we could make the right call. - Professionalism: Chris and his team were always punctual and respectful of our home. They took great care to clean up after themselves each day and ensure that there was minimal disruption to our daily routine. They showed a high level of professionalism in their interactions with us, and we felt confident that our project was in good hands. - Recommendation: I would highly recommend Chris Williams and Dependable Renovations to anyone looking for a reliable and experienced contractor. Chris was great to work with, and I would 100% recommend him again. He is my first referral anytime a friend or family needs work done on their house. Out of the ten renovation companies we contacted in Calgary and the six we interviewed, Dependable Renovations and Chris Williams stood above the rest as the most engaged in helping us achieve what we wanted with our renovation while keeping an eye on the cost and logistic constraints. Chris's focus was always on making sure we were satisfied, and he completed our project with no delay in finish date.

Dependable Renovations helped us renovate our older home in Bridgeland, Calgary. Our plan was to completely remodel the first floor, including the kitchen, dining room, living room, a bathroom, and three bedrooms. We changed the floorplan, replaced all of the flooring, and gutted the kitchen and bathroom. At the beginning of the project we discovered that we were expecting a baby, and asked Dependable to accelerate the schedule so that our home could be ready for the due date. Dependable really came through for us! The project was done on schedule and within budget. Throughout the process, we felt supported by Chris, Michelle, and team. Communication was great, and of our concerns or requests were taken seriously, no matter how minor. A few months later, we remain extremely happy with our home. Hiring Dependable was a good decision.

When everything was said and done we were very happy with the job that Dependable did on our ensuite (total rebuild) and upstairs bathroom (update/lipstick renovation). The renovation occurred during the change in ownership. There were some issues with communication early through the transition. We addressed the issue with Dependable, they listened to us and made all the appropriate changes which is why we are giving them 5 stars. Michelle, went above and beyond for us, several times when we ran into supply change issues. Overall we had a very positive experience and would work with them again.

Dependable Renovations built an addition (master suite) onto my bungalow last year. I had been looking into make the footprint of my house larger for some time. We had met with a few different people/companies and nothing seemed to work or they were unwilling to provide me with options that suited my goal. Dependable Renovations worked with me and recommended we bring in an architect to provide the vision and drawings that we needed to help us understand what an addition to our house could look like, this was well worth it. Dependable’s staff and sub-contractors were great throughout the build. Construction started at the beginning of March 2020, just as the pandemic started. They continually adapted and made sure we felt comfortable throughout the process. Along the way we requested and made changes and they always accommodated and incorporated them. The renovations included adding around another 400 sq ft onto our current bungalow, including a master bedroom, walk-in closet and 3-piece bathroom. In order to make this addition seem seamless there was a new roof, siding, eaves, and concrete work done around the exterior of the property as well as adding on solar panels. The interior changes were even greater, including upgrades to the furnace, plumbing, electrical, matches to flooring etc.. Today, we have a beautiful home and new room that has always looked like it belonged! I have had many other renovations done over the years, and much smaller in scope but this major renovation by Dependable was actually the best by far. Thank you to everyone at Dependable Renovations, (Barry, Lisa, and your team) it was a pleasure working with everyone. We are so pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend their services to anyone else looking to do renovations.

Dependable Renovations did a bathroom renovation for us this winter and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. It was a bathroom that was sorely in need of not only a facelift: it needed plumbing and major re-wiring work that involved the attic, hallway and stairwell. It’s the only full bathroom in our home so time and flexibility were of the essence. Barry told us it would take three weeks. It took exactly three weeks. The crew members were considerate (our house is small), friendly, knowledgeable and skilled and the transformation from shabby and worn-out to absolutely beautiful was almost a shock because I didn’t visualize it would be that much of a beautiful transformation. I was reluctant to let anyone use the bathroom because I wanted to keep admiring it in its pristine state. Fortunately, the daily upkeep is very easy. Kudos to the entire crew and a special thank you to Lisa for keeping us on track, keeping us on budget, apprising us first of any potential budget changes and helping us make decisions when we were undecided or in need of an objective view point. Regardless of the size of the renovation, small like ours or a major renovation like our friends (who referred us to Barry and Lisa) had them do, our opinion is that Dependable Renovations is a five-star company at every stage of the process, regardless of the size. We had the pleasure of Dependable Renovations do a kitchen renovation for us and we could not have wished for a better experience. We decided to have a bearing wall taken out between our old kitchen and dining room and combine the two into a large kitchen. Barry and Lisa made the daunting process of a large renovation seamless and we did not experience any of the stress that we thought would lay ahead of us. They were very thorough and their suggestions helped us identify what we wanted to achieve and they were so patient with our endless questions and modifications. Once the project was underway they were very hands-on to ensure all of the details were looked after and the sub-trades they chose were excellent in both quality work, approachability and professionalism. Their attention to detail was top notch and they were most accommodating with any change orders we had. Not once did we feel that our evolving and changing requests and decisions were an inconvenience for Barry and Lisa; they handled them all in stride with the utmost professionalism. There are renovators that have all the technical skills and then there are renovators like Barry and Lisa who not only have the technical skills but also have amazing hearts for people and their home renovation dreams. They were more than renovators; they genuinely cared about us and our family and we have since kept in touch with them after the completion of the project. We cannot say enough about Barry and Lisa.

We have recently completed a whole home renovation of our 1960s bungalow with Dependable Renovations. The electrical, plumbing, several walls, kitchen and 3 bathrooms were completely renovated without issue. Lisa, Barry and all of the trades were professional and a pleasure to work with and have in our new, old home. Communication was timely and efficient. The Reno started and ended as planned. I would recommend Dependable Renovations for any renovation plan.

Barry, Lisa, and the Dependable Team were wonderful to work with. From start to finish, communication was clear, work was on schedule and completed to a high standard. We are so pleased with our project, and the level of knowledge and professionalism of Barry, Lisa and all their tradespeople. From the first meeting we felt at ease with them! The project began on time, and they were ready for us to move back in on the date promised. We were kept fully informed throughout the duration of the project by both Barry & Jim...and the BuilderTrend app they utilize was an excellent tool to make sure we could see in real-time what stage our project was at. We can’t say enough good things about Dependable Renovations. They are an amazing team with top-notch qualified trades. Thank you Barry and Lisa!

We have done a recent bathroom and office remodel with Dependable Renovations. This is our second project with them, the first one being a kitchen / bathroom / powder room reno done several years ago. Prospective clients should know that, since July 2021, Dependable Renovations is under new ownership. We were not aware of the upcoming change in ownership when we gave Dependable Renovations our most recent contract. The transfer in ownership happened about a month into our project. We were very pleased with our first experience with Dependable Renovations in 2019. What stood out was the fact that everything exceptionally well managed : deadlines were respected, the trades knew the scope of work, and the owners were very involved and in constant communication with us and with the trades. Essentially, during our first experience with Dependable Renovations, we did not have to worry about a thing : the work was done well, on time, and within budget. We had a vastly different experience this time. To be fair, the new owner had big shoes to fill. We also acknowledge that inheriting an existing project with existing clients must have been challenging. However, even though the official ownership transfer happened about a month into our remodel, Chris (the new owner) had been around since the start, initially introduced to us as a manager, and therefore had ample time to familiarize himself with the details of our project. Things started falling apart quickly after the change in ownership. What was supposed to be a 10 week project ended up taking 8 months to complete. Some of the delays were due to supply chain shortages (therefore out of anyone’s control), and we are in no way blaming these delays on Dependable Renovations. But there were also substantial delays that occurred due to poor planning, and damages that required repairs. Some of the problems that we encountered included : lack of communication, a high turnover in project management, and little oversight from the new owner (who remained uninvolved throughout our project). The trades who worked on our house did a great job, and we would hire them independently in a heartbeat. But the project was poorly managed after the change in ownership. Essentially, for a big portion of our project, we could not trust that things would run smoothly!!! Because of that we had to be present on site daily, confirm that the trades had actually been booked, check in with the trades to make sure that the entire scope of work had been appropriately communicated to them, and outsource solutions to encountered problems ourselves. Basically, after the change in ownership we had to keep track of every single detail to ensure that things actually kept progressing. Unfortunately, this is not what we signed up for when we hired a company who charges >20% management fees. Ultimately, we want to be fair in our review. The management was not up to the standard that we experienced during our prior renos with Dependable. However, we are still giving them a 3-star review because there seemed to be some good will. Towards the end of our project, after numerous complaints, Jim was brought in as our new project manager, and things improved substantially. Jim (who has been with Dependable for several years) was reliable and organized and made sure that the job got done. Dependable did fix some of the mistakes and all the damages that they caused at their own cost, and the renovations ended up being completed adequately. I am hoping that the problems we encountered were due to lack of experience, and that things like communication, owner involvement, and scheduling will improve over time. However, after this experience, we will not be hiring Dependable for any of our remaining renovations, and can no longer recommend them to others.

We had dependable design and carry out a front addition on our house, new siding, driveway and other upgrades like new gutters, fascia etc. The quality of the craftsmanship that their contractors delivered was excellent and Dependable did a great job ensuring when something wasn't perfect that it would be fixed. We're very happy with the work that was done and can't imagine how we were living without our spacious and beautiful front entrance before. The reason we give 4 stars and not 5 is that the project completion dragged on for 2 months and the final stucco painting wasn't done before the temperatures dropped, hence will have to be delayed until spring. Not a huge problem but given we live in Calgary this was a foreseeable obstacle. Nonetheless we are happy and grateful.

We were highly impressed with the professionalism and quality of work from the entire Dependable team. After meeting with various contractors, we knew Dependable was our choice once we met the team as every worker was very respectful, polite, and had years of experience! We also had a newborn while renovations were taking place and I was impressed with how clean and tidy the 'construction site' was. Our reno took 6 weeks and every job was completed on time! We definitely recommend Dependable Renovations for anyone who is considering a reno...you would be in great hands and are guaranteed a job well done!!
