Gary has worked for us on two separate renovation projects. He is extremely personable and knowledgeable about all aspects of construction and we would certainly recommend him.

Gary and his team did an amazing job on our deck renovation project from start to finish. Highest marks for
these guys! We went from a measly 10x15 deck made of wood to a beautiful finished 25x15 with Trex and
synthetic balusters. Great job Gary!

Gary remodeled our master bathroom. His work was exemplary and we love the result. He listened to our requirements and provided a fair and detailed estimate. All of his subs were were friendly, conscientious, and clean. The work was done on time and to our specifications.

Very negative experience with this company, unfortunately. Shoddy tile work, terrible communication, very unprofessional. Will have to get another company to come fix their work. Do not recommend.
ETA: His below response is laughable. Gary is an incredibly poor communicator (after agreeing on an initial start date, he did not send the list of supplies he promised and did not communicate with me again until the day before the start, so of course I didn't have the supplies), does not stick to timelines (we never expected it completed in a week, but it took 3-4), and has plenty of negative reviews. I did not choose the shower glass--he did--and I canceled the order myself after he *lied* and told me it wasn't able to be canceled. Of course we never "withheld payment". See pictures for more details of shoddy work--yes, that is a cracked tile that they installed, a hole between two pieces of trim, grout that is very inconsistent and looks like different colors throughout the surround, and poorly cut tile.
And as evidenced by his response both to my review and to others: he will try to blame the customer instead of taking responsibility and fixing the problems. Avoid this company--there are plenty of good ones out there from which to choose. G Double just isn't one of them.

Kommentar von G Double Construction, Inc:
This Client was very hard to please despite the fact that we did the following: 1) Accommodated her change of start date 3 times, 2) picked up and delivered all of her tile from 2 stores in Raleigh & Durham' which she was supposed to have on site as per our contract, 3) started her bathroom demo with only 1/2 of the plumbing fixtures on site because she ordered it too late, 4) we started the bathroom demo with no design or layout plan in hand because she decided to leave for 1 week vacation the day we were supposed to start. We had to figure it out via text and phone correspondence. 5) her insistence that we complete the bath demo, tub install, re-tile of shower, drywall repair and trim install, paint, wood floor repair and clean up in 7 days with a significant handicap from her poor planning.
Upon her arrival, the first thing this Client does is pick apart our work. We immediately corrected all of her issues right away. We completed all of the tile and plumbing work within the 7 days but we finished the remainder shortly after. I personally made sure all of our agreed tasks were completed and looked great per our contract. I was very proud of the finished product, as I am of all our projects .
Things went south when this Client withheld payment to us for work completed the she tried to use it as leverage against us. In addition to that, in lieu of a shower curtain, I designed her new shower to have a clear glass partition wall which she liked, wanted and chose. Without my authorization, this Client cancelled my order for the glass partition and opted for a shower curtain with no explanation. Because of that abrupt change on her part, the result was water getting around the curtain and get on her wood floor. As a result of all of these challenges created by this Client toward us, I was not going back. She did eventually pay us, but is was a 'pain in the neck.' Due to her erratic choices and poor planning, I felt that there was no pleasing her and I had to leave her alone. She is now on a vindictive campaign to harm our name and reputation. I would not be in business for 24 years in NC with high ratings on all platforms if I was a bad Contractor. See for your self.... Google my name.

In June of 2019, we contracted Gdouble (Gary) to build a bathroom (including the plumbing) in a finished room above our detached garage. Biggest part of the job was to install water pump and route plumbing from main house to the garage. First impression of Gary was very positive; he seemed to understand what we were trying to accomplish and was able to provide us a quote within a few weeks. He roughly estimated that work should not take more that a couple of weeks. He had a reasonable plan with 4 stages of work for which stage we would pay ¼ of the cost.
First signs of trouble started with plumbing and inability to pass city inspection. Reflecting back I am even more shocked that Gary and his plumber (wake forest plumbing) were going to leave a vent right in our crawl space under the kitchen.
The inspector said our house would smell with the sewage venting right under it; Gary and his plumber insisted it wouldn’t. Gary and his plumber were in agreement about their plan - build the sewage vent in a way that would pass inspection by taking the vent pipe along the side of the house past the roof. Then, after passing inspection, changing the vent so it ends midway along the side of the house. He openly explained this to us, and we had to directly tell him that no changes could be made after the inspection that would leave our property outside of compliance with building codes. Gary continually tried to tell us that the inspector was too strict, and there were other inspectors that were better. We read up on the building code; the inspector was not strict, the code is very clear and well defined. Whether the inspector was strict or not doesn’t change the fact that Gary wanted to finish the project with our property out of compliance with building code. The solution we all agreed on was to have the sewage vent pipe run along the side of the house to the roof, and to cover it with a downspout/gutter, so it blends in.
They also ran into an issue where that main pipe under the house was not wide enough to support 4 bathrooms according to code.
When that issue came Gary first tried to probe and see if we would pay extra for work his plumber would have to do to replace main pipe. We told him that he needs to work this out with his plumber as he should know the code on allowed pipe capacity. Gary did agree and was able to work it out. (This probably put us about 2-3 weeks behind) Once we got behind schedule quality and care started to go significantly down. (I am suspecting Gary had a lot of jobs and we were not his number 1 priority)
1.Our garage and furniture that we moved there was covered with caulking and construction dust. (Nothing was protected). Our garage floor is still covered with white paint and spots from calking. (perhaps they thought garage space is ok to leave messy, unfortunately there is more)
2.This is being first time we are doing a big project I was hoping Gary would provide step by step instructions and details. Everything with Gary and his contractors was last minute. Plumber needed shower valve; Gary called me that day and asked me when I am going to bring it over. He was supposed to email us how much tile and what type of grout we should get; we ended up just figuring it out ourselves. My significant other (who luckily was not working during summer) on multiple occasions would have to run to home depot because Gary needed something that he forgot to mention. Very careless with clear disregard for our time.
3.Before we signed a contract we also discussed with Gary option to remove a brick wall in our patio; once we reviewed a quote we decided it was too expensive for us and he took it out of the final contract. Then in the end of summer (project was still going on) we see that the brick wall is all marked up. I again texted Gary and told him not to remove it if it was not part of a contract; as we got back home from weekend away the wall was gone.(HOA was not notified and could have gotten us in trouble) The worst part is that he tried to use that as an excuse later on not to do work that he already started. (more on this later)
4.Water leaked into our garage where the wall to the garage was cut to install plumbing. It took Gary three attempts to fix the leak and seal the wall around the pipe. Each time it leaked Gary pretty much told us it was our fault. He presented himself extremely unethical. (he basically just wanted to get payed and get out)
5.Last major issue was with shower door installation that Gary told us to buy. He started installing it and ran into an issue where door height would not fit under angled ceiling. At that point Gary told us that installing shower door in the bathroom he construction was not part of his contract and we should pay him the rest of the money as his contractual obligation is complete.(at that point he had door frame already incorrectly drilled into the tile) Let me also mention that in process of trying to install it he installed shower frame crooked and damaged brand new shower tile which he just patched once he reinstall shower door frame for the second time. He could not come up with any creative solution, he told us that he has a guy who does customer doors and it would be several thousand dollars. I told him that it was outside of our budget and suggested another idea that would require cutting a small hole in a ceiling for the door to slide in.( which is what ended up doing) After all different type of excuses including removal of Brick wall he ended up putting a shower door in.
By the end of the work with Gary we both felt extremely dissatisfied with Gary and wanted him to fix remaining items on check list and leave. Everything he seemed to touch in the end of the project would cause more issues. (for example: in process of shower door installation we believe he broke one of the shower doors) Even 4 months later we were still finding glass in the shower and bathroom floor. (both of us stepped on a glass few times in the process). Gary told us his clients never call him back to redo anything. He is definitely right we will not be calling him back to re-do anything but not because we are satisfied.
Minor things-
1.Patio bricks were put back together after piping was done. It started to cave in since it was not leveled. I ended up redoing it myself.
2.I had to power wash my patio as debris from construction and clay was not well cleaned.
3. During plumbing work one of our bushes in front of the house was removed and never replaced. (perhaps that’s standard)
4.Shower floor is discolored and grout is cracking in a few corners. Will be re-grouting myself. (We called tile guy who installed it; he tried to clean it but left it the same) We also have some sharp debris sticking out of the grout that I had to remove myself.
In summary we would not hire Gary again and were dissatisfied with overall experience and work quality.

Kommentar von G Double Construction, Inc:
Thank you for your comment. I have to admit, this was not an easy project to complete on so many levels due to several factors unknown to me prior to our starting the project. Some things I was at fault and others I was not. Either way, I am untimately responsible and I have no problem accepting blame. That is a consequence of being the boss.
What I have learned from this project is that it is not easy to deal with a client who is at odds with you, for what ever reason. When trust is compromised by either party, it yields animosity. I try my hardest not to create that type of climate. At the end of the day, my Client has a beautiful, fully functional bathroom, where one did not exist before.. You can judge for yourself by seeing the pics I posted on Instagram and LinkedIn., just look up G Double Inc and you will find it.
I wish Alex and his Girl Friend the best. Im happy that they hired us to build their bathroom, but sad we ran into the headaches. I can't please everyone no matter how hard I try. This is an example.....

Gary worked tirelessly to insure I was completely satisfied with all the work. I would use him again in a heartbeat. There was one bid that was lower but something made me think the guy was low-balling me. In contrast, I was particularly impressed with G Double's response to the bid. I knew exactly what I was getting and how much I would pay ... and that was what I paid. I was so happy with the work that I recommended G Double Construction to a couple of close friends at work.
Description of work:
A load-bearing wall was removed, an opening into a room was enclosed, hardwood flooring was installed, other hardwood flooring in the house was refinished to match the new hardwoods, downstairs and upstairs playroom and hallways were repainted, new exterior doors were installed and one was enclosed, lots of trim work, brick fireplace redone with stacked stone.

Gary remodeled our cellar to be a finished basement with full bathroom. Everyone that worked in our home was respectful, courteous and friendly. Almost all of the work was done during our workday, and they were very conscientious of our family time.

We had moved into our house which had an unfinished basement. After going through several other contractors, we settled on giving Gary the contract. And we're glad that we did.
Our unfinished basement was pretty much a concrete cold space from the walls to the floor. The entire basement had to be framed out so that walls could created. We had electricity already established down there, but needed to expand the system for provisions to improve lighting and an in-walled speaker system of a theater room. We also had a bathroom with a shower, wet bar, and a heating/air conditioner installed. Our basement of itself was a little over 1000 Sq. Ft.
We had some plans drawn up and Gary follow them-to-the-letter. And if he felt something would be of a benefit to us, despite what the plans would say, he would share his ideas with us. He brought over samples of cabinetry, countertops, and carpet. He was pretty good at coordinating his sub contractors and letting us know who was scheduled to come and do whatever part of the projected they were responsible for. All of them were friendly and also took the time to explain things to us within their own expertise.
We enjoyed working with Gary because he was always accessible to us if we had questions or needed clarification. I would recommend him to anybody and would definitely use his services for myself, again.

I hired G Double Construction to complete a renovation, which included relocating my kitchen, adding a second floor above my old 2 story kitchen, adding a half bath, and adding a laundry closet. Gary was a pleasure to work with. He is a consummate professional with a commitment to customer satisfaction. His team went above and beyond to help me realize my vision. I was amazed by his calm demeanor and ability to creatively solve unexpected challenges. In an industry overrun by scam artists, I was blessed to find Gary. I tell all my friends that I love my contractor! I'm still working my way through a fixer upper and I look forward to working with G Double on my future projects.
