Glenn's design practice is the culmination of lifelong interests in 19th, 20th and now 21st-century art, literature, fashion, historic preservation and architectural history. These interests are manifest in work that is stylistically diverse, but beautifully crafted and integrated into the architecture of the space. Glenn is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design where he was awarded degrees in Fine Arts and Architecture. After graduation, he worked on commercial and residential projects for interior designer Juan Montoya and acclaimed architect Rafael Vinoly. Glenn launched his own firm in 1987 and soon established a diverse clientele in the New York metropolitan area. His work includes residences in Manhattan, Westchester, Connecticut, New Jersey and Florida, as well as summer homes on Long Island and Martha's Vineyard. He has also designed showrooms for fashion designer Michael Kors, offices for leading New York executives and the 7000 square foot Marissa Collections store in Naples, Florida. Glenn has been included in House Beautiful's and New York Magazine's "100 Top Designers" list. His work is regularly published in many leading publications, including Town & Country, Elle Decor, InStyle, House Beautiful, Interior Design, The New York Observer and The New York Times, as well as in numerous books.

Working with Glenn Gissler Design on two projects has been a pleasure. From the outset, they made it clear that they wanted to learn what our vision was and about our lifestyle. Ultimately, Glenn and Craig proposed intelligent design solutions and sought to streamline the installations for minimal impact upon our normal daily living. They exceeded our expectations. The characteristic that impresses me most about the GGD aesthetic is how the combination of considered architectural lines and a harmonious, yet understated, color-palette produces an overall feeling that everything belongs precisely where it is situated. Glenn Gissler Design came highly recommended to us - and while staying on budget, they delivered a comfortable, yet elegant design synergy that pleases the eye.

Right after my husband and I purchased a new loft-style apartment that had limited natural light, Glenn and his team took over construction from the developer reconfiguring many spaces to improve the spatial flow which brought grace and ease to a potentially awkward layout. They were always present making sure the job stayed on schedule and to intervene when there were complications. Glenn found creative ways to add LOTS of additional storage following one of his lifestyle mantras ‘ storage is a key to mental health’, he also integrated architectural lighting, lamps and a strategic use of mirrors to make the space feel bright and cheery. Glenn designed a distinctive and comfortable family-friendly apartment that works well when we are all together but also provides autonomy for everyone, this has served us well as our children have grown up. Lastly, Glenn introduced us to fine art and worked with us over a number of years to put together a personal collection of modern and contemporary art – and to our surprise it was deemed worthy of being included in VIP tours for the Armory Art Fair in New York City.

We purchased an unremarkable Colonial house on a great site overlooking the Long Island Sound that needed a complete renovation, and found Glenn Gissler Design after researching interior design experts on the internet. We loved his design sensibility and seamless eclectic mix of furnishings, as well as his professional but affable personality. Working with him did not disappoint. He spent a great deal of time finding out not just about our taste but how we lived in a space. The result was a comfortable custom dwelling that took advantage of our water views and reflected our lifestyle. Glenn has extensive architectural as well as interior design experience which enabled him to tackle the project from the macro elements such as the reorganization of rooms, floor plans, lighting, window layouts and furnishings down to the micro details of moldings, porch columns, backsplash color, etc. We could not be happier with the process and the results.
