Shawn Gordon came highly recommended by two neighbors who had used his services. They praised his design but also highlighted his attention to detail and responsiveness. My son used Gordon Architecture for a whole house remodel with a modern feel which I feel is a strong suit of Shawn. My project was to take down a 50"s ranch and build a new ranch with a similar footprint but with an updated mid century feel. I had spent years collecting ideas from Houzz into a portfolio. Shawn took all the ideas and implemented them to design our dream home. Everyone who has seen it has been blown away by the creativity of the design and the functionality. The builder who had never worked with Shawn before felt his professionalism and ability to collaborate made the project so successful. If you interview Shawn do not take his quiet demeanor for lack of enthusiasm. I worked with Shawn to design my house in Glen Ellyn. Shawn completely understood my vision and the house is exactly what I wanted. I was going for an "urban cottage" feel - smaller rooms but with style. At Halloween (we moved in October 1), I received so many compliments from the moms in the neighborhood about how great the house looks and how well it fits with the neighborhood. Shawn not only did the original plans but also designed the kitchen. I think he was surprised that I agreed to the design with maybe one or two changes but he actually got it the way I wanted it the first time. He's a great listener, provides meaningful input and is super to work with. He visited the site a number of times and was great at providing "constructive feedback" to the builder.

We were very pleased with the work of Shawn Gordon (Gordon Architecture. Inc., Wheaton, IL 60189) on the concept and architectural design for our vacation home built in Door County, Wisconsin. Shawn listened to our needs, preferences and dreams and helped us shape them into a practical reality. He worked with us to create and visualize alternatives from concept drawings to detailed architectural specifications for our builder. We hired Gordon Architecture to draw plans for exterior remodeling of our home. Shawn Gordon carefully listened to our ideas and the changes we wanted to make to our house. He provided suggestions and drew and revised the plans as necessary to come up with the final plan that totally exceeded our expectations. Shawn is a great communicator, he was very good to work with and he worked exceedingly well with our contractor. He also assisted us in selecting our contractor. He followed the project through to complition and followed up with us after the project was completed. We highly recommend him and will definitely hire him for future projects.

Shawn designed my dream Master Bath, and he was very flexible, easy to work with, and highly expert. He was very open to my ideas, and he created designs until we came upon the ideal layout, and I can honestly say that his work was "top-notch." My Master Bath was completed (built) in October 2013, and it's everything I ever wanted in a custom design - he worked into his construction plans every element that made this a perfect Master Bath. His collaboration with my Contractor was also very smooth. Shawn is punctual, he keeps his promises, and he's a highly skilled architect who knows how to communicate on all levels. I recommend him without reservation.

Shawn Gordon was chosen because of proximity to my home. I strongly wanted an architect from my community. From the very first meeting I liked him immediately. He was professional, on time, listened carefully, interpreted my ideas as I shared them. Loving the field of architecture myself, I thought perhaps he may not embrace my own desires. Thankfully, I was wrong. Shawn took time to listen as we drove and critiqued every traditional entry around town! Because he listened, I listened and was open to more of his bend on a more updated and ever so slight contemporizing my traditional entry! He willingly and thoughtfully met with my European builder/carpenter. Together they worked well... and found out that they lived close by each other. This firm comes highly recommended. I only wish I could take this firm to Texas!

We worked with Shawn to design a corner nook and table for our recently remodeled kitchen. Shawn listened to our desire for more seating and storage as well as improved traffic flow. He designed a practical and beautiful solution that addresses all three. He also added his own ideas to the conversation suggesting that wainscoating be added to the wall behind the bench. He designed the custom table so that it perfectly fits the space and our needs. He worked hand in hand with the team who built and installed the new nook and table. Shawn is a pleasure to work with. We are working on our 3rd project together which is a small vacation cabin in Wisconsin. He is a very professional architect with fees that are very reasonable and his attention to detail is outstanding. When it became apparent that I was going to need to do something about the kitchen in my 1893 Queen Anne Victorian house, I needed some help. Pretty much everything, from the appliances to the floor to the cabinets and countertops needed to be addressed. I knew I wanted quality solutions, and I was prepared to spend appropriately, but not extravagantly, to get that result. Most importantly, I wanted a kitchen that looked like it fit in a house built in the late 19th century. But I really had no idea where to start and could not spend significant amounts of time figuring it out. I asked Shawn Gordon if he could help, not sure whether this was in the mainstream of the work he did. I could not be happier with the result. Shawn meticulously researched period-appropriate alternatives for every aspect of the project. He took colors, architectural style, lighting and practicality into consideration. He photographed the all of the surrounding rooms and made sure that the kitchen concepts he presented to me blended with the adjacent spaces. All the while, he was careful to keep in mind practicality and my budget. I am delighted with everything Shawn suggested and delivered. From the pine floor and wainscot to the period-appropriate hardware and lighting fixtures to the custom-designed cabinetry and countertops, I ended up with a completely remodeled and updated kitchen that fits perfectly in this old house.
