I have worked with Michael Oxman and Associates on several projects. These projects have included apartments and high end custom homes in the DC metro area. The ideas that come out of their office are unique and create an architectural masterpiece, not just another cookie cutter home that is just like the next one in the subdivision.

It is a pleasure to recommend Michael Oxman for architectural and design services. Mike is the consummate professional by training, but he has a particular gift in the area of planning that makes him a valuable treasure for someone initiating a new project. He has the ability to engage a group of folks at the front end of the planning process. The approach saves money, avoids mistakes and makes end users happy. Mike gathers the vested parties in one room to create a plan that responds to everyone's needs. It is quite remarkable to be part of the activity and to witness a design concept reveal itself in logical format, based on everyone’s input. At the end of every such session I have been involved in, the parties leave the room with the feeling that they know where they are going, why they are doing it, and how to move forward with the next logical step in the process. He has a fancy name for this process called the “design charette”, but I call it a “time saving, money saving process!” Individuals present during these sessions depend on each project. To list a few examples: in one case I had members of the Board of Directors and the staff of the Boys and Girls Club in the room, while we worked to convert a gift parcel of land into a new facility. In another case I had a father and 3 sons at the table to design a condominium plan for land they owned. In yet another case I had 3 realtors, my civil engineer and my partner involved to create a paired home community. Mike has done at least a dozen such projects for me in Harrisonburg and the surrounding area. My competitors and others have seen the process and retained him to do work for them as well. I have worked with Michael Oxman and Associates on numerous projects, both personal and for my real estate sales and rental business. I find the firm to be highly professional and qualified and especially consistent in determining what it is that I want to build. We work together to bring about design plans that always exceed my expectations. One particular personally owned project is located in Free Union, Virginiaon 75 acres. There were 3 phases to this project. The first was to remodel an historic old home into a beautiful cozy gatehouse that would become fully equipped with such amenities as gourmet kitchen yet retain all of its original character. Located at the entrance to our property adjacent to a mountain stream, the Oxman firm transformed a run down farm house into a lovely modernized home. The second phase was to design a lake which the eventual large log home would overlook. Finally, the log home itself was designed. We initially met for 2 full days and spent over 20 hours on preliminary sketches. Taking hand hewn logs from a 200 year old barn these would form the core of a gorgeous structure that has 3 main bedrooms, an apartment over a 3 car garage, exercise and game rooms, a wine room, a second 3 car garage for antique car projects, an indoor heated pool, a gourmet Tuscan kitchen, and a Great Room with massive stone and log fireplace. All of this taking in 360 degree views in a Little Switzerland setting. One of the things I am most impressed with is the initial time spent with owner/developer to go onsite equipped with exact topographic details and the time spent revising the initial sketching until we are satisfied.
