Jane Thompson Architect

I would not recommend this architect. Like the other reviewer, I found the costs high and there are numerous mistakes with the details (20K for the plans). Moreover, I did not feel the team provided much value add in terms of the drawings for the project (in particular the roof lines, ceiling height and maximize windows notwithstanding the fire code restrictions).

We were very happy with the plans that Jane drew up for our +800 sq ft renovation to our 1940's 1 1/2 storey house. She was very attentive and professional. Her plans were also creative and they worked hard to incorporate all our ideas, with great attention to detail. I have seen and appreciated many homes around our neighborhood that display Jane's amazing talent. We also like her very much. This is why we hired her. For two reasons I give them only 3 stars: 1- the price was very high... it is a very convoluted and confusing pricing strategy. I did my research and I knew that she was a higher-priced architect... so we assumed we would get quality - still i feel we overpaid. 2- the plans mistakenly had 7' ceilings!! even though her assistant visited our property 4 times to measure 8' tall cabinets to ensure a room would fit them perfectly. LUCKILY our family caught the mistake before the roof trusses were up and it ONLY cost us $3000 to move the beams. An unforgivable and costly mistake made by an assistant, clearly the plans were not thoroughly checked. What house built this century would have 7' ceilings?
