We are empty nesters and after living in our Danville home for 28 years; we decided it was about time to completely renovate our front and back yards. We hired Riedel Precision Landscaping as our landscaper contractor. They were highly recommended by our landscape architect, John Montgomery. John Riedel, the owner, has been easy to work with and his crew are very professional. John is extremely knowledgeable, creative, and conscientious. We absolutely love our beautiful yard and are throughly enjoying it! We only wish we’d done it years earlier!

Riedel Precision Landscaping has been the very best possible contractor I could have hired for my large remodel of two of my yards. The owner is John Riedel, a very friendly, genial and disarming man. But don’t let his friendly manner confuse you, he is the master tactician. The inclusion of the word “Precision” in his company name is certainly not an accident. Boy is he precise and detail oriented about everything he does. Every time I ask him a question, he’s already thought about that long before and formulated a plan to address that issue. For example, I asked him to put in rust-free mesh below the new lawn he is installing, in order to prevent gophers from attacking the lawn. “Already included that in my bid-it’s standard for us” was his response. With a major project such as ours, John has and orchestrates several crafts all working side by side, including electricians, stone masons, plumbers, concrete workers, excavators, irrigation, drainage and plant experts, and tractor operators, Trucks show up to deliver needed building materials moments before they are needed, while other trucks are busy hauling away debris. There’s so much non-stop action that it looks like a Cirque du Soleil show, only without the costumes, and John runs it all with a smile on his face, pats on the back of his dedicated team, and somehow he finds a way to make me as the customer feel like my questions are the most important thing in his life every time I talk to him. Speaking of his team, most of them have been with him for decades. You can easily tell they have such pride in their work and esprit d’ corps. They all help each other out and seem to really like each other. You don’t get that kind of teamwork without great people working under equally great leadership. Ok, what about my job you might be asking yourself? We have a terrific landscape designer in Martin Hoffmann, and John is very clear that he wants the entire project to come out looking like a showpiece resort. He is constantly doing things to make it come out even better. For example, the plans called for two new palm trees in one of the yards. Somehow, John located two beautiful and monster-sized trees in SoCal and he personally drove down there on a Saturday to inspect them before buying them for us. Who does that? John does. I know this review might seem one-sided, but in all honesty, I cannot come up with a single complaint about John, his company, my project, or how my house is going to look when he’s done. All I can come up with is the highest of praise. John is the kind of guy who you just know can’t sleep in because he can’t wait to get back to work. Every morning he tells me how thrilling it is for him to watch the work unfold. And yes, if you are fortunate enough, and your project is large enough, you just might be able to get him to do your job. And if you are successful, count yourself as extremely lucky because you, my friend, will have a great experience and an even better completed project. Of that I am 100% certain. Count me as a completely satisfied and happy client.
