Mel-Ry Construction

We bought a Mel-Ry house during construction over a year ago and Melry has been very helpful in issues we’ve had & punch list. They were easy to contact and sent out someone to review any problems that may have occurred, which was really helpful as we’re new to the area. We were drawn to melry build mostly because of the aesthetically pleasing floor tiles & minimalist white kitchen, we wanted something we could move into with very little effort. The only disappointment we’ve come across is the backyard, which was heavily built up to escape flooding (which is common in the area when it rains) and looks like a very large mound. We noticed this with similar builds in the area. The only difference is that a retaining wall was not built on the sides of the build up, unlike the other Mel-ry builds. Our backyard mound is very large & needs a retaining wall, since it contains our septic system underneath. We’ve only been in the house for 18 months and are already seeing erosion and the top of our septic tank. The soil is extremely soft to walk on, as well. We cant really do anything with our yard until we add a retaining wall, which unfortunately we cannot do right now. Just a bit bummed we can’t enjoy our new home to the fullest & we have to save up for a project on a new home. We’re also concerned about the impending hurricane season, which will further exacerbate the problem. Other than this disappointment, we would recommend Mel-Ry to others thinking of building.

In 2013, Patty and I decided to have a custom home built on our Nettles Island lot. We did a fairly extensive search for builders by interviewing several builders, conducting references checks, physically checking other homes that were built by these builders and seeking estimates for our plans we had not yet put on paper. We selected MEL-RY Construction, Inc. due to the complimentary personalities, excellent references, detailed breakdown of the estimate of building our home, customer service, quality of the homes they built, pricing, and core values of transparency and honesty. We have not looked back since our decision. Our experience with working with Mack Matos and his entire team helped us through our many ideas and desires with great solutions. Our plan was designed and built by Mack’s team of professionals. Mack kept a vigil eye on keeping us on budget with this project. Mack’s patience, creative designs and customer services was exemplary. He understood new homeowners’ stress and anxiety in making critical decisions. We were almost shocked by his subcontractors’ customer service and how friendly and responsive they were to us particularly knowing they were being pulled in multiple other home projects. Not only were we impressed with the subs, but their office staff and field construction coordinator. They were all extremely polite, responsive and accommodating. Even after our home was built in 2014, there were a few minor adjustments needed and Mack and his team were very responsive. It has been 4 years since the house was built, and to this day anytime we have questions about our home Mack has been very responsive. Building a new home especially in today’s regulatory, high cost and hectic environment which can be nerve racking, Patty and I felt our builder Mack Matos and his team helped us through the challenges in our journey as partners and truly were committed to delivering the best home they could build us.
