Mark has done a great deal of remodeling in our house which needed it when we bought it 10 years ago. He made our family room larger and more useable by taking out an ugly fireplace and bookcase and building a corner fireplace and enlarging our living space. Our kitchen remodel is great. Instead of stools and a counter to sit at he installed shelving with glass doors and lights to hold all the knick knacks inherited from many grandmas. They are clean and we can show them off. He also talked us into a granite countertop and a country sink made out of granite which is the best thing we ever did! Big enough for all pots and pans and even a dog! The master bath is amazing with a walk in shower, round with a bench, 5 shower heads, a window with glass bricks and glass bricks surrounding the shower. Put in a special material that just can be wiped off and never needs scrubbing. Our sinks are the same with two built in sinks easy to clean. Got rid of two closets and made a big walk in with lots of shelves and a cedar floor. LOVE IT! The job was done in time and very professionally.

Mark finished our basement last year (11/2015-01/2016) in our 1903 home. He turned a miserable 100+ year old crumbling space into one of our favorite parts of the house. He is a very skilled contractor with a great eye for design. He put in a large egress window and restored the stone foundation around it, and did lighting around the window so that it looks spectacular. This is something we would never have thought to do and is our favorite part of the room. He put a new bathroom down there, rerouted plumbing, HVAC, etc. and it all functions perfectly. He also replaced a structural beam with a steel one to increase headroom. Mark was great to work with and had a very easy-going attitude to the work, budget etc. from the start. Several contractors before him had been unwilling or reluctant to tackle some of the annoying old house challenges but he was very confident from the beginning. The original estimate was reasonable and our final cost was extremely close to it. The only addition was a mutual decision and he discussed the change in cost openly. We have since recommended Mark to several neighbors and friends who have all been very satisfied.

Mark Posiviata is one of the most honest, fair, talented, professional and communicative contractors I have ever worked with. My building is from the late 1800's with historical charm. He has respect for these older structures and experience is modernizing everything so it is more functional for today’s living. His team includes all trades from electrical, to plumbing, to structural to all finishes. I will definitely hire him for any additional work that we may choose to do and I cannot recommend him enough.

Positive Design and Mark are the highest class of building contractors. We were building an accessory dwelling unit (essentially an apartment above a garage) and we hired Positive Design for the design and the work. The project was quite complex with the city review, the foundation underpinning, the framing, sewer, etc. Essentially, it is building a house. They did a fantastic job translating our thoughts into a design and then managing the project until it was completed. They did a fantastic job with the details and made sure that not only was it done right but that it was built with the utmost care. Furthermore, they were very resourceful, took our budget in account, and ensured they did not run over budget. They were very informative on any questions we had, made sure to address our concerns, and made adjustments to accommodate any plan changes on our side. The experience has been fantastic and I highly recommend Positive Design and Mark.

We did a complete kitchen remodel. The project came in on budget and on time (actually finished a week early). He gave us ideas that we would not have thought of to make our kitchen look nicer and give us more storage space. We were thrilled with the professionalism, quality and the end result.
