We had a wonderful experience working with Melanie on a redesign of our early 1900’s home. Melanie supported us at every stage of our project, helping us to source fixtures, finishes and furnishings that all reflected our style and, importantly, fit our needs as a young family. Melanie is creative, flexible and patient, and took the time to ensure that we created spaces in our home that we will love for years to come. She also worked seamlessly with the architect, builders, and vendors on the project, was easy to communicate with, and fun to work with. We couldn’t be happier with our beautiful home!

Melanie was a pleasure to work with. We worked together on one of her clients that had some complexity to the design of their wall that would be finished with custom window coverings but still fun and rewarding. Her vision for their window coverings, which turned out beautiful, using our Woven Woods with wall to wall Drapery. I would recommend Melanie to anyone that needs an Interior Designer. She is professional, very kind, honest, reliable and has a great eye for design. In our business we need to pay attention to detail while setting the expectations to the clients, Melanie exceeds at this. I had a fantastic experience working with Melanie! She of course has a great eye, but on top of that she really listened to my wants and needs, was responsive and stayed within my budget. And she is a delightful person and a lot of fun to work with! Highly recommend.

Melanie transformed our Master Bedroom into a relaxing and beautiful retreat! She utilized our existing furniture, bringing in new paint color, patterned textiles, bedding and accessories. She has a great eye for color and textures. Our smaller project took longer than expected with a death in the family and she was more than patient and understanding throughout the process. She is wonderful about finding items on both the high and low scale for purchasing flexibility and budgets. I look forward to working with Melanie again in other areas of our home especially with the wallpaper she has picked out for our bar area and powder room!

We were the architect and contractor for clients who then hired Melanie to do the interior design. Our scope involved a three story house remodel and addition in the Berkeley hills, and Melanie was involved in picking out finishes and furniture for many of the rooms. From a professional standpoint, Melanie was great to collaborate with. She was responsive and prompt, which is really helpful when keeping the schedule was on track. We were impressed with how she communicated with the clients, and how she helped them select colors, lighting, tile, accessories, additional furniture, etc. that worked with heirloom pieces the family already had. She seemed very respectful of the clients' design preferences, and was also receptive to our professional experience with what would work functionally and aesthetically. Melanie is a friendly person to work with, always positive and thoughtful. We would be happy to find ourselves working with her again.

Melanie is lovely to work with. She listened to my ideas, worked collaboratively with me on a number of projects, and was sensitive to my budget requirements. We are wrapping up our initial project which involved carpentry work, wallpapering, and furniture/art purchases. I'm looking forward to working with her again on future projects!

I used Melanie Stewart Design to remodel my kitchen. The remodel was a gut job that including tearing down a wall (pantry) and adding an eat-in area with banquette. Melanie listened to my needs and suggested design details that were innovative and worked well for our family. She was conscious of budget, timing and always very professional. I may not be the easiest client to work with because I like to see lots of options before making a decision, but Melanie was extremely patient and worked tirelessly to make sure I was happy without compromising design. One of my favorite elements that she suggested was a cabinet with large metal and glass doors, which also became our biggest challenge. Melanie researched and met with a number of metal fabricators working through many drawings until finding John Hewett of Cabinet Crafters who proved to be a true pro in helping to execute these beautiful doors. We LOVE, LOVE our kitchen and could not have done it without Melanie, she’s a real talent!

I had partnered with Melanie on a past interior design project and can say without hesitation that it was a truly pleasurable and valuable experience working with her! Besides having a wonderful design 'eye', her commitment to offering her clients utmost service and attention mirrored my own. As a colleague, I would highly recommend Melanie to any prospective client whose goal is gorgeous design and an upleveled, professional and personable collaboration throughout. One testament to this is her connection to her clients long after a project has completed - Melanie has often maintained friendships with past clients which speaks volumes for the trust she engenders and her genuine warmth as a person. When I contacted Melanie, I was so overwhelmed with all the work that needed to be done at our new house. We had donated a lot of items from our previous home so we could start fresh when we got to San Francisco, which left me with a lot of decisions to make. (I'm not good at making decisions.) I thought it was going to be fun, but it very quickly became stressful. Enter Melanie. She understood my style, helped narrow down my choices, and handled the logistics of each delivery. Together, she and I picked out various important pieces and even had some custom-made. I wouldn't have even tried to get that done without her help. She also gave me access to "designer" pieces I would've never seen if I'd attempted to do this by myself. Any time there was a problem, she dealt with it, calmly and professionally. Finally, she was always mindful of the budget, respecting my wishes for smart purchases, and she never pressured me to do anything I didn't want to do. I was not the easiest client (let's just say I'm opinionated), but Melanie didn't let it get to her. In fact, I'm happy to now call her my friend.

Melanie designed my daughters room, transitioning from baby to toddler. She was able to make it girly but keeping it modern as requested. She did a great job with helping me stay in budget and mixing all price points into the design. She did a fabulous wallpaper in the bathroom that was both fun and something she can grow into. Additionally, Melanie helped finalize several projects/rooms throughout my home. She has a great talent for accessorizing and helping pull ideas together, and has a great eye for color and mixing patterns making them work without it looking too busy. She did a great job keeping the project on budget and meeting deadlines, and is super easy to communicate with and always remains professional. I could not have had my house come together and look and feel like I a home I can be proud of without Melanie's expertise. I highly recommend her for your next design project.

I recently worked with Melanie on our new home in Noe Valley. Although the house was in great condition it lacked any sort of design sense. Melanie worked with us to transform the rooms into bright life-able yet chic spaces. She has a great sense of color and vision for what the room could look like at its most potential. Her ideas are so great that I could have never come up with them myself. One of the greatest things is she really listens to what you want and helps you accomplish your ideal home not necessarily her's. She is extemley respectful of your budget and time as well. Overall she is a fantastic person, amazing designer, and a joy to work with. I wish I had more projects so I could work with her more. -Kelly Kuchen
