Melanie Millner specializes in designing refined, timeless interiors that elevate the way people live and work. Her deep appreciation for architecture and ability to focus on each unique detail enables her to transform clients’ visions into beautifully executed spaces that live as well as they feel. Drawing inspiration from her frequent travels and love of architecture and art, Melanie continues to attract a loyal client base looking to tap into her vision for layered interiors that elegantly exude a sense of comfort and ease.
Melanie was born in New York and spent the formative years of her life on Long Island and in the Northeast. Her family then moved to Texas where she attended The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1990 with a degree in Interior Design. Upon graduation, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and worked for an architectural firm until she gained the experience needed to start her own interiors firm, which she founded in 1993.
The Design Atelier has since become a full-service, high-end interior design firm with a focus on residential and boutique commercial spaces. Melanie has acquired residential clients all over the country, including Georgia, Texas, Colorado, Maine, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
Her projects have been featured in LUXE Interiors + Design Magazine, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle magazine, Interior Design Magazine, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The Atlanta Business Chronicle. She has been a designer for the Southeastern Designer Showhouse in 2016, 2018 and 2020, the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyle Home for the Holidays Showhouse in 2015 and 2016, the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Serenbe Showhouse in 2014, the Atlanta Symphony's Decorator Showhouse in 1999, 2000, 2005 and 2012 and the Alliance Children's Theatre Guild Christmas Showhouse in 2003. She has received numerous ASID Design Excellence awards and is a Registered Interior Designer in the state of Georgia.
Melanie spends free time with her three teenage children, traveling and enjoying summers in Maine.
