We bought a tear-down building and boat house on Lake Minnetonka, and competitively selected MSI to do the entire project. MSI began by efficiently tearing down the old house, and then very thoughtfully began the construction of ours. The entire process to build our dream home and renovate the boat house took about 18 months, the result of which was nothing short of perfection. If I could add photos to this very strong recommendation, I'd certainly do so. They truly are a very excellent builder, capable of not only following detailed architectural designs, but wonderfully improving things along the way. I've never given anyone a stronger recommendation than I am today.

We hired MSI for a kitchen and bathroom remodel. This was our third remodeling project, but the first time using MSI. We only wish we had discovered them sooner! The process was so smooth and stress free. We entrusted Dan Mulrennan to take the lead in making our granite and tile selections, and his choices were absolutely spot on. The project was completed on time and within budget, and there was excellent communication throughout. The were absolutely delighted with the result and would, without hesitation, use MSI on any future project.

My wife Gwen and I recently moved in to our beautiful new home, which was constructed by MSI Custom Homes. We interviewed a number of different builders and toured their homes before selecting MSI and could not be happier with our choice. Working with Dan and his team to build our home was a joy. The attention to detail and the accuracy of the estimates and allowances was remarkable. I was referred to Dan by a family member who told me that Dan was "completely honest" and "meticulous". Now that our home is built, I agree. Several times Dan suggested changes that would save us money and consequently decrease his own pay (we had a cost plus arrangement). After budgeting was complete, we had several large change orders, including but not limited to excavating under the garage for an initially unplanned for home gym and infloor heat in the basement and garage. Since our home has been built, I have learned that Dan works with subcontractors who are generally considered to be the best in the area. Despite our change orders and using the best subcontractors, our final price within 2-3% of budget BEFORE the change orders. Dan's experience and advice were very helpful in making the multitude of decisions that go into building a house. When we had to make decisions about things we did not have knowledge of, we were very comfortable asking Dan what he would do if he were us, and were always confident that we would get an answer that was accurate and in our best interest. I recommend Dan Mulrennan and MSI Custom Homes without reservation.

I am delighted to write this review for MSI Custom Homes, LLC. MSI built our house 7 years ago. First, I have to comment on the process of construction per se: it was a trouble-free, worry-free, and absolutely positive experience. Dan Mulrennan, owner of MSI Custom Homes, gave us a very accurate budget; so we were able to select our materials and appliances and finish the construction of a $1 million house within $5000 of our estimated budget. Dan gave us a timetable to make our selections, so that at the end of each period, we met and finalized that phase of the construction. Everything was timely, accurate, and well organized. Since both my wife and I are busy professionals, the worry-free and trouble-free construction process worked very well for us. Now about the quality: it withstood the test of time! Not a crack in the concrete or the tiles; not a single structural failure or malfunction; no warping, chipping, cracking either inside of the house or out (and this is in the harsh Minnesota climate). We have lived trouble-free for 7 years in this house, and it looks like it was built yesterday! In summary: MSI and Dan Mulrennan will build a highest-quality house for you with no headaches during the construction process...and no headaches for many years to come!
