He has been the most difficult homeowner that I have ever dealt with! A professional scammer who refused to pay the remaining balance and refused to allow my crew to make the minor repair on one of the bottom steps for water run off. Everything was build according to the contract scope. The call out here--the hand rail failing inspection was done as a favor to the homeowner and it just needed to be re-adjusted to the required height (side note: he even complained about the gray color screws that we used to install the handrail which again was not part of the contract but a favor to the homeowner). No other calls out by the inspector and he was pleased with the quality of the project.
Frankly, I feel scammed and cheated from this homeowner because my father and the crew work hard in the summer heat to make sure everything is done right the first time. However, I will not tolerate individuals who deny us the right remedy a minor situation which once again was a favor to be used as a tactic to refuse payment. Looking back, this was probably his plan all along and I am only asking for the remainder of the payment that we are entitled to. We are in the referral business and understand that quality of our work is what keeps us in business.
