Nicolls Design Build

We completed a remodel of our Coronado condo with Kraig and had a wonderful experience. He was professional, attentive to detail, and we are so happy with the quality and end result of our project.

We are very impressed with the quality work by Nicolls Design and Build. We did a kitchen remodel and new patio bifold door install. From demo to drywall the subcontractors Kraig works with had outstanding craftsmanship, while be mindful of cleanliness before, during, and after the job. This is our second live in remodel and his company far surpassed our expectations from our first experience. Kraig is easy to work with and is prompt with communication and scheduling. Loved working with them and our kitchen and door are beautiful. Thank you!!

The craftsmanship is spectacular. All details are first class - he is a terrific professional and transformed our trashed 1980's beach rental house into an Architectural Digest Coastal Contemporary masterpiece. He knocked out walls and used first class materials from custom cabinetry throughout (expensive, and worth it). He rebuilt the plumbing and electrical to accommodate extreme energy efficiency - tankless water heaters, top appliances and for two electric cars - Level 2 chargers in the garage. Kraig worked with my designer seamlessly to keep me from stupid ideas. I cannot recommend him enough. He is not "inexpensive", but if you've ever worked with contractors you know that price is long forgotten when beauty and value is ever-present.

Kraig and his team are definitely some the most professional group of people I've ever hired. They're response to all of my needs and commitment to keeping on track with schedule and budget are phenomenal. After interviewing three builders, I contracted with Nicolls Design/Build to conduct a major renovation of our home in Coronado Cays in San Diego to include a complete new floor plan to (removing walls, raising ceilings, new HVAC, plumbing, electrical) redesigned/enlarged kitchen, bedrooms, new laundry room, and baths. We picked Nicolls Design/Build for three reasons, first his outstanding reputation, second, the quality of his work, and third, his wife co-owns Bungalow 56, an interior design/decorating firm that handled all design work for our new floor plan as well as procurement of all fixtures (electrical and plumbing) and appliances. We are thrilled with the performance of Nicolls Design/Build and Bungalow 56 team. Several highlights: 1)Quality of all work was outstanding. 2)The project was conducted on time and on budget. 3)The design work was phenomenal. Most importantly: The extensive remodel/renovation was completed while my wife and I were living on the east coast, meaning this 5 month project was completed with very little oversight from the owners. The highest praise I can give Kraig Nicolls, the owner of Nicolls Design/Build and his wife Jessica Nicolls and Karyn Frazier, co-owners of Bungalow 56… they are honorable people. Always standing by the quality of their work – and always good for their word. Very rare attributes in today’s home renovation and building market. Honesty and integrity led to the successful renovation of our home. We ended this project with both a new house, as well as new friends, Kraig, Jessica and Karyn. I recommend Nicolls Design/Build and Bungalow 56 without reservation.

Nicolls Design Build renovated our guest bathroom, which we never dreamed would be anything but an ordinary facility, secondary in appearance to the rest of the house. Kraig and his creative and talented crew designed and built a bathroom worthy of royalty - truly a thing of beauty as judged by our family and friends. They were bold in designing and transforming this small space into an surprisingly larger, elegant facility and the workmanship was excellent. Kraig was diligent in supervising the crews who were efficient, polite, and deliverd as promised. We look forward to using this group for other projects as they arise and would refer Nicolls Design Build to others.

We could not be more pleased for all of the work Nicolls has done for us. His personnel are first class individuals and craftsmen. He has performed carpentry, plastering, electrical, framing, painting and most recently the most beautiful tile work we have ever seen on our patio. Everything is done with un-paralled excellence, on time and on budget. What more could we ask for?. A totally wonderful experience!!!

Renovation of 1920 Spanish bungalow came out beautifully! Project had many complexities and Kraig was a great problem solver, very resourceful and creative in finding solutions to maximize function and design in a small older home. We debated tearing down or renovating and are thrilled we decided to keep this house. Kraig has high standards for quality of work and it showed in all the details. His team was very responsive and professional.

Did a wonderful job completely renovating our bathroom. Going to use them again for future jobs. Already have them lined up to redo our back patio.
