We hired Open Hand Remodeling to convert our garage to a studio space at the recommendation of a friend and we were so glad we did! Smadar was the project manager and an absolute pleasure to work with. It ended being a bigger job than we thought because of structural issues with the garage, but Smadar kept us informed and in the loop every step of the way. We had to do some extensive retrofitting, remove a large tree that was causing structural damage, and level out the entire structure (due to the tree root damage) and Smadar brought in an engineer to asses and make sure everything was done to code. We added a patio door and a window, insulation and a mini split AC unit. The whole crew was great - detail oriented, through, and organized. Smadar was on site and sent us texts at the end of every work day to keep us updated. I honestly expected the remodel to be more stressful (especially in these covid times, where delays are expected) but everything went so smoothly from start to finish. Both Smadar and John at the OHR office were communicative, responsive, and always easy to reach by text or email to answer any questions or address concerns. We couldn't be happier with the final result and I'd be happy to recommend OHR to anyone - looking forward to working with them again the next time we have a project!

We hired Open Hand Remodeling to do an update on our house. It was really important for us to find a partner in this process. This is our first home and thus was our first home renovation. We consider ourselves pretty hands on and design savvy so we were looking for a company that would allow us to have heavy input but also guide us on the realities of construction. We also wanted a partner who understood the importance of retaining the charm and quality of our untouched 1932 Spanish bungalow. We found all of this in Open Hand and in particular with Smadar, our general contractor. Our remodel included: complete rebuild of kitchen, new bath, refinishing the original hardwood floors, buildout of outdoor kitchen, new fence and additional landscaping. We are so happy with how the house turned out! And the process was all in all really pleasant. Smadar had great communication and we always felt in the loop and up to speed. Being that we are really particular about all the design details, we definitely gave Smadar a bit of a headache I’m sure but she always listened to what we wanted and helped us find a way to make it happen! One of my favorite things about Open Hand is that even once the project was finished, and if I noticed something looked amiss Smadar was quick to address it and fix it. I could see a lot of of construction companies washing their hands of the job once it’s completed but that was not at all the case with Open Hand.

We completely gutted the inside of our 2000 square foot home and we were fortunate to have Smadar and Open Hand Remodeling by our side. Our home was built in 1942 and the previous owners did not do any major updates. We remodeled our kitchen, knocked down some walls, converted a flat roof into a pitched roof, bathrooms, floors...you name it!!! They told us it would take 3 months and IT TOOK 3 MONTHS. We have heard horror stories about broken promises and we were nervous about choosing the right contractor. We interviewed at least 10 contractors. Each encounter seemed like a speed dating interview and it felt so overwhelming. We saw it all! My wife and I felt a good connection with Smadar from the get-go. We appreciated her attention to detail when she first came to our home. She really listened to us and actually took measurements and notes (unlike most other contractors). Our decision to choose OHR was not based on pricing. We did not want to choose the lowest bidder. On a scale of 1-10, OHR was a 6. They were not the cheapest or the most expensive. Smadar kept us in the loop at all times. Wife and I both work long hours but Smadar would text us pictures of the remodeling progress. We were never left wondering what was going on. She even carved our initials on fresh concrete when we were on vacation. No project gets complete without surprises or issues. Especially a huge project like ours, but Smadar and Danny acted swiftly whenever an issue or problem arose. Thank you Smadar, Danny, and the rest of the OHR crew!!! You made our house into a home. We are very sad that we will no longer receive your daily text messages, emojis, or photo updates.

We can't say enough about Open Hand. Right from the first phone call, they were professional and caring. Showed up on time, were grateful for our business. We really felt that they were there for us, no matter what. We hired them for a complete remodel of our kitchen and bathroom. The quote was competitive - not the lowest, not the highest. But what set them apart was the quality of the work. There was no cutting corners. The crew were not just workers, but artisans in their particular craft. Our project manager, Zaff, went out of his way to make sure we knew exactly what would be happening on what day, and would send photos via text or FaceTime when we couldn't be there. I am a huge perfectionist, and we had a LOT of tile work for the project. Zaff measured so there wasn't excessive overage, and also made sure I got EXACTLY what I wanted with the layout. We greatly appreciated the experience that Danny and Zaff brought - suggestions on decor or framing, etc., were made with a thought not just to aesthetics, but flow and energy. Any minor issues that came up were resolved quickly and professionally. Communication was truly a breeze - we always received quick responses. We came in slightly over budget but only because of "surprises" our Pre-WWII home was hiding. Danny made sure to write out, during our first meeting, everything that we would need in the way of materials - appliances, tile, etc., for us to purchase. (Quote below is for their work only, not including materials). It was much easier to do it this way, and they were always available for consulting. We are already thinking of the next project we could collaborate with them on - they've spoiled us for anyone else! Thank you Danny, Zaff, and Open Hand!

Danny Mizrahi showed attention, diligence, competence and concern from the moment we first consulted with him to the completion of the contracted work (remodeled kitchen and remodeled two bathrooms). The contract was expertly put together, required payment only on completion on agreed upon work, employed highly professional and competent contractors for the work, managed these contractors with the workscope in mind, met and exceeded the time to completion of each workscope, communicated pro-actively, clearly and quickly responded to any question, concern or work issue. We truly were fortunate to have Danny contract to do this work.

Just finished a 6 week remodeling project with open hand and I had to write this review because they were excellent. From the time Danny & Smadar came to give us the estimate, to how the work was coordinated (demo, plumbers, electricians, tile, drywall, carpenters, painters) through to the finished work, everything handled in a professional & timely manner. All work was permitted & we had no problems with the inspectors. Smadar especially was able to communicate to me whatever issues came up, & from me to the guys doing the work so that what I needed done got done. BTW, we had 2 other general contractors bid on this project & Open Hand was the most competitive...all in all a much better experience than we had with similar projects (and there were many) in the past.

Open Hand Remodeling just finished building a brand new custom house for us in Los Feliz. We gutted our old spanish bungalow and built a 2 level modern/spanish house. An endeavour that seemed extremely daunting at first, turned truly joyous In the hands of Danny and his crew. There really aren’t enough superlatives to describe the quality of work and level of customer service these guys provide. In preparation for our project, before even having plans, we met with 4 contractors. We liked Open Hand’s model of Design-Build, thinking (rightfully) that a one-stop-shop operation would make things easier. Danny’s estimate didn’t come up the cheapest nor the most expensive. At the end of the day we just felt comfortable with him and decided to give him the job. From the get go, Danny and his architect were extremely accommodating. Both me and my wife are working long hours and raising two young children, what doesn’t leave us much time for anything else. OHR team worked with our schedule and never pressured us to make decisions before we were ready. Once the City approved our plans we started construction. Again, all our fears and assumptions about unreachable/flaky contractors went out the window. Danny was on the job site every day and constantly gave us updates in person and/or by phone. Needless to say, on a big project like this, not everything went always smoothly. We encountered some major challenges due to complex engineering issues and a very demanding inspector. Here too, Danny always provided full disclosure of everything that’s happening and came up with the most cost effective solutions to move forward. His entire crew, starting with the demo people and ending with painters and finishers is extremely professional, kind and considerate. In every step of the way, these guys’ passion for what they do is showing loud and clear. For anyone who’s considering remodeling or construction of any sort, I can’t recommend Open Hand Remodeling enough.

After buying our fist home, my wife and I set out to do some serious work. We met with about 10 different general contractors and felt that Danny from Open Hand Construction was the most reasonably priced for the amount of work we were interested in doing. Further, we got the impression that there were many contractors who were willing to do shoddy or unpermitted work that only minimally met our standards. Not so with Danny; we got the impression immediately that he was genuinely interested in our vision and wishes. Danny gave us his professional opinion and if our vision differed, he was either open to reasonable changes or spent the time talking to us about why what we had envisioned might not be feasible given our budget. We never felt like we were being pushed to upsell or get something we didn’t really want for the purposes of simply making him more money. He treated us with respect and was fair and patient with us at all times. Our project encompassed many things, but the focus of the work was the kitchen, and it turned out beautifully. Danny and his crew pay great attention to detail and are by and large perfectionists. Additionally, we felt like everyone who came into our home respected our space; Danny and his crew were thorough in their clean up at the end of the day, were on-time, and were friendly. After the project was more or less completed, we went through everything with a fine-toothed comb and every touch-up and concern was addressed. Danny is the consummate professional, an EXCELLENT communicator, and we would (and are planning to) hire him again in the future.

•Open Hand is simply awesome. I went through exhaustive research on the internet trying to find the best and we did...Open Hand. Danny and crew were there every step of the way and Danny has great design ideas and also is a very good communicator. Open Hand doesn't play games like other contractors and when they say they will be there, they are. Open Hand did a major deck/bridge to the 2nd story front door project for us and Open Hand paid attention to every detail and did everything above and beyond our expectations. Their pricing was very competitive too. I have had bad experiences in the past with others but I am going to stick with Open Hand as now we know what a good contractor Open Hand is. I selected Open Hand for a kitchen and bathroom remodel. I liked Danny from the moment I met him -- he was honest and professional, never pushy or overbearing. I felt totally comfortable with him. Throughout the entire project, he always provided the schedule the day before. Texts/phone calls were always answered in a timely manner. Due to his excellent scheduling, he was able to keep the project moving without delays. His team of painters, plumbers, electricians, and tiler all did an excellent job. I am completely satisfied and just love my new kitchen and bathroom. I highly recommend Open Hand for your remodeling project!

Open Hand Remodeling Just gave me a beautiful bathroom, finished right before Mother's Day! We are so thankful that we chose OHR!! After reading reviews on Houzz and Yelp (Second opinion, Always!), we decided to call Open Hand Remodeling for estimate. A lot of contractor companies show up late for free estimate, but the OHR owner, Danny, showed up ON TIME and answered every single question we asked right away! Danny measured everything he needed for estimate and told us the approximate price for our guest bathroom remodeling. It was higher than we expected. But with 2 young kids and a busy life, we do need a remodeling company which can answer all the questions on remodeling,solve the problems right away, and do all of the work for us (except choosing the materials. tubs, vanity etc.) so we decided to use OHR. Danny, went through every step with me and informed me the remodeling schedule and deadline for materials on daily base. I could always call or text for his advices (during his working hours) when I was stuck in Home Depot and Tile stores didn't know how to choose. Danny has some wonderful contractors working with him. He has a professional electricity team for electricity, plumbing team for plumbing, cement + painting team and a tile professional, Amilio, who used his magic to make my bathroom sparkling!! I have to just show these photos as evidence. The result even makes our kids so happy! They watched the old bathroom transformed into a brand new and beautiful one. That was a very special experience. I do recommend that if you want to try OHR, call early!! We are so glad that we did and we will use OHR for the rest of our home remodeling projects for sure :)
