We worked with Pat, Fred and the Godfrey team to update our new house before we moved in and had the absolute best experience we could've imagined. Pat and Fred were professional and responsive - even making time to support a next-day walkthrough to help us with negotiations before we even closed on the house - and all projects were completed on time and within the communicated budget. We wanted to complete a series of projects before we moved into the home on a short timeline and the team rose to the challenge and completed everything on schedule and as beautifully as we envisioned. The Godfrey team's work is meticulous and I felt very in the loop the entire way through the process. I will not be making any future decisions about work in our home without running them by Fred, who stewarded the entire team for us, reached out to me regularly with updates and was extremely responsive whenever I had questions. He is an incredible resource and craftsman - proactive, perceptive and an absolute pleasure to work with; I'm only sad that our work is completed because I won't get to talk to Fred so often! The entire team is also fantastic, extremely respectful, and knowledgeable - Ken, Joe and Dan (who built a beautiful bench for us in our kitchen) - and I look forward to working with all of them again on our next projects.

We've first hired Pat Godfrey and his team in 2016 to renovate the basement of our 200 year-old house in Salem. They were able to work creatively to turn a labyrinth of old fieldstone and staggered support posts into a wonderful family oasis for us and our two young kids. When we moved to a larger (and not quite as old) house in 2020, we immediately called Pat to do a complete renovation of the second floor. This included building two huge dormers, converting one large, awkward bathroom into two spacious new bathrooms, and creating a gorgeous master suite. The architecture of our home presented a lot of challenges as there are sloping ceilings just about everywhere. Pat patiently listened to my ideas and changes. His team was very sensitive to our quality of life during the construction (I was 5-9 months pregnant and raising a 2 and 4 year old!). We had excellent communication throughout. I would recommend Godfrey Design-Build without reservation.

I had an aging kitchen, dining room, and three-season porch that felt dark and closed off from the outside world, and the designers at Godfrey came up with a great plan to combine and transform them into a place that is way more functional and inviting. Like many of the reviews here, I am very pleased with the professionalism, timeliness, and responsiveness of Godfrey Design Build through the whole process. Pat assembles a group of pros to handle every specialty needed to get the job done, and Fred has each contractor and supply deliveries perfectly choreographed so no time is wasted. The extensive plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work appears as if done with pride, not with interest in finishing as quickly as possible. No corners are cut; no cheap materials are used. Godfrey Design-Build did an excellent job remodeling my kitchen and bathroom. I purchased a condo that was originally part of an older home. Pat and his team at Godfrey Design-Build gave me the exact updates I was looking for: modern, with a hint of the home's old charm. Additionally, Pat and his team were able to add baseboard heating and an air conditioning unit, which came in handy over this summer. I could not be happier with the renovations. Pat and his team are not only responsive, but will provide an honest opinion regarding any design options during the renovation process. I highly recommend using Pat and his team if you are looking for high quality work!

Pat and his team did such an excellent job with the remodel of our basement!!! We wanted to expand space in our house and in dire need of help. Pat made the process so easy and knew exactly what to do. It’s amazing to see someone create nothing into something great. They followed all safety protocols and we felt safe as well. the project manager was really accommodating always asking us what we wanted and what he was doing. We felt like he always kept us in the project and didn’t just leave us behind. We now have a new entertainment area for guests and a quiet place where my son can unwind and relax. After meeting with several contractors we are very pleased that we chose Godfrey Design-Build for our project. Pat and his team helped us renovate our basement that included a 1/2 bath, wet bar, media room/game room, along with new windows and doors. From the beginning the entire team was fantastic and clear communicators. Job took a few months to complete. Pat’s team is top notch. Fred the master carpenter truly is a master. He knows his profession and work is top quality. Fred was onsite almost everyday working hard as well as coordinating all activities. He kept everything on track and on time. Team and subcontractors worked tirelessly and were always pleasant. Our result was a new large perfectly laid out combination kitchen dining area, plus a bathroom/laundry. We are so excited with our new space. The entire process was a pleasant experience, something I never thought I’d write about a construction project. The quality of workmanship at every level from initial design to project finishing was outstanding; even the neighbors have been impressed. We wouldn’t hesitate to call on Godfrey Design-Build in the future and would highly recommend them for any construction project, no matter the size. Pat and his team, particularly the master carpenter, Fred, kept the whole project on budget and on schedule, despite the challenge of working safely during a pandemic. Their work ethic, efficiency and quality the work was on display at every stage of the design-build process. Can't say enough about the team at Godfrey Design-Build. Pat was responsive and helpful and had endless reserves of patience with my many changes during the design phase. He just got it. His renderings saved me a lot of heartache as I could see what I had initially envisioned was not going to work. More importantly, Pat consistently conveyed his desire to be sure I got what I wanted while simultaneously guiding me to making better design decisions. He remembered when I was concerned about a design option and during the construction phase would check in with me. Couldn’t have asked for more in that regard. His relationships with his subcontractors was readily on display as he was able to get them to show up on-time, complete the work, return when necessary. Clearly, he has chosen well when it comes to people to work with. His master craftsman, Fred, was also a delight - funny, respectful, pleasant and super talented. Fred’s eye for design was as reliable as Pat’s and watching them work together made me feel like I was in good hands. Fred is an artist and it showed in every aspect of his work. He is also a gentleman and it showed in every aspect of his communication with us. We worked together during the period of social distancing and crew members wore a mask during any interaction. I never had to ask. Both Pat and Fred were ahead of the game with how inspection delays might impact progress, worked with the inspectors to get the work done while adhering to the guideline in place at the time. They also kept us current on the ever-changing plans and requirements during the pandemic. They could not have been more professional and more humane at the same time. We’ve had such a good experience with Pat, Fred and crew that we’ve added 4 good-sized projects to our home improvement plans for the year. I would not hesitate to work with Godfrey Design-Build.
