I was new to Canberra and having brought a block of land went about finding a designer for my plans. I looked on Houzz and read the reviews of local designers. I chose Plan it Green on the strength of those reviews and that certainly proved to be a fantastic decision. Angela is a thorough professional who listened to what I asked for, made suggestions when needed and was happy to ignore those suggestions when I didn't like them and designed a magnificent home. Angela came up with several wonderful design features that added great qualities to the design while keeping the home within specific council guidelines. Our home was designed by Angela to reflect the specific style we were wanting and to ensure that we ended up with a design suitable for our growing family's needs. From the beginning it was a pleasure working with Angela. Her ideas and communication were excellent. Angela took our rough floor plans and wish list (straw-bale house) and turned it into a beautiful design. She was considerate of our budget and desire to owner-build, giving us a design that is uncomplicated but beautiful, functional, and (importantly) easy for me to build. Angela Knock is a true legend. She listened to our brief and guided us through options. At the outset we couldn't decide between a knock down rebuild or a renovation. We finally decided on a knock down rebuild which gave us the scope to design the house to get the best aspect and together we built in novel features, including the use of hempcrete. We are the first in the region to use hempcrete so she helped us with research. We are currently more than half way through the build with yesterday being a milestone of all walls completed. Angela is so committed to her business and being able to learn novel new approaches that she volunteered to help build the hempcrete parts of the house. We are grateful for this extra commitment. So, we are still build-in-progress but very happy with progress. We highly recommend Angela.

Angela just completed the initial design for our house/land package in Murrumbateman. She delivered a well researched brief on her views of the project and how the design would meet our requirements. The proposal fulfilled the brief and delivered the desired outcome with cosmetic changes only. Angela's design principles have delivered a concept with build-ability in mind yet with striking characteristics. We engaged Plan It Green to design a house extension that involved redesigning the entrance, main bedroom, lounge and living room, new kitchen, walk in pantry and two new bathrooms. We found Angela from Plan It Green to be very professional, enthusiastic and excited about our project. A number of other companies we spoke to were only interested in high budget rebuild projects. Angela took the time to listen carefully to our ideas and she improved on these ideas in the final plans. We are very happy with the product she has delivered. Angela was very easy to contact and responded to our e mails and phone calls very promptly. The three main features that we were looking for with our extension were to: improve the energy efficiency of the home; add additional living space to meet the needs of our growing family; and increase the storage space (including adding a garage). The house was very cold in winter and hot in summer and the kitchen and laundry needed to be completely replaced as they were tired and falling apart. Like many others, we had heard horror stories about what could go wrong when undertaking an extension. We were concerned about the range of approvals that we would need to seek and the number of decisions that we would need to make in relation to the design and the build itself. We were also concerned about having a builder that was not able to complete the build without lengthy delays and potential cost blow outs. We found working with Angela to be very stress free and were impressed with the ideas and knowledge that she brought to the project. She was keen to understand what we wanted from the extension and also was able to identify some practical solutions to problems with the existing layout of the house. She quickly modified the plans to incorporate any of our suggestions and helped us understand what some of the trade-offs and budget impacts were for certain elements of the design. She demystified the whole building process for us and took care of the approvals required in order to get the extension started. We feel that the extension has definitely delivered on what we were after. In particular, the extension part of the house has been much warmer than the old part of the house in the Winter months and we are enjoying the new layout and storage space in the house. The extension, whilst modern and spacious, integrates really well into the old part of the house which was constructed in 1970. The position of the windows and glass sliding door ensures that we have good views out into the garden and that the rooms receive plenty of natural light. We found Angela to be approachable, practical, full of great ideas and had an extensive knowledge of the Canberra building scene. She was very professional and able to design an extension that was within our set budget.

We downsized from a larger home in the country to a small home in Canberra with a very limited living area. We wanted to provide a comfortable living area in winter, taking advantage of the winter sun, together with an outdoor living space. The laundry and bathroom were original (1960s) and the extension included a new deck, laundry and powder room and renovations to the bathroom and kitchen. Both the kitchen and the bathroom are now a joy to use. The outdoor living area/deck flows well to the back garden. We have been extremely happy with all aspects of the project. There is a much more spacious feel about the home and it flows well. The home has remained remarkably cool during an extreme summer season without any additional cooling required. We look forward to lower heating bills in winter as a result of the solar passive design. Prior to engaging the services of Plan It Green, our outdoor deck/entertaining area was looking tired and dated. We wanted to resolve this problem and have a deck that was more spacious, functional, aesthetically pleasing and utilised energy efficient building products. It was also important that it flowed from the existing home thus creating a seamless and incorporative feel.There were no real concerns before commencing the project aside from relocating a few established plants. The outcome from the completed project has exceeded our expectations. The new deck has enhanced greatly our outdoor living no matter what season it may be. It has contributed to our lifestyle as it offers another functional space that can be enjoyed on a daily basis. Angela Knock of Plan It Green understood completely all aspects of the brief and our collaboration with her was nothing short of perfect. Her engagement was professional and thorough, she met time frames and sourced appropriate building products and offered sound reasoning and knowledge throughout.
