My husband and I always dreamed of owning an older home in Chester County when we retired, but we wanted to make sure that we weren't going to spend the next 30+ years dealing with older home challenges. We found a beautiful stone house built in 1791, and then we found Rittenhouse Builders. From the beginning of the relationship, we felt we were dealing with someone who cared about the end result as much as we did. George Metzler has surrounded himself with a team that embodies what he is - incredibly professional and wonderful. Bonnie Bruner listened to and captured every detail I shared, ad nauseam. She encouraged my creativity and never judged - just subtly and kindly guided me when I went in the wrong direction. Laura Ressler is incredibly organized and straight-forward, she kept us on track and (almost) on budget. Budget only became an issue when I talked with George because we had a problem with 'What if we did this?' and 'What do you think of this?' My husband finally banned me from talking to George! Our project foreman, Gary Mohler, made every quirky vision we had reality. He is so patient and talented, and when he "noodles" over a problem or challenge, you know something fabulous will be the final result. I apologize for not mentioning the rest of the team individually, everyone made our dream come true! I think if we only had space in our review for 2 words they would be Trust and Excellence. Pros with a personality. After hearing much 'buzz' from our architect and other very satisfied customers, we asked Rittenhouse Builders to help us with our whole house renovation. And we were over-the-moon thrilled with the results. Not only was their craftsmanship top-notch, but the relationship throughout the process was respectful and 'fun'. I loved showing up on the job site and seeing the happy faces working their skilled trades and I was in awe of their expertise. I feel like the care and personality of Rittenhouse Builders and the tradesmen are obvious and shine brightly throughout our home.

We cannot say enough great things about Rittenhouse Builders! We engaged Rittenhouse to complete a very large project on our 1940 home in Bryn Mawr. Our plans included, amongst other things, significant interior renovations, a new roof, a large 3 story addition, new kitchen, finished basement, a new exterior deck and screened-in porch, flagstone patio, driveway, and various grading/landscaping requirements. From start to finish, Rittenhouse Builders was an absolute pleasure to work with! George Metzler presented us with very detailed and accurate pricing information, and he worked very closely with us throughout the process to ensure that all of our selections and design choices fit within our budget. George was always available to provide his honest expert opinion about the quality, craftsmanship, and overall value of every option we had during the project. George has built a fantastic team at Rittenhouse, we were highly impressed with every interaction along the way. From Laura and Erin's administrative and pricing support, to Bonnie's interior finishing and sourcing knowledge, to Ivan's engineering expertise, the entire team exceeded expectations. We must give very special credit to Gary, our project manager, who expertly handled every phase of our project and coordinated the many subcontractors required to complete our home. Gary's knowledge, skill, and constant professionalism are unsurpassed and resulted in a very efficiently executed project. We highly recommend Rittenhouse Builders for any home construction or renovation work. Based on our experience, we would particularly highlight Rittenhouse's expertise with historic renovation and solving the challenges of integrating old and new construction. The most amazing group of people to work with. We did a large addition that took several months to complete. That length of time might sound dreadful but they made it easy. They made a detailed schedule and stuck to it. They always made sure we knew when and what was happening next. They kept an organized work site and cleaned up at the end of every day. We are very, very happy with the outcome. This is our third time working with Rittenhouse. Their integrity, and attention to detail has not wavered. Best of all, they always come to work cheerful and energetic.

After purchasing a 100 + year old stone carriage house in the estate section of Villanova, Pennsylvania, we hired George Metzler of Rittenhouse Builders and Linda Phillips Designs to remodel and design an overhaul of the interior, including a new kitchen, 2 bathrooms, new woodwork and architectural details throughout. George and Linda collaborated and took our vague vision for the house and turned it into a reality that is even better than we could have ever imagined. Rittenhouse Builders and LPD took the time to really understand us and designed the unique spaces to accommodate the way we live our lives as empty nesters. Aside from rebuilding an amazing home for us, George provided a team who worked cohesively throughout the project and maintained a positive attitude while finding a way to work through any challenge. A renovation like ours was never short on challenges! The project was handled by Gary Mohler who oversaw every detail to make sure the project was done correctly and on time and who we could always turn to for guidance and support when something didn't go as planned. Rittenhouse has an amazing back office team who provide software which made it easy to follow the budget, billing, change orders, scheduling and material selection. All handled by the incredible team of Laura Ressler and Bonnie Bruner. Most importantly, Rittenhouse Builders treat your home as if it was their own. They worry about the details, remain engaged till the bitter end and keep coming back for even the smallest of “punch lists”. They deliver a finished product which will exceed your expectations.

How many people can finish a total house reno and wish they had a new project to start? That is how I feel, Rittenhouse builders has been a pleasure to work with, every single one one of their employees was professional and respectful of us and our home. There is nothing they can not do, as a matter of fact, they welcome the challenge. They take pride in their work and accept nothing less than perfection from themselves. I highly recommend Rittenhouse who took over our new home build mid-stream. Their team of professional staff assisted throughout our project. From assessing the project, to recommending sources for selections, to completing the finished work, their team worked seamlessly to ensure we were getting the higher end look we desired for our "forever" home. Whether it is a new home, a significant remodel / addition, or restoration, I am convinced Rittenhouse can do it all and do it well.

We were so happy with our selection of Rittenhouse Builders to build our addition. Here's why: Their estimate was very accurate and well thought out. They were also able to stay on budget - and actually we came in a little under budget on some parts of the project. They did what they said they would do when they said they would do it - we were never left wondering where everyone was or when a particular phase would be completed. The level of craftmanship of the subcontractors was very high - quality work done at every step of the way. We never had to ask for something to be corrected. They were also all really nice people! We had an excellent Project Manager - knowledgeable, personable, highly experienced, made sure all work done on schedule, made sure work was of high quality. They use a great computer program that helps you track cost, changes, state of finish of the project (we lived on site, but if you don't, you can see pictures of what work was done each day) and other details. Really helpful tool! Our end result, an addition to our house, is highly satisfactory. We LOVE it, and can't think of anything we would do differently, thanks to the advise of Rittenhouse Builders and our architect (who, by the way, was very enthusiastic when I mentioned Rittenhouse as being on our list of possible contractors).

Rittenhouse Builders did a great job of building an addition to our home, re-configuring and updating our kitchen / family room, installing a new roof and siding, and freshening up the interior finishes to make make it all flow together. George Metzler and the Rittenhouse staff assisted us in defining a project scope which met all of our requirements within our budget, and they worked with our bank on a construction loan to finance the project. The staff also helped us finalize the design by making recommendations on everything from kitchen cabinets, appliances, and flooring alternatives to siding and paint color schemes. The construction manager for our project kept the project moving on schedule, informed us of issues and helped us resolve them before they became problems, and worked great with their subcontractors. We were very happy with the the performance of all of the Rittenhouse subcontractors, and the final product they produced. We would definitely hire the Rittenhouse team again!

Over the years I have had the opportunity to build homes as my career has moved my family and I around the country. Each time I have gone thru the process of building, working with contractors, making selections, the agony of delays and importantly had to sift thru ambiguous and unplanned expenses, I have walked away saying, never again!!! However...not this time. Working with Rittenhouse Builders has been a tremendous pleasure because George and his team are highly capable professionals, supportive, communicative and fair. If an error is made, they address it. If there is a misunderstanding, they work to resolve it, and most importantly, the quality of their work is superb. Rittenhouse Builders was great to work with from start to finish they brought their professionalism, great ideas and solutions to the project. Had we not used them we, I am sure, would not have gotten the results we were looking for. In particular, both George and Matt were very good at solving old house (1865) problems/challenges.
