We used SG Home Builders for our 1st floor renovation and we’re extremely impressed. The SG Home Builders team was thorough, transparent, and very knowledgeable. Even the subcontractors (plumbers, electricians, etc) would remark that they love working with the SG team, that says a lot! We are enjoying our updated home and will definitely return to SG for future remodeling needs.

SG Home Builders was fast and detailed when we needed a estimate for a home we were considering buying that needed a great deal of work. Ryan's knowledge and understanding of what we were trying to do were instrumental in helping us come up with an offer price. While we did not end up buying that house we would not hesitate to use him when we do get the right home under contract. I give them my full recommendation.

We hired SG Home Builders to remodel our basement after a friend referred them to us. SG is the third contractor we've used for our house and it was a great experience all around. Ryan and Greg were very easy to work with and were open to using vendors I requested. The work space was clean at the end of every day, the sub-contractors were all very courteous, and I felt comfortable leaving the house when they were here. Greg checked in every day and was very responsive when I had questions. The project finished on time and on budget and we are very happy with the final result. We are in the process of quoting another project with them right now and I would absolutely recommend them to others!

After living in our Logan Square home for over a decade, we decided to give our 100-year old home a new lease on life. We began researching the process to de-convert our 2-flat brick to a single-family home. We connected with a multitude of resources and professional contacts to help us find the right builder. With such a large project and transformation to our home (dear to our family), we needed a special builder. The builder must possess years of experience, excellent contacts and the willingness to take the time to offer special attention to our questions and/or concerns on such a new endeavor—a total home makeover. We were looking for a full gut-rehab on the entire home: 2nd floor, 1st floor (duplexed down), excavation and lowering the basement floor, roofing and masonry work. We met builders at their (in progress- and completed-) renovation projects; interviewed and conducted reference checks. In fact, we already started the process with an architect. After a long vetting process to find a builder, it was very clear that the SG Homebuilders team: Ryan, Pat and Max could handle the project and take it to the finish line. We were thrilled to have such a dynamic team working on our home. Pat has the ability to see the whole picture and offer an objective view of the renovation process. We are so grateful for Pat’s honesty and ability to help us identify potential delays as a result to lack of communication—which could have been costly. Communication is key. If all players cannot connect, it may create interruptions and mega delays to the project. SG Homebuilders was willing to work with our architect, but offered us alternatives and solutions to keep the grand project moving forward. With an adjustment to the team, we were able to have new architectural drawings, permits, contacts to vendors, lender closing and a demolition date … all in 90 days! Yes—SG Homebuilders means business! Their responsiveness is immediate, and all teammates respond with assistance. Ryan is very organized and detail-oriented. We appreciate how thorough and patient he is with homeowners like us. We did not hire a designer, so a lot of the small details are up to us. It can be a lot, but Ryan always made us feel comfortable that this is the norm. Our lender recently informed us that Ryan makes the process painless. He always has the right documents, asks the right questions and has all parties in the loop with status and expectations. The lender works with many builders/contractors—they consider Ryan to be one of the best to work with. Pat is very straight forward and is our guiding light to solutions … solutions … solutions. We ask a question and he will offer us: contact(s), introduce us to resources, provide renovation samples/ideas, etc. Not having a full understanding of the construction process can make the untrained person feel uncomfortable and filled with anxiety. Yet, Pat is the teammate who goes the extra mile to help us understand the construction process in general terms. Our Project Manager, Max, is always working hard onsite to bring the best end-product within the deadlines. His ability to coordinate, juggle many moving parts and staggering the contractors is quite a feat. SG Homebuilders uses a web-portal to keep us abreast of day-to-day reports, budget, and the sequence of events. Max is very detailed on the construction portal and uploads exciting images of the progress. He is flexible to hear our preferences, while simultaneously offering alternatives to help tweak our ideas to maximize our budget ... very helpful! Max works tirelessly to assure that we are satisfied with the end result. He is a perfectionist and a Project Manager you need on your team to oversee such an overwhelming project. We are mid-way through the process and are very pleased! The team voluntarily suggested to meet at the home to do a bi-weekly walk-through to make sure we are comfortable with the renovation process, and to answer any questions we may have onsite. SG Homebuilders team is organized, detail-oriented, customer-satisfaction driven and hard-working to supersede expectations to deliver our custom home. Thank you, Ryan, Pat and Max! We purchased a house built/renovated by SG Home Builders in Lincoln Square summer 2017. After a miserable experience with a prior house that ended up falling through, we met Pat at an open house on one of their properties. I was immediately impressed with his knowledge, expertise, and frankly concern for our situation. This never waivered throughout the entire home buying process. They were wonderful to work with, and now, post purchase, Max and the team have been fantastic in follow up and punch list items. I feel so comforted by the support and work that is done by them on this house. I would recommend them with zero hesitation, and if we moved again I would seek out their properties!

I think it’s almost assumed that when you buy any house and live in for a while, that you will quickly discover the “quirks” and small details that were not thought out well in the design phase or that you would change if you could do it all over again.
