With 25 years of experience on three continents, we specialize in residential estates, equestrian facilities, site planning and urban design. We were looking for a landscape architect who could provide a design that would complement our property while also meeting our design aesthetic and functional needs. Wow! Warren’s design exceeded our expectations, not only on the page, but in fully realized execution. My wife and I bought a home in Marin Country Club in 2002, one with a large and flat lot. The part of the property not occupied by the house was late-1950s concrete and lawn, and we soon removed most of the concrete and redid the rest. We endured the makeover for ten years, but were not happy with it. We learned of Warren Simmonds through word of mouth, and of course his great landscape work. Warren listened. Warren was patient, infinitely patient. In time, in much patient time from Warren, we went with his proposal, and we have never been happier with an architect. He also introduced us to several landscape contractors, we went with one, and he and Warren worked like hand in glove. We have had many pleasant experiences with architects before (never mind the less-than-pleasant ones) but never more than with Warren. And the landscape Warren and the contractor produced could not make us happier. On budget, on time, and far more beautiful than we could envision from two-dimensional drawings.

We hired Simmonds & Associates in the spring 2017 for a complete backyard remodel on a hillside. They were able to transpose our ideas into concrete plans and come up with several appealing designs. They handled everything from the design concept to execution. We were very happy with the landscape contractor who executed on the plans, which was selected by Simmonds & Associates. Overall, we love our new, expansive backyard. Well worth it!

Simmonds & Associates create landscapes that are beautiful, functional, and well suited for each property. I have worked with them for the last 7 years on a homeowners' association project and am dazzled by the colorful and unique combinations of plants, and their thoughtful placement in the landscape. This particular client wanted color and the creation of pollinator habitat. It is so rewarding to walk through their grounds, and see the hummingbirds and other bird species, honey bees, butterflies, and all manner of pollinators thriving, not to mention the joy this brings to the residents. As a landscape manager, I appreciate the professionalism that Simmonds & Associates brings to each client and in each vendor relationship. The result: brilliant design, thriving landscapes, and great team work!

First class organization. Took a concept to greatly enhance our usable space, add a pool, landscaping, BBQ, etc etc etc and made it happen. Handled permitting issues, used the space brilliantly, and made great plant choices after hearing our preferences. Recommended .

Warren and Alex designed our project and did a wonderful job. It was a large, complex landscape project that included many different planting areas, microclimates, retaining walls, and a living wall. They were imaginative and professional throughout. We highly recommend them.

I used Simmonds and Associates for a major landscape remodel at my home in San Mateo. Warren and his staff were easy to work with and very responsive to our questions. After working through many possible options for our landscaping Warren and his staff developed a plan that we were happy with. They also helped us find a landscaping contractor and supervised the installation work. Our garden has had 2 years to grow in and looks fantastic. We get many compliments from our neighbors and we are very happy with the design. Highly recommended.

I've had the pleasure of working with Simmonds and Associates for the past nine months restoring the landscape of a classic Gwathmey Siegel Residence in Belvedere, California. Our project is complex involving six levels of steep gradient, compact spaces, and a mass of very tall walls and windows. It's been an easy process - they understood exactly what we needed, drawings were produced quickly, and their fees were extremely reasonable. They were also efficient with our time, quick to follow up and thorough with their research. I highly recommend their office and hope I have an opportunity to work with them again on another project.

Warren Simmonds was recommended to me by my structural engineer who was working on an extensive retaining wall project in my backyard. When it came time to put the yard back together, Warren gave me a completely fresh look that I love, and on which I get absolutely tons of compliments. The space looks larger and now maximizes the great views, plus it is much more water efficient now. Warren is that rare professional who combines practicality (i.e., knows his materials and how to get a "look" while staying on budget), with creativity (coming up with solutions to problem areas, and adding fresh, great design).
