My yard makes me so happy, see and his team were able to Pull back the layers of my large yard, meaning they brought us up the hill and should us the beautiful view potential. Every part of our new landscape brings me joy, Steves idea of moving our existing shed/office. is a game changer, the lighting makes it able for us to use the property with out worries at light. The fantastic fire pit is so lovely and warm, I think we can see the firework in Moraga.

DO NOT HIRE. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. We had them redo our front/back lawns and install a drip system. - We signed a contract with Steve on July 2nd 2021 and they said they would start in mid-August , but he started in November without following up with us on the delay. We were flexible because of the pandemic, no big deal. - He didn't actively manage the project or double check the subs work, he put the responsibility on us to create a punch list and communicate what needed to be completed or fixed. - He pressured us repeatedly for final payment before the project was completed. When I told him I would pay him when the job was completed, per the contract, he got angry and hung up the phone on me. - He consistently didn't show up to agreed to meetings and ignored my emails for months, until I gave up and decided to finish the work ourselves. - He committed to warrantying his work for one year but, again, won't respond to my email requests to 1.) fix a water leak 2.) provide diagram of the drip system they installed and 3.) replace dead plants If you decide to take a chance and hire him anyway, be sure to carefully scrub through your contract and be sure all his verbal commitments are in writing. Hopefully you can hold him accountable when he inevitably doesn't follow through.

Just want to give a shoutout to Garden Lights Lanscaping.I am with a local retailor of Premium/Luxury components for outdoor kitchens, BBQ islands and other landscaping projects. I frequently get calls from folks looking for a recommendations or referral of a contractor to help them with their backyard project. and don't know where to start. I have to be very selective when giving out a name or refering a contractor. If things go south or the client has s a bad experience that reflects back on us. We retained Steve Lambert of Garden Lights in Orinda Ca to design and install a lighting system for our property . We wanted a system that combined security and safety and gave us maximum flexibility to adjust the times the lights were on as well as their intensity . We also wanted to be able to control the system remotely. Finally we wanted the entire system to have a natural ambiance. Steve achieved these objectives and at a competitive price. We love Garden Lights!! Steve has done multiple projects for us over the last 10 years, starting with the front yard in 2014 and continuing with the back yard in 2018. Now he is building us a hot tub pad for a new hot tub. Steve & his crew are excellent, professional, and really good humans to boot. Steve's hardscape crew is second to none. All the hardscape he installed still looks fabulous after 10 years. My teenagers love the firepit, and we have used our patio constantly, especially now during the pandemic. His plant design sense is excellent, and two years later, as our back yard is maturing and filling in, it looks even more lovely. Yes, a few plants died (which he replaced) or had to be moved because we didn't end up liking them where they were. But really, that is peanuts. To have a good relationship with a contractor after multiple jobs is rare, and I am grateful all the time for our fabulous landscaping.

Garden Lights did an outstanding job on our backyard renovation project. They have a deep understanding on the trees, flowers and vegetables that harvest well in this area, they are creative and accommodated all change orders as these projects are never perfect from the beginning. We have been relying on Garden Lights Landscape for our initial landscaping in 2009 and then for “refresh” jobs every year and we have been totally satisfied. The landscape team is professional and hard working. We are especially pleased with the rock walls they built and the lighting in the front and back yards. We highly recommend them. Garden Lights landscaped both our front yard 10+ years ago and our back yard 5 years ago with major retain walls that replaced old wooden retaining walls that were sagging. In addition he refurbished and remodeled our pool which had leaks. Extensive new planting was put in throughout, and we are very pleased with how it has matured; each season provides a variety of color and texture to our landscaping

Steve did a full remodel of our back and front yard, including pool, retaining walls, gardens, patio, walkways, etc. The finished product was absolutely beautiful and we made friends with him and his wife along the journey. We had a very bad experience. One of the worst actually. We're currently in the process of disputing all charges. We never received the designs we asked for. We feel misled and over 3 months were lost.

Really easy process from design to project completion. The design was thoughtful and they were flexible to work within our budget. The crew was professional and tidy throughout. As with all projects there was some follow up, but they were responsive to complete everything.

We are extremely happy with the work done by Steve and his crew on our landscaping project. We wanted a complete redo, and we got one! The results are fantastic. We had a general idea as to what we wanted with the big items being the removal of a backyard spa and deck, new fencing, replacing a red brick retaining wall with a natural rock wall as well as new irrigation, better drainage, removal of old and tired trees & shrubs, replacing the lawn and, of course, many new trees, plants and shrubs. What started with a minor BBQ project ended up with a full redo of two major gardens. As an engineer, in my work I pay close attention to detail, budget, schedule and work ethic. Of course this carries over when others assist me on projects. The folks at Garden Lights performed design services, recommended changes to my existing gardens, constructed a waterfall and fire pit and of course, they've added special lighting to accentuate their wonderful results. Lastly, I noted that any changes during the work were fully discussed with budget and schedule agreed to prior to performing the work. Overall, EXCELLENT!

We first used Garden Lights to totally redo our backyard landscaping including design (awesome), trees, fences, hardscape, artificial lawn (great looking), planting and lighting. We were so pleased that the following year (2017) we asked them to do the same for the front yard including design and installation of a water feature which always attracts favorable comments. All of this was done while working within the established budget and timeline (we had allowed for unavoidable delays caused by uncertain weather - always a good idea).

We are very pleased with the work product provided by Steve Lambert and his Garden Lights team. From the design process which was thoughtful, creative and professional to its actual execution and completion, every detail was considered and done, and within budget. The quality of the materials was top of the line, and the positioning of the varied plants, simply beautiful. We are delighted with the outcome, and of course our water bill, which is substantially reduced due to a very efficient drip system. The pleasure of having such a beautiful front and back garden is further enhanced by the many compliments we receive almost daily.

Steve Lambert and his team have collaborated with us on multiple projects in the Lamorinda area. Like us, their office is local and they do a great job when working with our clients to make the most of their outdoor space.

Steve and his crew revamped our lights, ponds, vegetation, and irrigation. Initially we thought everything was great. Then we had trouble getting maintenance 3 times a year as agreed upon. Then we had trouble with overgrowth and dying plants. Our watering bill was always higher than we expected. Parts of our yard looked like a jungle. Finally we had to hire a 2-3 person landscaping maintenance service on a weekly basis for a couple of months to revamp our vegetation and irrigation which were clearly inadequate. We found leaks in some areas and no water in other areas. The biggest weaknesses were attention to detail and design, communication, and follow-up.

Steve and his crew are fantastic. We used them to completely redo our backyard. They transformed a "nice enough" space into an amazing retreat. Everyone - friends and service people - gush over how beautiful it is. We have a entertaining space with custom stamped concrete patio, trek deck with overhang trellis, custom bbq/bar unit, all surrounded by planting beds and beautiful fountain. Our property is large, and Steve designed a beautiful retaining wall that runs the length of the hillside, with two separate signature step areas leading up into it. Steve has a great design sense and is very knowledgeable about plants. He listened to our ideas and concerns and made suggestions based on this. The lighting he added is amazing, and includes torches that have LED bulbs in them but also can be used as tiki torches for when we have large parties. The whole design is simply beautiful. Steve worked with our budget, as we implemented this in two stages, separated by three years! His crew foreman, Rich, was great as well. Steve was very detail-focused, and every time he visited he was actively fine-tuning things, i.e. pruning plants, adjusting lights, etc. He truly cares about the end result and wants you to be happy. We have continued to rely on him when small problems, issues or questions arise, and he is always responsive.

I called Gardenlight to come look at my project in Lafayette. They said they would send me a quote in a week and they never did. I called them to follow up and they still didn't give me a proposal. If they are not interested, they should just tell me instead of stringing me along. They are a husband and wife team. Seem disorganized.

7 years ago we were in desperate need for a landscape upgrade so we called Garden Lights Landscape to create new garden beds for us. We had a clear idea of what they should look like and had high expectations. Steve put his creative touch to work and our expectations were far exceeded! Two years later, we added a garage on the side of our yard and called Steve to design the landscape to complement the area. This time we didn't give him any direction and he did an absolutely stellar job. I could hardly go get the mail without a neighbor complimenting our yard! Last year we build a vacation home and turned all landscape design and execution over to Steve. The result: our yard is magical. Each season hold new surprises in color and texture. In 2014 I approached Steve for a bid for our front yard project. I had seen Steve's work around town and was impressed. Our front yard was ready for a complete overhaul. I already had a design from a landscape architect and needed a contractor to execute the plan. A week later Steve came back with our plans and told us he really liked it, but would also recommend a few changes. Every recommendation he had was spot on. We decided to hire him. Garden Lights completed the project on time and close to budget. His workers were professional, friendly, and excellent tradesmen. We are so pleased with the work and receive compliments constantly. When we are ready to do our backyard we will call Steve! I have nothing but the highest regard for Garden Lights and can recommend him without reservation.

We had garden lights update our landscaping and we are very happy with the results. It was a pleasure working with Steve and his team. We did a large synthetic lawn, which transformed our back yard from "nice" to a very functional, yet beautiful and very natural looking space. Steve did a great job blending the lawn to the existing landscaping and the wilderness beyond. Steve was also very creative in coming up with a nice design for our side patio with river rocks and concrete slabs. We are very happy with the design and the cosmetics of the work, but also so far very satisfied with the functional aspects, in terms of drainage, efficient upgrade of the existing irrigation, lighting, drought conscious planting etc. Also, work was completed in a timely fashion.

Steve and his team did a bang up job. People think our artificial sod is real. We are foodies and are in love with our grill/bar area. The patio is an extension of our house - better then any room addition I could imagine. We are in our yard all the time now before we never used it.
