Ted Hobson Designer At Allweather Landscape

Ted was a pleasure to work with. He listened to us with regard to budget and design objectives and developed a design and work plan accordingly. He oversaw the performance of the work and liaised with us on a timely basis throughout. When modifications were required as the work progressed he was responsive to our requests. The final work product has certainly met our expectations and has been complemented upon by many. We are most pleased.

Ted was involved and consulted throughout the project. He listened and responded to questions and requests. Ted made himself availble on a number of occasions while the project was being done. Finishing touches were attended to with professionalism. Finished product is what was expected!

All Weather Landscaping did an outstanding job in reconstructing an existing retaining wall at the front of our house that had been damaged through prior winters’ frost heave. The crew they assigned to our project worked diligently and were very skillful in stone-cutting. We couldn’t be more pleased with the result. Ted Hobson is a very reliable, knowledgable and friendly landscape designer. We were pleased to work with someone who understood our vision and was able to make it a reality within our budget. There were a few hiccups along the way but Ted dealt with everything in a kind and professional manner. We would work with Ted again in the future.

Ted replaced our slab concrete backyard patio and side walkway with pavers. We are thrilled with the results. Ted was easily accessible and responsive. We discussed our requirements with him and he gave us ideas and options. The sketches/plans were included in the project cost. The costs were reasonable and the project was completed as estimated.

We had Ted and his team completely re-do our front yard: ripping out the old lawn, putting in stone steps and a pathway, a new set of front stairs, planting beds with groundcovers and hedges. Ted was professional and pleasant to work with, and the project turned out amazing! He was helpful in leading us to stonework choices that would stay in our budget, and handled the tree permits. We get so many compliments! I would definitely work with Ted again. I will add pictures in the spring when all this snow is gone!

When embarking on our landscape project we decided to spend a little more time upfront finding the right landscaper that best fit for our needs. Our goal was to find a company that was local to Toronto East/Beaches and well-balanced between design and completing the work. We found some companies were design only and others were more focused on executing a plan. After putting the word out, a friend recommended Ted and Hobson Landscapes. We never looked back and are very pleased with Ted and his team’s creative ideas, many that we would have never come up with on our own. We appreciated their consultative approach and flexibility that allowed up to stay within our budget. We have recommended Ted to a number of our friends and neighbours and would not hesitate to do so in the future!

Ted and his team did an excellent job building us a beautiful wood deck and installing a stone patio. Ted designed the layout for us and helped us to choose the right products. We use the deck and patio daily now, and love it!

We recently hired Ted for the second time. Our first experience with Hobson Landscapes was in 2008 when we hired Ted to landscape our backyard. Our experience then was very positive and the work has held up well. So when we decided to landscape our front yard, we called Ted again and once again, we are thrilled with the result. Ted designed a new porch, garden and stone work and worked closely in the implementation, including finding a workaround when we changed our minds about one element part way through. His crew is also very talented and professional. Ted and his team did a fantastic job on our front and backyards. Our property was a little tricky as water mitigation was very important. Not only did Hobson design our project to address the issue but they also made our yard beautiful. The work was of excellent quality and completed on schedule. We would certainly recommend them for any landscape project.

Great experience working with Ted Hobson and his team of qualified professionals at Hobson Landscapes. We couldn't have been more happy with both the quality of the finished product and the process. We were recommended by our neighbour who had here backyard completely redone from deck and fence to stonework and planting. Hobson Landscapes did two jobs for us, one a beautiful new cedar deck off of our son's bedroom in addition to a redo of our walkway and steps leading up to our front door. Replacing our old concrete steps and walkway with real natural stone has added tremendously to our house's curb appeal. We were getting compliments from passers by when the job was only half complete. We can't wait to get some new plants in there as soon as the weather improves. Lastly, Ted and team were great in doing the job when they said they would. It was an added benefit to have some quick computer drawings for us to review so we were all on the same page as to exact look we were going for. Highly recommend...wouldn't hesitate to use again.

We hired Hobson Landscapes to put in a retaining wall and walkway in our front yard and some garden beds and hardscaping in our backyard. Ted was helpful in reviewing the possibilities and the pros and cons of materials to use. He had some suggestions and was responsive to changes. His team were efficient and very respectful of the neighbours. We are happy with the results.

Hired Hobson Landscapes based on great review from a coworker, Ted's competitive and reasonable quote, as well as his obvious eagerness to gain our business (quick responses to all questions, willing to negotiate to save us some money, great customer service ethic, etc.). After fine-tuning the initial design (including enhancements that Ted suggested himself) work was completed on time and on budget. Ted and the small crew went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. This even included hosing off neighbour's cars when they became dusty due to the job! I was impressed to see Ted outside many days consulting with the crew and even operating the equipment himself (see picture --yes that's Ted in the mini backhoe). The crew was one of the happiest I've seen and that made me feel even better about hiring Ted's company. They were also used to working in small downtown spaces and had all the right equipment. Have recommended Hobson Landscapes to others and will do so again. Neighbours have lots of positive things to say. Nice clean design, integrated with house, not over the top -- very classy, but didn't break the bank. Work included refacing the old concrete stoop with natural stone, replacing wooden retaining wall with precast stone and natural stone coping, installing lovely small garden along the drive, residing, digging gardens, adding "ribbon" walkway up the drive to add character and arranging for new hand rails and paved driveway. Certainly helped with curb appeal for a very plain house. Took about 3 weeks. We couldn't be happier with the result.

We are on a corner property and hired Hobson Landscapes to re-do our side-yard and to create a bigger backyard space. The job was complex, as we had to deal with permits to replace the fencing as well as for tree protection. Ted Hobson did a great job designing the project with us and helping us obtain the necessary permits. The job was completed within the estimated time-frame, and we are very pleased with the results. We used Hobson Landscapes over a year ago to redo our front walkway and were so pleased with both the process and the results we used Hobson again this year for the much larger project of redesigning and redoing our front porch, entire back yard and fencing. Once again we weren't disappointed. Having fully renovated our home from top to bottom over the past 3 years we have worked with all sorts of contractors and I can say without hesitation that Ted has been the easiest and most reliable from the beginning to the end of the project and his crew is great, polite and left the worksite spotless everyday. Bonjour, I have used Hobson Landscapes twice for work on my house: the first a stone patio and the second a 75 feet retaining wall. Ted, the owner, is very professional and thorough. He worked with us to find the right design/solutions and kept us informed throughout the projects. He was transparent with the budget which helped to avoid any any surprises. I am very happy to recommend Hobson Landscapes. This is the second project that we have hired Hobson Landscapes for. The first was a complete renovation of our front yard, including rebuilding our stoop, steps, landing, retaining wall and walkways. This time, we Ted Hobson to rebuild most of the rotted portions of our back deck. Unlike other companies, he discouraged us from tearing down the whole structure, but simply replaced that which needed replacing (while at the same time making sure that there were no other issues with the deck that we would have to deal with in a year or two). He then also rebuilt a previously (by another contractor) badly built set of slab limestone steps, lifted and relaid patio flagstones that had shifted over time, extended our existing patio and built a new walkway to our back gate. He had creative ideas to re-use what we already had and to bring in new materials that I had not thought of before, in order to complete this project. Ted has great ideas but doesn't push if you are not keen about them. But he will keep coming up with other ideas until you are happy. The technical work done by Ted and his crew was exemplary. The crew that worked on both of our jobs, were respectful, cheerful and tidy. On a personal level, Ted is very amiable, returns calls and emails quickly, and is quick to resolve any issues that arise. I do not hesitate to recommend Hobson Landscapes. You will not be sorry if you hire this company.

design and vision were well beyond anything else we had seen. You could feel his passion when he spoke about his craft and we knew we could trust he would deliver. Like any project of this size, we had our share of hiccups, but nothing worth mentioning. The team did incredible work, kept a tidy work area and were genuinely nice people. Ted was not always onsite, but was available day or night whenever we need to go over anything. We were extremely happy with the outcome of our yard, not only would we use him again, but we have and would recommend him to anyone.
