Avid Home Theater

I hired Avid to do a Control4 installation for my home, which was already pre-wired for Control4 by the previous owner. They were fast, courteous, and answered all of my questions. When I had some connectivity issues with the system the following month, they came back out and spent another couple of hours fixing the issues. They have also been helpful in follow-up calls since the initial installation as well. I am very pleased with their level of service and would not hesitate to work with them again when I decide to upgrade.

To put it simply, I joined Houzz to write a review of Avid Home Theater. I hired them the first of last year to completely redo the system in the home we had just purchased. Micah came out and looked at everything that was there, and actually took the time to listen to what I was looking for. He let me demo some speakers in his own home that I absolutely loved, which he never would have done had he not been in tune with what I wanted from a system. Along with the speakers, he proposed a full sound system and TV that was perfect for our den, a slightly smaller system using some existing components for a guest room, and a Sonos system and speakers for our outdoor area. He also added separate Control4 systems that gave us the flexibility to add on room by room, as we needed. Scheduling went off without a hitch, and guys who did the installation were absolutely meticulous. More than a year and a half later, we love the system they installed, and are even having them come back out to do some other minor additions.

I hired AVID last year to do a rework of the distributed audio and video system in my custom home in Alamo (which I had originally installed in 2000). With the huge changes in technologies over the last ten years, I was concerned that we would have to basically "throw out" everything that had come before, but was pleasantly surprised when the AVID team came up with a cost effective and efficient solution to the project. Everyone with whom I have dealt with at AVID has been extremely knowledgeable, professional and a real pleasure to work with. They have met every deadline and budget parameter that I have thrown at them and even fixed some other unrelated technology issues at my house in the process without charge. They are good folks and I would not hesitate to use them again on any project of any size.

We were doing a substantial remodel to an older house and wanted someone to provide a solution that included theater TV, internet, WiFi, multiple music zones, and telephone outlets (for historical purposes :-) We chose Avid Home Theater for several reasons: their pricing was competitive; they were experienced and knowledgeable about doing preliminary work during construction and finishing up at the end of the remodel; and especially because Micah was very clear about the services they offered and the pricing. He helped us refine our goals and offered clear advice on some of the choices we had to make. Avid did a fantastic job installing our systems. It was very impressive how they were able to do a thorough, clean job on the preliminary wiring in the midst of a crazy construction site. Their finish work on the television, speakers, and other equipment was also excellent. That included building a rack, wiring many components together, and programming a system so that we can control television, Blu-ray, and music zones from one remote control (or from our phones or tablet!) During the project and after, they have been very responsive to questions and requests. I would whole-heartedly recommend Avid for jobs like ours.

best in class. I've had two others work for me, but Avid was far and away the most knowledgeable and professional. I'm usually pretty independent and search through tech offerings for what i want, but with Micah he reallly new his stuff and put together a fantastic system on budget for my new house. Even the builder's crew, which was initially reluctant about having someone on site that they didn't know, was very impressed.

My home was built in 1976 and since moving into it over 16 years ago, I have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in re-modeling and general improvements. Given all of the various trades I have worked with, the ABOSLUTE WORST experiences I've had is with numerous home theater companies. They preyed on my lack of knowledge and understanding of audio visual products, their workmanship was shoddy, their sole focus was selling me products that proved to be overly inflated from a price and quality perspective and all seemed to be masterful liars in general. All of this changed for me when I found Avid Home Theater. Micah Brown and his team of technicians have been incredible in all facets of my recently updated sound system; sales process, installation, training and follow up ALL flawless in execution. In addition, his office manager Lea has been a joy to work with, Communication, follow up and flexibility in scheduling has been " best in class" relative to any other trade I have worked with on home improvement projects. I am and will continue to be, a sterling reference for this company.

We moved to the Bay Area recently and wanted to find a local company to install a home audio system in the house we bought. I spoke with several companies, and had people come out, talk about what we could do within our budget. The people at Avid Home were by far the best. We set up for Micah to come out to the house and he really listened to what we wanted. He didn't come with a preconceived idea of what to do. We were not trying to make a home theater, this system is mainly to bring music to all our rooms. We wanted it Sonos based, and had 7 rooms set up throughout the house with ceiling or wall speakers. We had a bid within our budget, but after a few more conversations, opted to increase the budget slightly to allow for future upgrades if desired. We love it, could not be happier with the results! Micah made fantastic suggestions for everything, every detail covered, but exactly what WE wanted. The installers were terrific, very professional, and easily overcame the inevitable glitches we ran into. They were on time, kept us informed of the process, and cleaned up everyday. Highly recommend all the folks at Avid. Glad to have found them and will be going back to add more music to the addition we will be building.
