Terry Martin and his team have designed four spec homes for me over the last 14 years. Three were new construction, one was a to-the-studs remodel and expansion. All homes were high-end construction, in Woodside, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga. While I generally give Terry general direction on the design, Terry's focus on floor plan, traffic flow, room proportions and livability helped produce interiors that were both attractive, luxurious and sensible. His sense of exterior massing and appropriate architectural details made each home correct for its design intent without incurring unnecessary expense. Finally, Terry's awareness of design elements that impact structural requirements can reduce substantially reduce engineering complexity and construction costs. And the results speak for themselves; all of the homes that Terry designed for me sold quickly and have stood the test of time with designs that have continued to delight the buyers years after the purchase. In addition to Terry's aesthetic sensibilities, his organizational abilities and process knowledge are also invaluable. As a developer, I always operate on tight time frames, and Terry has never failed to deliver drawings that are thoroughly developed on time with and within budget. Nearly as important, he has great rapport with planning and building departments in communities throughout the South Bay and the Peninsula, and he has always displayed great instinct and patience when negotiating with sometimes rather difficult planners and building officials. In summary, Terry's skill as a listener, common sense approach, and ability to respond to my demands have made him a true pleasure to work with. I expect to hire Terry for my next project, and look forward to the opportunity to work with him again.

My wife and I hired Terry for a new home build in Willow Glen last year and we could not be more happy with our decision. Terry, and everyone on his team at TJM Archiects, listen very well and are amazingly talented at taking the verbal idea you present and converting onto paper and plans and it always comes out even more beautiful than you had initially envisioned. One thing Terry does exceptionally well, is he offers a calming voice backed with his incredible experience and talents in architecture and makes the home design experience fun rather than what many people normally consider to be a stressful process. Terry is also up front on his costs and he is very affordable, especially when you consider the high quality job he and his team do. Along with his natural artistic talents, he knows the city codes and permitting processes better than any architect I initially interviewed, and this resulted in all of our permits being approved right on time. His quality work allowed our Contractor to meet a very fast building time frame estimate of 6 Months. I highly recommend Terry for any home build in the Silicon Valley.

We selected Terry Martin several years ago to transform our modest hut into a dream home. Terry patiently and professionally worked with us through a myriad of delays on our end until we were able to actually start building. Terry's positive relationship with the local planning and permitting deparments,as well as his in-depth knowledge of ever-changing building requirements made what could have been a torturous process very smooth. Terry was also able to recommend capable,reliable, reasonably priced contractors,cabinet makers and other "subs" all of whom are doing an amazing job for us (and we did check out others as well,but Terry's turned out to be superior). TMA'S design work is incredible!We've finally begun construction, and are constantly being complimented both by neighbors and passer-by on how great it looks . I'm thinking of charging for viewings lol! Terry is a joy to work with-his sense of humor makes a stressful process easy.Last,Terry donates his considerable expertise to help others during tough times,such as lending his skills to assist victims of the earthquake up in Napa.His staff and interns are fabulous too!I'll post photos when we're done.

I am a residential green building contractor who has been working in the home remodeling and new home construction area for over a decade. When i started my company, i used to offer design services for my clients because they wanted to save money on the design of their projects. I used to think this was a good idea until i started comparing the designs of good architects, like Terry, with the designs of designers like...myself. I realized that architiects just produce much better designs. Space is used more effectively. The designs are much more refined and have balanced, detailed composition which make a house a HOME. We have all walked into a house that is just, a house. And then we have walked into homes that just speak to us. You can instantly imagine yourself living in this home, even if someone else is already there. Terry's designs are magical. They have character and a sense of place. Every client of his that I have worked with has loved the designs and loved the attention to detail and thought that went into every aspect of the home. You can instantly tell when a home is designed by an architect like Terry because, even from the street, it speaks "refinement". Personally, I have know Terry and Brad for the better part of a decade and, while just being really nice guys, they really advocate for their clients. They take pride in their work and in doing their job better than anybody else. Their designs are detailed and balanced and their clients are happy and excited by designs. The best thing is that the final products, guided through construction by Terry and Brad, always turn out to be even better than what the clients thought they were going to be.
