“Intoto Newcastle led by proprietor John McNeil is "Simply the Best!" After visiting five Kitchen showrooms and obtaining plans and quotes from four over a two year period we remained unconvinced by the designs offered until we visited John's showroom in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne. John clearly had flair that extra ingredient we needed and we invited him to our home for an initial review. When we saw his ideas and plans we knew we had found the right man for the job. No other designer had come up with a different design or exhibited the eye for colour or confidence that was apparent with John. The kitchen fitting was done by a great group of tradesmen and we were particularly impressed by Lee the kitchen fitter. Everything was organised by John with precision including the decorating. At first we were not sure that the colour of the walls we had agreed was right but once again John was correct and the colour was perfect blending with the units, new radiators and window blinds which John also helped us choose. We were so impressed that we also asked John to redesign the dining room which is off the kitchen. He did this in a way that ensures the two rooms are in perfect harmony, flowing together as one. “When we decided to have a bathroom refit towards the end of 2017, we did our research as to the choice of company both online and by visiting showrooms. In the end we chose Ivan Simpson Bathrooms & Kitchens in Pity Me, Durham. This is about 50 miles from where we live, but once we had made our first visit to the showroom and spoken to David Burns, we knew we would look no further. David’s vast experience and knowledge guided us through the whole process: nothing was ever rushed or pressurised. We made at least 3 trips to the showroom to look at plans, decide on furnishings, without ever feeling we were taking too long – so many discussions on the right size of shower head – and David was with us all the way! The quality of the plans, the level of detail, the line by line itemised invoices all increased our satisfaction with the choice of Ivan Simpson, and this is even before the job was even started. We were given samples of tiles to bring home, to make sure we were totally happy with them, as David told us they would look better in situ rather than in their showroom (he was right again!). So a start date was agreed and kept to, and today the lads have finished the job and we are delighted with the end result. It is stunning and has brought our 15-year old bathroom up-to-date. David explained that when the team arrived, they would spend the first full morning covering carpets, floor tiles and woodwork, and this they did. Then of course, there’s the “parachute doors”, which covered other rooms, but allowed access into the rooms – they were wonderful. It’s a dusty job – it has to be, but I can honestly say that it was kept to a minimum by the preparatory work done, and the consideration of the lads. The team themselves were great and true professionals in their trades: Allan, Ian, Malcolm, Simon, Davey and John – thanks to you all for a fantastic job. They were a pleasure to deal with and easy to get along with. For first week, it was simply all the preparatory work, the “behind the scenes” stuff – but this is the level of workmanship you get from Ivan Simpson, which gives the client the confidence that everything has been done thoroughly and to the highest standard. Then, when all the tiling is finished and the furnishings in, the transformation is complete. The final hours today were spent taking up all the coverings, which had really done the job, and leaving the house clean and tidy. We simply cannot rate Ivan Simpson, David and all the team highly enough. They’re not the cheapest, but you do know exactly what you’re paying for and when you see the quality of the work, you’ll know why. Also, if the initial price is higher than you anticipated, David will work with you to look for alternatives, to come up with a cost that you are happy with. All through the job, David has kept in touch with us on an almost daily basis, telling us what would be happening next and ensuring that we were still happy with the work. We are absolutely thrilled with the job and would thoroughly recommend the company: we would certainly use them again. So all there remains for us is to go and choose a blind and some plush towels!
