As an architect and artist, my focus has always been to engage people in a shared experience, capture an authentic sense of place, and create environments that are both functional and beautiful. I view the functional fine art offered through my newest venture, Studio Vlock, as a natural evolution of that vision, one that enables me to design pieces that inspire memorable experiences and create unique environments for social gathering, quiet reflection, and visual delight. Each collection of ‘Fireballs,’ ‘ScreenPlays’ and other sculptural elements tells a story—real or imagined—that is inspired by nature and shared experience. My canvas includes sustainable materials and repurposed objects. Fireballs are re-imagined steel mooring buoys; an object that once anchored boats now serves as an anchor for communal gatherings, transforming outdoor spaces into intimate places. ScreenPlays elevate the fireplace screen from the mundane to the magical; creating an architectural focal point and conversation piece. For me, the work is a journey of discovery and a process of collaboration; an adventure in storytelling and a celebration of nature where everyday objects and spaces become extraordinary experiences. Every piece is handcrafted and custom made for you and your space. Fireballs are designed for wood burning, propane or natural gas. Studio Vlock is delighted to be represented by ÆRENA Galleries & Gardens, in Napa Valley, CA. My work will be on display and used as intended – functional fine art; at Auberge de Soliel Resort, Aerena Gallery at Ma(i)sonry, and their newest venue, RiverHouse in Napa. We can ship anywhere within the US or Internationally.

Karen Oakley of Faux Real Decorative Painting is a Faux Finisher, Surface Designer, and Decorative Painter. There is no need to rip out and replace unwanted cabinets, counter tops, vanities, floors, trim or doors. All these and more can be made to appear new, original to your period home, or completely different if you wish. For instance, instead of stripping off countless layers of paint, let woodgraining techniques unify wood trim, doors and mantles. Or rejuvenate counter tops with ultra-thin, ultra-durable concrete simulated to mimic marble, granite, wood, tile and more. You can also use faux painting to: - Harmonize furniture or select one special piece for a focal point. - Age flooring repairs with custom stains to match existing/period flooring. - Coordinate new fiberglass or polymer architectural details with existing wood or metal design elements. - Transform the look of ordinary cabinets into mahogany, cherry or birch; into a different century; or into a new “country” style, including French, Italian and Scandinavian. Only safe, water-based “green” products, manufactured by Faux Effects Inc., are used inside your home or business. These products represent the most advanced technology available for long-lasting durability. This way you can count on your high impact kitchen and bath surfaces, high-traffic floors and scuff-prone walls to resist wear and look fresh for years and years. To schedule your personal, complimentary consultation, contact Karen Oakley at 860-287-2899.
