His draft plans were meticulously detailed, visionary and inspirational, yet he was open to suggestions and modifications from us. James gave us a planting plan which involved nearly 200 new plants, made numerous recommendations and still managed to incorporate many of our existing shrubs, which was important to us. James not only has the theory in spades - he is extremely practical and knows what will work and what won't. He often made practical suggestions for the hard landscaping which ultimately made the job go a lot smoother. James did all the planting himself and he is not afraid to get his hands dirty as he also installed the water feature and laid the synthetic grass himself - it looks brilliant by the way. We were a little apprehensive about bringing in such a high-end designer, but his expert knowledge, patience and practical know-how made it the right call. We cannot wait until the spring time!
