Allison what yummy eye candy your pictures are! I love unlacquered brass but I also love aged marble, worn linen, grey hair and smile lines. I like objects that show their history and living finishes do this but it is not to everyone’s taste.

I am happy to report that I finished Lonesome Dove. I enjoyed it and can see why it is so often mentioned as a stand out book. It is really a saga, so well done. It had a lot of humor as well as sorrow and tears. It took me a few weeks to read it as it is long. I'm not sure if I'd give it 5 stars, or 4.5 but either way, I recommend it highly.

While I don't want to be hopelessly out of style, I also don't have the energy or the budget to stay up with the latest trends. So, I keep and wear what I love. I'm also one who goes up and down in size so I keep basics in a couple of sizes. If I don't do that, I'll start isolating myself when I'm unhappy with my size which starts a whole other spiral.

Luckily, my social group is not one that bases acceptability on physical shape or material possessions. Some of the group are more fashion forward and others are not.

That would really annoy me.

Fun2BeHere, I can totally relate. It’s Nicole Kidman for me. She’s the same in every movie, can’t transform into the character she plays,or so I feel. So there is a movie with a plot, script, characters and everying, and in walks Nicole Kidman, like she just wandered into a movie set.

In real life, the color looks more like oatmeal with lighter and darker neutrals in it.

I vastly prefer small movies to big ones (my favorite film of Christopher Nolan’s is Memento), so I’d only watch it in preparation for the next Oscars, if it gets many nominations- and I’m sure it will. My daughter went to middle school with Zendaya! She says she was really nice:)

We got a deal from a local theater last year that for $99 each, we could each get one ticket per day for a year. So we have extremely low standards for what we see... if it looks even tolerable, we'll see it. We have definitely gotten our money's worth this year. While we've seen our share of duds, there have been plenty of good films, and a few things pleasantly surprised us.

@jsk, the price of the TWA Hotel may not be as steep on an ordinary weekend. We were caught there on the same weekend as the FIFA World Cup Final match. Regardless of price, though, the room itself was a disappointment to me.

Yes when I checked the price once when we were considering JFK, it wasn't $1000 but it wasn't far off either. Certainly more than I'd want to pay for subpar rooms.

Monovision patient here who never had to wear glasses. My brain was accustomed to seeing that way and my opthamologist agreed that it would work for me. Prior to cataract removal i had the ”halos” around lights at nightime which was bothersome for me. I paid $1500 oop for each eye done 3 wks apart.

I haven’t had it yet, but DH had his done at about age 50 (sky blue eyes). He commented afterward how colors became vivid again, and I have heard that from others. Everything went great for him, and it will for you too!
