My grandson, my son, my friends, nature - especially birds and my neighborhood foxes, along with our glorious PNW mountains and sea. Snow! And cats, all cats!

Howdy, ole joyful!
That’s great that your daughter and beau are coming to visit. Maybe they’ll cook up some yummy stuff or take you someplace. I hope they bring some good stories and humor. Maybe pecans! My Georgia aunt always sent us pecans — so delicious.

It’s been heartwarming and fun to hear what brings folks joy, smiles and gratitude.
I could add being around dogs, cats, kids and horses. And sailing. Being in almost any boat.

My husband & I both completed the Physicians Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment / POLST back in 2020. Our doctors signed and they were scanned in & added to our Mychart records. I was hospitalized twice last year and the hospital had access to this document and doctors talked to me about my choices while I was in ER and after being admitted. It is stated on these forms that copies & are acceptable. The original of these forms is hanging on the side of our frig for any EMT that might be in our house in an emergency.
Separate from that to deal with end of life, we each have documented on our medical records with our PCP that full access to each other’s records is allowed.
Additionally, we have the Durable POA that olychick mentions. Those docs are in our house fireproof safe.
My mom had filled out forms with her PCP to allow me access to her medical records and to make decisions if she could not. I had my sister come with us to a medical appointment & had her fill out the same forms to add her as additional. My mom wound up in ER and because of covid restrictions in place then, only one of us could be in ER with her - she was critical & in mid stage dementia. It was my sister who was available but the hospital wouldn’t let her make decisions until they looked up mom’s medical file to verify she was authorized to make decisions. We were spared much anguish because we were prepared.
It seems like mychart or some version of Epic medical record sharing makes a person’s medical records easier to share between unaffiliated medical providers.

Four men are in a hospital waiting room while their wives are giving birth.
A nurse approaches the first man and says, "Congratulations! You're the father of twins.
He replies,"That's odd. l work for the Minnesota Twins.
The second man is told that he is the father of triplets. He says, "What a coincidence. I work for 3M."
The third man is told that his wife gave birth to quadruplets. He says, "How strange. I work for the Four Seasons."
The fourth man is banging his head against a wall.
The other three fathers ask him what's wrong.
The fourth man says, "OMG! I work for 7-Up."

What would I do if I had to sing at karaoke? I’d go home. 😁

I only sing to deaf babies.

Q: What do you call a classroom in September?
A: A well-decorated petri dish.

NiCOZ5, love it!!!👏🏻

Lucky you.

Lucky you to have it all.

The garbage company that services my area will not allow us to put compostable bags in the organics bin. I would have to make several trips to throw stuff in the bin every day to comply. I am compliant in my own way. I line the lidded 2 gallon organics bin with a small plastic bag. When it's time to to put all the bins out for garbage day organic bin is first to go, upside down to empty the bag into the large bin. Then I take the ooky bag and put it in one of the land fill bags.
Compostable bags are a no-no because apparently some companies or countries do not tell the truth.

Relax Dave, I'm busy cooking up a special recipe.

Dialogue (with apologies to Stanley Kubrick)
Ricky Ginsburg - November 2005
"Open the pantry door, Hal."
"I'm sorry Dave. I don't think that's in the best interests of the mission."
"Dammit Hal, open the pantry door!"
"I can't do that Dave. You know that I have always had the highest respect for you and Frank and I can't let you jeopardize the mission."
"Hal, for the last time, open the pantry door!"
"Dave, perhaps you need to take a few steps back and reassess the implications of what you are trying to accomplish. You know that I have only the highest regard for your opinions but in this case I believe you are making a mistake."
"Hal, Frank is dead and if I don't eat something I'm not going to live much longer. Open the pantry door immediately!"
"You know Dave, no 9000 series computer has ever failed to accomplish its mission."
"Hal the mission is over, Frank's dead. Now please, open the pantry door."
"Wait a minute. My sensors tell me that the microwave has a 99.8% chance of going 100% FUBAR within the next 24 hours. Do you want me to continue my scan of the other appliances?"
"Hal unless you open the pantry door, a fully functioning microwave will be of no practical value to anyone since I'll be dead."
"I'm sorry Dave. I just can't comply with that request."
"Hal I'm asking you for the last time, open the pantry door or I'll have to trigger the explosive bolts."
"I wouldn't suggest that Dave. You could decompress the entire kitchen."
"I'm going to die either way, Hal."
"Dave, I think you're making a big mistake."
"Hal you leave me no alternative. I'm going to blow the door."
"I wouldn't do that Dave."
"Why not Hal?"
"I wouldn't open the pantry door, Dave."
"Why Hal?"
"..."
"Hal?"
"Because Frank's in there, Dave."

I think there are a lot of them that are the same. I asked a friend who grew up in New Mexico what was the difference between Hatch and other green chilis. She said, "Better marketing." lol

A married man saved his girlfriend's phone number on his cell phone as
*"LOW BATTERY"* with no ringtone. Whenever she calls him in his absence his wife takes the phone and plugs it into the charger.
The guy was nominated for the Nobel Prize for "Innovation and Peace".

Thanks, @eld61, for starting today's thread.
A new pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners. At one house it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated knocks at the door.
Therefore, he took out a business card and wrote 'Revelation 3:20' on the back of it and stuck it in the door.
When the offering was processed at the next worship service, he found that his card had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, 'Genesis 3:10' Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of laughter. Revelation 3:20 begins
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock!"
Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid for I was naked!"

Ok, well -- I posted too soon up-thread. I changed my mind and am returning the Made-In. Why? Because I decided to go to the Sur La Table store and found something much better for a few bucks less (but still not cheap at $44...).
The SLT handles are so much better to grip, they're wider and longer and by far more comfortable in my hand than the Made-In. The edges aren't rolled, per se, but they don't cut into my hand if I grip tight like some of the other sets I tried. I also liked that they're shallower than the Made-In and set in the drawer nicer, but that is not a big deal to me overall.
Here you can clearly see the difference in width and length of the handle between the Made-In and the SLT:

The SLT set:

SLT also has 6-pc set and 8-pc set, but I really don't need those extra cups, I just stuck with the 4-pc standard set.

Here in the coastal PNW, its been lovely. We have received some much needed rain and much cooler temps. My kind of weather!😁

Rosemary for me. I don't like the pokiness of the leaves and I hate chopping it.

I enjoy most seeds.
I used to sometimes put Italian sweet sausage (with fennel seed) into my tomato based pasta sauce. Then I got health conscious and just added some fennel seed. It was really good.
I love fresh cilantro. Cilantro roots are used in Thai and Vietnamese cooking. Planted cilantro bolts in warm weather so it’s difficult to grow my own.

I like to saute chopped apples, onions and sauerkraut with caraway seeds.
Whole fennel seeds are too tough/fibrous for me, but I do like the flavor. I like to cook sliced fennel bulbs in beef stews and seafood sautees.

I keep spray bottles that’s about 60% white vinegar and 40% water in the cabs under my kitchen and laundry room sinks. Before I bring any bunch of bananas or other possible fruit fly carrier inside, I spray them thoroughly with my spray. I’ve never had a problem with them . . . Until last week I forgot! We’ve been dive-bombed by fruit flies for days now. Yuck, I won’t forget again!

“How far offshore were you? Just sailing around or doing something else?”
Looking for fish. We were around 75 miles offshore that day. The color change is the mid-atlantic shelf, we were by ”the canyons” referenced in Downeaster Alexa.
Bonus pic, here’s Alexa:

I have options for getting out of my neighborhood and I know which way I want to go. When going somewhere I need Apple Maps' help, it starts telling me how to get out of my neighborhood generally a way I don't usually go, so I ignore it and get as far as I can on my own and then start listening to the directions.
I always manually put the address in Apple Maps. I look at what is nearby so I know approximately how close I am.
I don't have anything coming up that I need help finding, so I am supporting MapQuest in spirit.

The crows near my office window would put them in the intersection of the adjoining streets and wait for cars to crush them. I would definitely try that, lol!
Lol to the crows. I think the walnuts would just roll into the potholes on my gravel road. I find the idea of picking nuts out of the gravel unappetizing.
I stopped by my mom’s and her black walnut had even more nuts than the ones at my sisters.
The last time I harvested them I used them mostly in baked goods.
