The adults have all been to Pike Place Market at some point. While I think it is interesting, I don’t think it would hold the attention of the kiddos.
How recently did your guys go to Boeing? Did they go to the Everett factory?
We might split up. It might be me going to Chihuly and everyone else going to Boeing. I’m as crazy about Chihuly as DGS is about airplanes!
My little airplane nut. He and I flew to Las Vegas just so he could visit this airplane model store.

There is a lovely new waterfront park that connects Pike Place Market to the water with lots of gardens and public art. Grab some fresh pasta at Pasta Casalinga. The ferry to Bainbridge is nice especially is it is clear, you get lovely views of Mt. Rainier. You can visit the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art just off the ferry or walk through our little downtown Winslow. If you had more time I would recommend the Japanese American Exclusion Memorial and Bloedel Reserve. We also have Pia the Peacekeeper, one of the Thomas Dambo trolls.

I never thought I'd pay $500 for a cordless stick vacuum but I eventually did. So I am in no position to scoff about a $500 toothbrush

I bought the $500 Dyson blow dryer...two actually, which I love-so maybe?

Am I the only one certain I would get an AI shot of water straight up my nose or to the eye somewhere in the learning curve?
can beat that - didn't know I needed to close my mouth. duhhhhh

Have you thought about doing figures positioned to the side with a suggestion of a face? I have three close friends who like to paint and are talented and they never do portrait faces. But they will paint someone from behind or to the side and insert them in a scenery painting.
Example found online, not a friend's painting.

Thanks to Gloria Steinem and a handful of others, women began to see open doors to their future where there were none before.

What a woman. What a life.
Recently many of the achievements of her and others have been undone. Personally, I am enraged by the misogyny, bigotry and cruelty displayed by the current regime.
We all must push back to restore the societal and civil rights gains ruthlessly overturned. Younger members of our society must pay attention, get informed, join forces and mount serious and strong efforts to regain and maintain what has just has been gutted.
She was an inspiration. It is incumbent of us all, and especially younger generations to stay inspired and carry on.

RIP Gloria , and thank you for 'Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions' which was so inspirational to me in my early 20s ! I remember the essay 'I was a playboy bunny' , so bold !
She was on cherry bomb podcast last year and they re-aired it today... she was so good! You've gotta hear her story about Marlene Dietrich if you don't know it already :)

VooDoo Lily.

I only have to parallel park occasionally but in my younger days, I parallel parked a 15 passenger van. I was very proud of myself that day.
I am pretty good at it, I just don't often have the opportunity these days.

That’s lovely Jilly, and really does look like a horse blanket pattern. It also looks very substantial— and am I right in thinking it could probably substitute for a coat on most winter days where you live?
That reminds me— this past Sunday was an instructed eucharist, a service that omits a sermon to make time for the priest explaining all the reasons why we do things, the names of all the vessels they use at the altar, where some of the traditions come from and from what era in history, etc., right down to the garments worn by the priest and servers. He called his chasuble a poncho!

Try soaking dried blueberries and cherries in White Balsamic. I think it was @Kswl who had the blueberries ” pickled” at a restaurant last year. I have been doing this and storing some in glass jars ever since. They are incredible umami on salads. They keep indefinitely and get better and better.
DH grills several chicken breasts on an iron griddle on his Propane cooker. We store them in their juices and use for unstructured salads and for tacos when I make tortillas. It is a versatile protein for sure.

Thank you all!
rob, That's part of the fun is that I can be "brave" with the colors since it's just a blanket, not a room I have to live in. But I was thinking of a young girl when I was using those colors...maybe a fan of one of those Disney characters in lilac and lavender....

I’m on the very final home stretch of purging everything possible before the movers come next week. It’s the first time we’ve moved that I’ve gone through absolutely every cupboard, box, bin, shelf, toolbox, closet, etc and purged every unused/unwanted item before moving. One of the benefits of being retired - time to do this kind of thing. It’s kind of a euphoric experience. I’ll have one more round of purging before I unpack at the lake. I’ve been using old/interim things up there that will be donated or tossed to make space for the better stuff. I have WAY too many towels. I plan to donate a bunch to the local animal shelter.

Long story short (maybe long rant is more accurate), my husband and his sister are starting to remove some things from my MIL’s apartment. But instead of getting rid of stuff, it’s getting moved to my SIL’s house. So they are just kicking the can down the road. My excellent suggestions and advice fall on deaf ears, so I have learned to just keep it to myself. But complain elsewhere, I guess. 😆

Made a trip to Goodwill for a drop off and then on to Rhode Home Rescue (RI dog rescue) dropped off a huge bag of towels, dog bowls and assorted canine paraphernalia while DH was on the golf course . He is a saver and would have found a second use for something.

Christmas reds

Jilly, I have water color prints of English monuments framed for when my dining room is finished. I think I will group it with those. Right now it is on a music stand in my sunroom lol.

I don't have a lot to share this week -- I have been busy and focused but mostly on other things. I am going back to ozempic this evening .. I can't even explain why but I have been off it for 2 weeks. I don't have any reason other than I didnt make getting to the pharmacy a priority. Maybe I just needed a mental break -- or maybe it was a little rebellion. Doesnt matter. The good news is that I didnt gain more than my normal 2lb variance. I didnt eat as well and I don't feel as healthy this moment but I don't believe I set myself back.
So this week, I will be focused on getting back to a routine that I let slip the past few weeks. Again, there have been no measurable adverse affects, but I don't feel as good or as energetic.
How are you doing? Are you focused on improving anything this week?

I did get a few good meditation sessions in last week, but not daily. I had a professional stressor that took several hours over a couple of days to address, as well as a failed dryer that's launched a mudroom renovation. I know enough about myself that when a reno is on the horizon, I need to get my other spaces in tip-top shape to feel a sort of semblance amid the chaos. I need to doubledown on the basics of exercise, diet and sleep this week.
Speaking of sleep, since my recent trip to higher altitudes, my sleep has returned to normal. My days are so much more productive when I sleep well.
Several weeks ago, we were discussing skincare in this thread, and Pal had mentioned his routine. I swapped a few products and made some changes, and have had great results.

OutsidePlaying, good point about switching things up. I had been in the same routine previously for several years, which may explain why a new routine is making a difference. My changes have been to use micellar water before cleansing with regular soap and water at night, a glycolic acid after that, a retinaldehyde, and then once that is absorbed, a thin moisturizer on top. The retinaldehyde I’m using is Prequel 0.2% (the 0.1 is available at Target, but you have to order the 0.2 directly from Prequel). I’m also using the Prequel half and half at night over the 0.2. It’s very lightweight for summer. My everyday moisturizer is rosehip seed oil, which I’ve used for years. But I’ve been really pleased with the Prequel products and am going to try a few more of them.

We go so often that….

…. they gave her her own apron.

No grandkids, but some scenes from Vancouver Island. We are at the airport waiting for our flight(s) home.
Alison, my DGS is about the same age as yours, and also in 2nd year of Engineering academy!
AND just got his permit!
Trail, that all looks so yummy! No wonder your grandson requests the pizzas!
My DGD graduated HS last May, and just began college. We bought her a laptop and she cried when we gave it to her. Just touched me so much! Then she sent us the sweetest hand written thank you note, and it said -- "I love you so much! You spoil me! That's what grandparents are for after all!
