A wet towel that you've presumably washed in the sink after wiping something can be wrung out in the sink to the point where it np ;pnger holds enough water to drip. Then hang it anywhere you want. If you don't do that it's not going to be ready as soon for the next use.

agree with dan. I really thought this story was going to ask for a way for the wet towels to drip into the herbs. Why is the towel so wet?

Show the whole window wall all the cabinets in each side bank. Maybe it would be less obtrusive to remount the uppers with 1.5" clearance over a half inch.

For the uneven sides, do not center equal-width casing on the window and leave a gap — rip the two side casings to different widths instead. Use about 1.5 inches on the left and the full 2 inches on the right, both butted to the cabinets, so the outer edges line up with the cabinet faces and the reveal at the window stays the same. A half-inch difference in casing width spread over two sides is almost invisible once it is stained to match, while an open half-inch shadow gap next to one cabinet jumps out every time. That is a common trim-carpenter cheat and it works. On thickness: skip the 1/4-inch oak for the jambs, it is too thin, warps, and telegraphs every uneven bit of drywall behind it. Use 3/4-inch (1x) oak for the jamb extensions, and 5/4 oak for the stool/sill so you can round a proper nosing that will not chip. With only 3.5 inches to the faucet, keep the stool shallow with a small nosing and an apron underneath rather than trying to make a deep sill fit. Oak that close to a sink can work, but only if you finish all six sides before it goes in — top, bottom, ends and the back edge — with several coats of a water-resistant finish like spar urethane, and seal the back edge to the window with a thin bead of clear silicone. Your test piece held up less because it was only stained; unstained end grain at the faucet splash zone is what will go dark first. Do the stool in oak to match the living room, accept a little patina, and it will look intentional rather than like another workaround.
