Hah! I've got some serious money in my cupboards!
I have the Pyrex Spirograph casserole dish. It was a wedding gift in 1969. The green underplate went missing years ago. But the casserole is still in great condition as I hand wash only. It has been and still gets filled with my scalloped potatoes regularly. Not sure what it may be worth, but I don't want to sell it and my daughter gets it per my will. Pyrex Spirograph casserole
It could be my phone, but the white paint j the kitchen is jarring / atrocious. It looks recently painted — obvs by someone who didn’t give ten seconds of thought to the shade of white.
@Kswl For whatever reason, photographers seem to "brighten" listing photos. I almost did not come see our current home because of the photos. Our house on the lake and our current rental listings were/are bright.

I don't think there is any particular color I would Not use. It's just that so many of them seem to be used in the wrong way.
But there are some finishes that are a complete turn off for me and I don't think I could buy a house with these finishes unless it needed to be gutted anyway.
Red Floors. And short boards (also see "yellow paint" below)
Beige porcelain tile. A "neutral" that goes with absolutely nothing but beige, and yet you see it with all sorts of wall colors because it is a "neutral", and just the overall appearance. It's a giant blowup photo of a skid mark you could not fully bleach out of someones underwear
What color is this supposed to be? This is the color of L'Eggs suntan pantyhouse. Blech.
I like yellow, I like red, but these two are kind of insipid together. And I see this kind of yellow with those floors I showed above a lot.
If you're not Nancy Lancaster, maybe you shouldnt attempt it.
Just, very unpleasant--I don't see how this would ever look clean.
I guess one of the reasons I can't specifically name colors that I would not use in interiors is because there are usually exceptions where I would use or like the color in question.
I like red persian rugs a lot, we did not have any but I number of my parents' friends (who were all loosely related) had houses full of persian rugs, and they were all red based. I and I have two from a great Aunt's house that are now 100 years old I guess. I had one of them in my dorm room because my mom did not like red persians either.
But I just used this fake one in a small project I am doing, under $150
I don't like beige in bits and pieces used in interiors, but I prefer beige car interiors. Throughout my childhood my parents always got the most basic black interiors in their cars, and then we got this used car, and after this they switched to beige/tan interiors.
And I don't mind grey interiors in cars, rather than black.
I do not orange except in smaller doses, but I will make exceptions for Jamie Drake
I don't like a lot of Purple (except for Jamie Drake, again), but purple or maroon or gold-- those are my favorite colors in Nichols rugs. I worked on Mtn to buy this one for her mural den in Boston. A lot.
And this is another combo I like, although I don't like gold much in interiors.
I guess maybe I like brighter colors if I am walking on them.
I do not like gray, purple or orange in anything other than small amount, such as pumpkins at Halloween. Although I have never had an house with a gray exterior, I would consider it if I had the right house.
I wear mostly black, gray, and tan, with small accents of other colors, in shoes, jewelry, handbags and scarves.
In decor, I love all colors, but they need to be used carefully. As a designer, it's great fun to use a color palette that you've never used before, because a client loves it. I'm mostly drawn to blues, greens and reds in my own home. One of my clients loves yellow, orange and green, and that was a wonderful experience. Another liked seafoam green and pink, still another deep navy, burgundy and ochre. Still another was drawn to reds and greens. And no, her house doesn't look like Christmas!
Every color has a huge variety of hues, chroma and value. So even if you don't like red, you might like pink or burgundy, even if you don't care for bright red. Orange can span the spectrum of terracotta, coral or peach. Same with purple--lavender, mauve or aubergine might work for you. Yellow doesn't only mean bright schoolbus yellow, you might like lemon yellow or gold or a very light ivory. Greens can morph from citrus to forest to chartreuse to pine to mint to sage to kelly to teal to jade to...you get the picture! And of course everyone's favorite--blue! Cerulean, navy, royal, periwinkle, turquoise, slate, and many others.
The world is a colorful place, and we are blessed with such a riot of colors from which to choose when we dress, garden or decorate our homes!

Whatever you do, it does not have to be vintage or replication but it should acknowledge the existing style and era of the house somehow. An all white bathroom with a lot of marble which is very popular in a lot of places is probably not the best fit.
@palimpsest. Yes, that is what I am not wanting to do. I am thinking Cambria shower walls in a beige/tan maybe veined, wood toned vanities again. I have a CKD, Aging in Place person coming out tomorrow. She actually worked for the local home improvement store and did the original layouts and then helped with the kitchen refresh 15 years ago,
great project & sounds like you’re on the right path - I love a fresh, updated and low key bath that looks like it belongs in the house. We redid my sons’ bath a few years ago - we live in an old home and just did classic black & white. I had to force myself not to fall in love with gorgeous/dramatic tile and stay simple as it fits the home - and it does tend to age well
Can the history be looked up on the site? This is the sort of property that I wonder if it is now for rent because it did not sell. I see that happening here with properties that have unusual choices.
I don't think is is responsive to its environment or context, so I find that a negative.

It got this woody look in 2016, and has been attempted to be sold or rented multiple times since then.
The highest initial doses cause the most side effects, and then they lessen with each dose. It's tapered because if you stop abruptly you would not be producing enough cortisol on your own. The tapered dose causes you adrenal gland to gradually start producing cortisol again.
My mother took high doses of prednisone continually for more than two decades, along with methotrexate, other antiiflammatory agents and a list of about 20 other things. She would have to be hospitalized to titrate off for surgery and things like that. The side effects were bad, but the alternatives were to be curled up in a rigid ball in a long term care facility or to be dead.
Prednisone works well, but it can be a nightmare. I’ve taken it for hives (more than once), a very bad jellyfish sting, and bursitis in my hip. I hope you’re on the mend soon.
Our skin is an organ, right up there with our heart and our liver. We have come to appreciate our skin after being accepted into what I would call a wholistic dermatology practice in a town near our home. We were both seeing a more corporate kind of specialist but both of us were soured by his attitude and billing practices. I hope you are well.

Mom had saved her red tap dancing shoes, a tad larger than your dad's and falling apart (I think because they were spray painted for recital). I decided not to keep them and no one else wanted. I have my bronze baby shoes, and those of my children. Name plates are on the bottoms of mine, but not theirs.
I purchased these pointe shoes at an antique store and they sit on a night table. Every time I see them, I just think how pretty they are. They belonged to a young girl, as they are not adult size.
Chispa, I thought it was about earth born fossils too. Have you seen the fossilized sand dollars? The one next to it is also a fossil.
Allison, very pretty. Lots of shark/Megalodon teeth hunting in many SW FL beaches. My dental hygienist dives in the gulf for the Megalodon teeth and has found some large and quite valuable ones. I think he sells them to pay for the boat upkeep!
One of my sisters still has an umbrella.
My sisters got these for Christmas one year. Officially I think this was "my" Christmas present to them. I was six. At that time my mom would either pick something out or help me pick something out and that would be their present. I think we saw them in a store and picked them out together...She did this when we were small and they were basically age appropriate.

When I was maybe 3 or 4 I gave my unmarried aunts red and black plaid vinyl bags that had magnets in it so it attached to the dashboard of the car (since they were metal then) and you could use them to hold Kleenex or as litter bags. (Since people smoked and you didn't want to put litter in with the cigarette stubs. )

When I was 9 years old, my brother gave me Peter Max themed birthday gifts. A few items....maybe an oil and water toy with drawings on it, a stationary set....

Jilly, goat companions for horses — I’ve never heard of that and it‘s so interesting. Why do goats make good companions for horses? My sister would get a goat before I would.… I think she dreams of having goats. She’s the chicken lady. lol!
I’m not sure, Party. Any horses we had that didn’t get along with other horses had goat friends. Maybe because they’re not threatening at all. We’d have draft horses that would be lazing on the ground, letting goats climb all over them. But if I walked by? I’d get butted by the goats! :D
Lots of public schools here wear uniforms to level the playing field--removing the emphasis on who has the nicer stuff, especially if they are criteria-based public schools. As in "I do better when I feel I fit in with everybody else"
A lot of girls wear pants and polo shirts as same as the boys up here.
That is so fun, kswl. My son still keeps in touch with friends from his camp and they have reunions, too. Good memories
Cyn, yes!—such good memories. My daughter went to the same camp for years and also had many wonderful experiences. It’s my hope that Lucy will be a third generation camper there.
Yeah I saw one of these traditional kitchens (yellow) but with the glass door fridge (to show off, I think) in an apartment that was otherwise 1972 Bob and Emily Hartley. Not good.
DeVol is amazing! I was very much inspired by them when I renovated my kitchen five years ago, and used some of their light fixtures and hardware. So beautiful.
They have a store in NYC- 28 Bond Street- I was thrilled to visit last time I was there. There’s one in LA, too.

That is what the culture was-and millions of us on the right are still fighting for it --cultures evolve and 250 years later, our culture is becoming less Christian and it scares the hell out of you. The underside of the stairs has be be in the same location on each side, it's just on the left that it is covered with a kind of irregular drywall construction because of the fireplace, and on the right it is more concealed because there is a wall there.
But what I was referring to is that on the left historically (and it frequently remains because you can't alter the stairs in these houses because there is no way to replace them with compliant stairs) the underside of the stairs is usually a graceful curving spiral of plaster.
If they are doing the rest of the house in a kind of Post-Mod redux, it's fine. The floor is actually a large format tile with a pattern; I think it is a bit too readable as such where the three blue triangles are.
I am not sure painting the wainscotting in the dining area is enough; it should come out.
I suppose we all have to compromise to have our dream items unless we have unlimited funds and each of us would make a different compromise. I'm always amazed that people are willing to put their rooms on the Internet where they know they will get negative feedback and second guesses about their choices.
