We are replacing our bathroom and I want to get rid of the old water tank storage cupboard and replace it with something that allows a larger sink area but enough space to store sheets & towels.

Have you got any dimensions or some images of the inside, that would help with the space you have left to work with if you wanted a bigger vanity area.

Removing the cupboard sounds like a great idea! It will definitely open up the space and provide an opportunity for extra storage. To maximize the storage opt for a double floorstanding vanity unit. There are plenty out there, but if you like a more clean, contemporary style, this white “his and hers” one on the link below seems to be a hit with our customers.

    Good luck with your renovation!

Definitely need a room plan with dimensions etc. Also need to know what the current layout is.

Thanks for your comments. The room is 1.38m x 2.77m long and the storage cupboard is 47 x 55cm

Not lots that you can do with a space that narrow, but here's an option:-

You'll need at least 80cm width for a toilet. 90cm is better.

Is there a toilet in there or just a shower and vanity?

Remove the cupboard and add a decent shelf above the mirror along the entire wall up to the shower. Roll up your towels and add some baskets on there for storing shampoos and such. A floating vanity with one or two drawers for things you use daily.

Any adjecent space you can steal from? We removed the upstairs landing closet and added it to the bathroom, so we could add a toilet. Just an idea.

Here some narrow bathrooms for inspiration ;)

May, that is also a great idea!

(though personally I wouldn't want drawers where a door is, for safety reasons)

Revamping the cupboard certainly would provide plenty of storage space.

What materials is it made of?

(if just wood and board, I'd remove it, it's not really an 'original feature')

Love May's idea, this could potentially give you quite a bit of storage.
