Africa Room
The design of this family room reflects a love for Africa. The family calls it the “Africa Room”. David is an avid hunter and naturalist having been on expeditions to Antarctica, and Africa's Okavango Delta, and Marianne spent part of her childhood living in South Africa. Both are experienced skeet shooters. Above the fireplace is a Zebra print by artist David Sheperd. Other design choices include ceremonial heads from a department store, chair cushions and pillows embroidered with monkeys and Toucans from Pier One Imports, and the skin of an African Reebok deer as a throw rug. A door on the far left of this room (not shown) leads to the garage where there is a mudroom which stores ski equipment, boots, fishing poles, winter gear, coolers etc. Marianne calls this room an absolute necessity with an active growing family. A racking system helped greatly with organization.
