Urban SkiesThis bespoke pergola was inspired by the colours and aesthetics of the client’s home, a stunning grade II listed 17th century property set within a small hamlet in St Albans. The brief was to create an outdoor area that would work socially and house a dining/BBQ area whilst providing protection from the elements. We used a small, mild steel profile to construct an elegant frame that supports a flat roof of 16mm twin wall polycarbonate roof which naturally provides shelter in wet weather. We included a 50x25mm Iroko timber batten soffit to introduce horizontal lines as a decorative feature that are spaced apart to let natural light through into the dining area. The inclusion of our bespoke pivoting shutters was to offer solar shading in a variety of positions, especially against the evening sun.
Green Sheep CollectiveMaaemo - Mother Earth - is the name our clients adopted for their Reservoir renovation. This theme of connecting back to nature informed the design and led to the creation of a series of spaces that were intended to nurture. By using recycled materials, maximising northern light and providing strong connections to the outdoors, we were able to design a home that fosters family living with a sense of grounding and togetherness. Featuring passive solar principles, soaring exposed rafters, plentiful natural light and a snug sunken living area, this home is comfortable, energy efficient and exciting to inhabit.
Dig Your Garden Landscape DesignThe living wall/vertical garden is filling in beautifully 2 months after the installation, providing a dramatic focal point for this mid-century model landscape renovation. The updates include a new concrete driveway, a welcoming concrete pathway accented by shiny black pebbles along with a variety of grasses, lavender, yarrow, succulents and CA native plants. The large living wall was the perfect solution to bring life to the home's large front wall just next to the entrance. A variety of succulents, grass-like plants, cascading Oxalis and Lamium, were planted in long waves in the wall offering a beautiful tapestry of flowing textures and colors.

Home & Garden Design, Atlanta - Danna Cain, ASLAThe owner wanted to create privacy and the sense of a courtyard without barricading the side/rear yard with a typical privacy fence. We designed and installed this lovely arbor/gate/trellis as a focal point in the side yard and as an entrance into the "courtyard" garden. Shrubs were planted to either side of the trellis which would soon grow to 12' tall and provide all the privacy needed. This photo was taken soon after installation, but you can already see the climbing roses reaching for the top of the arbor and the other perennials that lead your eye to the gate.
